Harvey Weinstein will soon be in the market for a new publicity chief. Sarah Greenberg Roberts, who joined The Weinstein Company less than two years ago, has asked to be released from her contract, TheWrap has learned. Stephen Bruno remains head of marketing. Greenberg Roberts' move is somewhat unusual, considering that she was around for the company’s historic, back-to-back Best Picture wins at the Oscars, with “The King’s Speech” followed by “The Artist.” And her decision to depart comes at an unlikely time for the company. Greenberg Roberts has a contract through December but is...

As the indie world keeps turning, more execs keep moving. Following the exit of long-time Lionsgate publicity chief Sarah Greenberg Roberts, who went to work for Harvey Weinstein in New York where her husband is based, Julie Fontaine is taking her place, reporting to Lionsgate marketing president Tim Palen. The PR veteran Fontaine had handled publicity for Miramax's Daniel Battsek, then moved over to big Disney, where she worked on Miramax leftover The Tempest as well as Oscar campaigns for Tron: Legacy, Secretariat and Toy Story 3. She also took on campaigns for upcoming DreamWorks pictures. The Weinstein Company has named Sarah Greenberg to be head of marketing and publicity, the company confirmed. Greenberg left her Los Angeles-based job as Lionsgate Films marketing co-president in December to pursue New York-based family interests. The Weinstein post offers the advantage of being based in New York City, where Greenberg lives. TheWrap first reported her exit from Lionsgate. Neither Greenberg nor a spokesperson for the Weinstein Company responded to requests for comment. Greenberg joined Lionsgate in 2003, after the studio merged with Artisan Entertainment, where she was head of home-entertainment publicity. She is best known for...

Just in time for the final leg of the Oscar race, former Lionsgate exec Sarah Greenberg has been named co-head of marketing and publicity for The Weinstein Company. She starts tomorrow, I'm told, and will get to work after The King's Speech got 12 Oscar nominations including Best Picture. Greenberg left Lionsgate because she wanted to live in New York. That makes her well suited for the new job, since TWC is based in Tribeca. She will report to Harvey Weinstein. Greenberg has awards season know-how, and most recently was part of Lionsgate's efforts for Precious, which got noms for Best Picture, Director and Actress, with a Best Supporting Actress win for Mo'Nique and Best Adapted Screenplay for Geoffrey Fletcher.

I'm not sure what the fuss is about. Sarah Greenberg Roberts was Lionsgate's longtime PR-woman overseeing corporate publicity as well as theatrical and home entertainment campaigns before she was given the marketing co-president title even though Tim Palen has always performed that role. Roberts, who recently had a baby, married a New Yorker and left La to be with him. Her departure was not unexpected because the studio wants the position based here. Lionsgate doesn't need to make its next move in this arena until March-April, an insider tells me, so will "use the moment" to decide whether to bring in someone "super senior". As for Roberts, I've always liked her and I wish her well. Rubenstein PR has been handling Lionsgate's flackery in her absence.

Exclusive Sarah Greenberg, Lionsgate Films marketing co-president, is leaving the company, according to an executive close to the studio. Tim Palen, who has served alongside Greenberg as the unit's other co-president since both were promoted to their respective posts in 2006, will assume sole oversight of the division. Greenberg, who is currently in New York on maternity leave, did not respond to TheWrap's inquiries for comment. An email sent to her Lionsgate account bounced back, suggesting all inquiries be made to Greenberg's personal Gmail account. Lionsgate officials were unavailable for comment. According to an official...
