Gears of War is one of the most successful and loved franchises that Xbox have had over the years. Fans have relished in the warfare and story-telling that the games have had since it was first introduced in 2006 and along with the various sequels to the game, the franchise has branched out into other mediums such as graphic novels, board games and an upcoming Movie adaptation.
Given that fans are still waiting for both Gears of War 6 and the movie of the popular franchise, there is understandably much speculation about what may be included. As can be expected, many fans have proposed what they would like to see and one popular actor from the Gears games has added his thoughts to the discussions about the future Gears 6 game.
What did Liam McIntyre propose for Gears of War 6?

Diablo IV fans will apparently have plenty of content in the years ahead. Ahead of the game’s second season arriving next month, Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson has seemingly let slip that Diablo IV will be seeing annual content expansions.
In an interview with Dexerto, when asked how long Diablo IV will be supported by Blizzard, Fergusson made reference to “annual expansions”. “That’s the thing we’re focused on. When you look at the launch of the game and this first season, we see that as building a foundation on which we can build for the future. So, as we look at our quarterly seasons, and we look at our annual expansions, those are the things that we’re really focused on for our live service.”
Fergusson continued, saying that Blizzard has plans and storylines “that go well into the future” for Diablo IV. “We’re always leapfrogging our seasons,...

While Barbie turned the world pink in the lead up to its premiere, another major entertainment brand was leaning into the dark side of culture for its marketing campaign — and it worked.
In its first month, more than 10 million people spent more than 700 million hours playing Diablo IV — the latest installment in the franchise of hellish action role-playing games — and it set a record for Blizzard, selling more units than any other title at that stage of release. Blizzard also had a record quarter with more than $1 billion in net bookings, according to its July 19 earnings report, which the company says was driven by the successful Diablo IV launch.
“Diablo IV is the strongest story we’ve ever done in the franchise,” says Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson. “We know for new players story is very important. We’re really proud of it. Don’t be scared of the four.

Each of Diablo 4‘s five classes offer a worthwhile way to experience the game. Yes, some are more powerful than others, but the unique nature of each class’ playstyle makes it easy to argue for any of them when it comes to a “fun factor” debate. However, we now know what the most popular class in Diablo 4 is at the moment, and it really shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Diablo producer Rod Fergusson has been having a great time on Twitter since Diablo 4‘s recent release. Why shouldn’t he? The game has not only quickly garnered widespread critical acclaim but is, by all accounts, absurdly popular. Diablo 4 has already become the fastest-selling Blizzard game ever, and Fergusson even recently revealed that Diablo 4 continues to break its concurrent player count records.
That’s not all Fergusson revealed, though. Late last night, Fergusson seemingly broke PR protocol by confirming that...

Blizzard is unleashing hell today with the long-awaited release of Diablo IV. And according to a recent interview with Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson, their post-launch plans in place for Diablo IV already include expansions.
In a recent episode of the Kinda Funny Games podcast, Fergusson revealed that the studio has two expansions currently in development for Diablo IV. “Right now as I sit here we’re about to launch the main game, we’re finishing up season one, we’re working on season two, we’re working on expansion one, we’re kicking off expansion two…all that’s happening right now,” said Fergusson.
While the announcement of an expansion is no surprise (given that the previous two games in the series eventually received an expansion months after the initial launch), the reveal that Diablo IV would be getting a second expansion is surprising. Then again, Fergusson does mention...

The world Halsey created around her fifth studio album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power was driven by chaos, a battle for some semblance of control, and a yearning for unreachable emotional intimacy. In the IMAX film she wrote and released alongside the record, the singer took on the role of Queen Lila, whose positioning on the throne lends itself to bloodshed and royal disruption. When the album’s deep cut “Lilith” appears in the movie, lyrics about being corrupted from the inside soundtrack her character’s downfall.

With the tweaks made after the recent Open Beta tests, Blizzard has announced that Diablo IV has gone gold, meaning that development has completed, and the game is ready for mass production. The game will launch as scheduled on June 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Battle.net.
“Going gold is a landmark milestone for the incredible Diablo IV team, who have all worked so hard crafting the next-generation installment of this iconic franchise. This is a concrete, meaningful step toward our June 6 launch” says Rod Fergusson, general manager of the Diablo franchise. “Whether players are veterans of the franchise or jumping in for the first time, we can’t wait for everyone to experience the full game: taking part in the incredible storytelling, experimenting with character classes and builds, and exploring what the endgame and the dark world of Sanctuary has to offer.”

The “Gears of War” video game franchise is being adapted for the screen at Netflix, both as a live-action feature film and an adult animated series, the streamer announced Monday.
Monday happens to be the 16th anniversary of the launch of the “Gears of War” games back in 2006, and Netflix has partnered with the game’s developer, The Coalition, in adapting the property for film and TV. And they’re even teasing that beyond the initial film and animated series that more stories could follow.
No filmmakers or talent are currently attached to either “Gears of War” project.
The “Gears of War” titles as created by Epic Games have sold 40 million copies worldwide for Xbox consoles. They tell the story of a society divided and on the brink of collapse that faces total extinction by the Locust, a monstrous threat from below. The reveal of Diablo 2 Resurrected didn’t exactly catch fans by surprise (the project has been rumored to be in development for a while and was leaked ahead of the announcement), but there’s something undeniably exciting about seeing Blizzard finally revisit what many consider to be the finest Arpg ever made.
Even better, much as it was for World of Warcraft Classic, Blizzard and newly acquired developer Vicarious Visions, the team responsible for the brilliant Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 remake, is committed to preserving the original Diablo 2 experience as much as possible.
“This isn’t a remake,” said Rod Fergusson, executive producer of the Diablo franchise, in an interview with Polygon. “We’re not reverse-engineering it; we’re not rebuilding it and trying to make it look and sound like [Diablo 2]. This is [Diablo 2]…It’s right there, underneath the surface.”
What does that mean? Well, some things will certainly be different about Diablo 2 Resurrected.

If you didn’t know, Gears 5 is shockingly close to release. I personally haven’t seen a ton of advertising for it, even when I was at E3 this summer. However, I think the game just got the biggest pre-release bump it’s going to get with this sincerely satisfying news: Dave Bautista’s going to be playable in Gears 5 after September 15th. We kid you not.
For years, fan have been clamoring for this perfect bit of casting. Many folks had said the game’s previous protagonist, a mister Marcus Fenix, looked like the former pro wrestler. I guess we’re skipping over that though and just going for the real thing. Not a bad move, either, considering Fenix is going to be in the game as an old fart who can still chainsaw a mean locust-man thing with ease.
Information about actually playing as Bautista seems sparse for now,...

As you know, Dave Bautista has been been gunning for the role of Marcus Fenix in the Gears of War movie. He recently explained that he’s tried everything he possibly can to star in this movie, but there’s been no movement on any kind of casting.
Now Terry Crews wants in on the action! When a fan suggests that the two actors star in the movie together, Terry Crews, who would make a perfect Augustus Cole, said, “Damn. I like this. I like this very much. He then followed it up with a separate tweet that featured a photo of himself with Bautista together.

We’ve got some interesting new information to share with you regarding the long awaited Gears of War movie. The script for the film is being worked on by F. Scott Frazier (Collide and xXx: Return of Xander Cage).
When it was announced that he was writing the movie, it was said that the story would be set on the planet Sera, and that it follows a former P.O.W. “who leads the human resistance against the Locust Horde, a race of creatures who emerge from beneath the Earth’s surface intent on eliminating mankind.”
According to Gears of War head Rod Fergusson, the movie will not be set in the same reality of the game. It will be its own thing and tell its own story, a story that will not be dependent on the games. He explains:

Proving that you can't always see a huge success coming, former Epic Games employee Rod Fergusson has admitted that he tried to cancel Fortnite. It's worth noting that this would've happened quite a few years ago since Fergusson left his production director role at Epic in 2012.
“If I stayed at Epic, I would have canceled Fortnite," Fergusson has revealed in an interview with Game Informer. "Before I left, I tried to cancel Fortnite. When it was Save The World, that was a project that had some challenges."
The game was first announced in 2011 as Epic's first project after breaking away from Microsoft and the Gears of War series. Back then, it was pitched as a base-building tower defense game, with no mention of the battle royale mode that would turn the title into a phenomenon just months after it was released.

“Gears of War” will be coming to mobile under the title “Gears Pop,” Microsoft announced at its E3 showcase Sunday.
The game will feature character designs based off of the collectible Funko figurines of the characters. Cute, giant-headed versions of Marcus Fenix, Kait Diaz and more “Gears of War” characters will be in the upcoming mobile game.
The trailer serves as a teaser for “Gears Pop,” but shows no actual gameplay.
While admittedly adorable, the news of “Gears Pop” was very much over-shadowed by the announcement of the highly anticipated “Gears of War 5” and “Gears of Wars: Tactics” for PC.
It’s clear that The Coalition, the developer behind the series, is switching things up in the franchise by announcing three very different titles in one presser. Studio head Rod Fergusson talked about the evolution of the “Gears of War” franchise at the event.

The “Gears of War” franchise is branching out from its third-person cover shooter roots. Microsoft unveiled “Gears Tactics,” a turn-based strategy title, during its E3 press conference on Sunday.
“Gears Tactics” promises to evolve turn-based tactics games by combining fast-paced brutal action and character-driven storytelling with customizable squads, upgradable weapons, and massive boss battles. It’s also the first “Gears” game to be specifically designed for PC gamers. It takes place 12 years before “Gears of War 1” and tasks players with hunting down a Locust Horde responsible for destroying whole cities.
“Thirteen years ago when I began my ‘Gears of War’ journey, we had no idea how big this franchise would become,” The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson said on-stage during the press conference. “And as it’s grown, we’ve dreamed of taking it to new places in different ways to reach even more fans.”

Everything you need to know about Gears 5, including latest news, release date, trailers, and much more!
Gears 5 is coming to Xbox One with its most intense story yet. The game centers on Kait Diaz, a supporting character in the last installment. She takes center stage as she embarks on a new adventure deep into Swarm territory. At her side is Del as well as series mainstay Marcus Fenix.
The last game ended on a cliffhanger, leaving plenty of room for a sequel to continue to explore the adventures of J.D., Kait, Del, and Marcus. Interestingly enough, J.D. doesn't seem to have much of a role in the debut trailer. Instead, it appears to be Kait who will have the starring role this time around. Her arc was the more interesting one in Gears of War 4, after all.

Universal Pictures is doing a film adaptation of the hit video game franchise Gears of War. Microsoft announced that the project is being developed with producers Dylan Clark (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Scott Stuber (Central Intelligence). The game focuses on the conflict between humanity, the subterranean reptilian hominids known as the Locust Horde, and their mutated counterparts, the Lambent & the Swarm.
During a live stream for the upcoming Gears of War 4, Rod Fergusson, studio head of game developer The Coalition spoke with Variety and said that the movie based on the popular third-person shooter franchise has been rumored for years and that now was the right time to make the film.
“As a way to support the franchise the next logical step was to make the movie. We’d done comics and novels in the past but the opportunity to work with Universal to bring the movie to life was perfect.

Universal Pictures has picked up the rights to Microsoft's hit video game Gears of War, and they are will be adapting it into a feature film. I'm a huge fan of the Gears of War franchise, and I'm eagerly awaiting the fourth installment, set to be released next week!
I've always thought a film based on the property would be insanely badass if it was done right. The Studio has brought on producers Scott Stuber (Ted, The Kingdom) and Dylan Clark (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) to head the film's development.
Rod Fergusson, the head of game development and The Coalition game studios, talked to Variety about teaming up with Universal to making this happen, saying:

Like a gun-mounted chainsaw ripping its way through a horde of screaming piles of machismo, muscles, and meat, Microsoft has announced that its popular Gears Of War franchise is bursting into the world of feature films. The company made the announcement today at a livestream event for the upcoming Gears Of War 4, which releases to the wider public on October 11. Talking to the press, developer Rod Fergusson told reporters that it was “time” for the transition, which will be aided by a development deal with Universal.
This isn’t the first time Gears has attempted to make the leap to the silver screen; a movie version of the franchise have been in the works since at least 2007, initially with Underworld impresario Len Wiseman at the helm. We’ve know that Microsoft has been trying to get a film based on their video game franchise Gears of War off the ground for a while now, but for years it’s been stalled, seemingly stuck in development hell. Now, however, it seems that things are starting to pick up.
With the release of the fourth instalment in the series arriving next week, Variety reports that Universal Pictures is developing the adaptation alongside producers Scott Stuber (Ted) and Dylan Clark (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and The Coalition, the studio that’s behind Gears of War 4.

An award-winning renowned composer known for his work on Iron Man, Pacific Rim, and Game of Thrones, Ramin Djawadi, has scored the soundtrack for Gears of War 4 and the result is enchanting. Check out a preview of it!
The soundtrack that we are privy to in this short example is very reminiscent of moments we've seen/heard in HBO's Game of Thrones. This results in an actually quite beautiful score for a Gears of War game. The Coalition and Microsoft definitely have high hopes for the 4th installment to get a Grammy & Emmy Award winning talent like Ramin Djawadi to pen the score.
None of the previous 3 games had music nearly as deep as what Djawadi is providing. It was mostly just pounding drums and deep tones that resonated with how dark the environment was. Now, a new score wouldn't usually be the selling point for a game. Contrary to that belief,...

Gears of War 4 will come packing a very special Easter Egg when the sci-fi sequel deploys across Xbox One and PC in October.
Taking to Twitter, Studio Boss Rod Fergusson claimed that the studio “may have just created my favorite Easter Egg in Gears 4. I hope you find it!” Fergusson stopped short of disclosing any further details regarding the secret – then again, that would defeat the purpose of the Easter Egg itself.
In related news, the studio executive also posted an image alongside Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, which could herald some very exciting news in the not-so-distant future. You can check out the image below, though it’s really the caption that will pique the interest of Gears of War fans.

Last Monday, Microsoft and The Coalition ensured every press conference viewer felt Gears of War 4’s E3 2016 presence. Epic Games redefined third-person shooters over the course of the original trilogy, honing that winning, cover-based formula until the company foolproofed it. With thunderous explosions and action-laden blood-letting, Gears of War 4 preserves the franchise’s indomitable spirit.
Set pieces notwithstanding, I do have faith in the story. The Coalition might be an unseasoned studio, but Rod Fergusson extends his history with the series to the fourth’s development. The campaign is in good hands, whether or not it lacks the emotional anguish that Delta Squad’s heartfelt climax had. And following the Horde 3.0 announcement, I can’t wait to curbstomp the Locust-like Swarm for a few hundred hours alongside friends.
If we’re talking Gears of War 4 multiplayer, however, readers have the right to worry. These thoughts stem from a beta held back in April,...

E3 2016: Microsoft Press Conference Highlights Include We Happy Few, Dead Rising 4, State Of Decay 2
Microsoft started off their E3 briefing with some big news and kept things running at that fast-paced momentum throughout the show. They gave us a lot of information and showed off a ton of games, so let’s jump in to all that is coming up for Microsoft.
Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, took the stage to unveil the Xbox One Slim. The Xbox One S will be 40% smaller than the current Xbox One with up to a 2Tb hard drive, and it will offer Hdr gaming, a 4K output, and Blu-ray support. The system also has an integrated power supply, so no more enormous brick collecting dust behind your TV! Packaged with an all-new wireless controller featuring increased Bluetooth range and a textured grip, the Xbox One S system will be available in both black or white styles and will retail for $299.
The new Xbox Play Anywhere feature was also heavily hyped throughout the show. This means that when a game is purchased once, it’s then playable on Xbox One and Windows 10. Achievements and game saves are also carried across platforms, making it possible to switch devices mid-game. Cross Play is also supported, allowing players to join up in a game no matter which device they are playing from, which is a pretty cool move from Microsoft.
Also announced were some new Xbox Live multiplayer features. Background music will now be accessible, allowing you to play music from your library while playing games, and regional language independence will give players the ability to choose their language preferences based on their choice, not their geographical location. The online personal assistant intelligence Cortana will also be added, and lastly, a brief video was shown that advertised the Xbox Design lab, where you can go online and design your own Xbox One controller by choosing the color scheme of each individual piece as well as personalizing a message on the controller itself.
As far as new gaming features are concerned, we’ve got Clubs, Looking for Group, and Arena to look forward to. Clubs are user-created communities where fans of a certain game or a specific subset of a certain game can play together— for example, people who live in a certain area, or those who want to complete a specific objective. Looking for Group is a multiplayer tool for players to use when looking for others to play online with. Arena seems like the most exciting of these updates, as Xbox, like EA, is pushing toward competitive gaming for everyone. In Arena, players can register for tournaments and leagues hosted by top companies and compete either solo or as a team.
Also, look for upcoming titles that support Xbox Game Preview, which allows players to buy and play games while in development to give the developers feedback.
Rod Fergusson, head of The Coalition, came out to introduce Gears of War 4, which will be an Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive, with the Xbox Play Anywhere feature, meaning players on PC and Xbox One can join the same multiplayer battles.
During the story mode gameplay footage reveal, we saw the Gears team in a rooftop battle during an alien electrical storm. After finding cover and dodging the attack, the team uses environmental destruction to create a bridge to another building. The highlight of the video was seeing J.D. Fenix pick up a gun called the “Buzzkill”, which mowed down a group of enemies with circular saw blades. The trailer ended with an old and grizzled Marcus Fenix saying, “Welcome home, James.” Both Gears of War 4 and an Xbox Elite wireless controller based on the game will be released on October 11th, 2016.
Killer Instinct will also receive an Xbox One exclusive character, General Raam from Gears of War. The character is free to play this week.
Next up was Forza Horizon 3. Set in Australia, the gameplay video showed a huge variety of environments for coastal racing, including beaches, swampy jungle terrain, the Australian outback, and city traffic. The open-world racing game is also introducing a four-player campaign co-op for the first time, in which players can join each other mid-race to complete a goal. The Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive will be released on September 27th, 2017 and will support Xbox Play Anywhere.
Hajime Tabata, the director of Final Fantasy Xv, came out to reveal the game’s first ever demo and show off the new battle system. After seeing a lengthy battle with a giant creature, Final Fantasy Xv looks to have more action-adventure elements than previous Final Fantasy titles. Look for Final Fantasy Xv on September 30th, 2016.
Coming first to Xbox One and PC beginning on June 28th (and later on PS4) is the first expansion pack for Tom Clancy’s The Division, titled “The Underground.” The first of three planned expansions, “The Underground” will feature urban underground missions that are randomly generated to ensure a new experience on each playthrough.
Xbox Live and EA Access members will also get the much-anticipated Battlefield 1 one week ahead of gamers on other consoles, as it is getting an early October 13th release on Xbox One before debuting elsewhere on October 21st.
From the creators of Limbo, a new game called Inside was shown. Only a short trailer was revealed, so not much information is known at this time. Inside, like Limbo, had a muted color palette and appeared to show an office building in some oppressed universe. Inside launches for Xbox One on June 29th. Also, for those that haven’t been playing it, Limbo is available free for a limited time right now.
So, time for real talk: the next game that debuted during the conference looks like ultra creepy fun and I need to see more as soon as possible. We Happy Few, launching on the previously mentioned game preview, looks to be a first person survival game in which the main character is trying to escape some kind of cult. In the demo, which seemed to be in an alternate past, characters adorned clown makeup and had exaggerated smiles painted across their faces. Once the main character refused to take a pill referred to as “Joy”, the others exclaimed in dismay, “He’s a downer,” and called for reinforcements. Unsettling and stylized, We Happy Few hits Game Preview on July 26th, 2016.
From the team at CD Projekt Red, the creators of The Witcher 3 have created Gwent, the card game from The Witcher 3, as a stand-alone game with a release scheduled for September on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Xbox One and PC gamers will also get a chance to play the Beta early, and cross-play is also supported.
Bandai/Namco then announced Tekken 7, complete with a story mode would be shipping in early 2017 after showing footage of a fight between Akuma and Heihachi. Also, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is being made available for free on Xbox Live all this week so fans will definitely want to jump on that.
Dead Rising 4 is heading back to the mall and this time, it’s Christmas! During the zombie filled demo, we saw what looked like Frank West wielding a rocket launcher, then some kind of candy cane gun. The footage also featured enormous groups of zombies exploding all over the place, a variety of vehicles and mech suits even made an appearance. They gave Dead Rising 4 a release window of Holiday 2016.
An Xbox and Windows 10 exclusive, State of Decay 2 used the tag line “No Body Survives Alone” and we got a better look at the sequel during the conference. The demo showed a desolate country road with zombies peppered throughout, as a car barrels down the road taking them out one by one. With a focus on what appears to be settlement building, State of Decay 2 looks to be co-op based and has players rely on others instead of going it alone in the wasteland as it were. State of Decay 2 will be launching in 2017.
The next exclusive showed was Halo Wars 2, the sequel to 2009’s real-time strategy game set in the Halo universe. Check out the week-long multiplayer Beta available now. Halo Wars 2 is set to be released February 21, 2017.
To close the show out, head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, came out to reveal what is possibly their biggest announcement at this year’s E3, Project Scorpio. An all-new system that will be released in 2017, Microsoft is touting Scorpio as the most powerful console ever made, as it will house 8 Cpu cores, features 320 Gb/s memory bandwidth and 6 Teraflops of processing power enabling true, not upscaled, 4K and hi-fidelity Vr. Games running on Scorpio could have fully uncompressed pixels running at 60 Hz. It’s a beast of machine.
Project Scorpio, The Xbox One S and Xbox One will also share backward compatibility and support cross-play too, allowing players on all systems to connect with each other regardless of the type of system they’re using.

Back in April, The Coalition opened up the gates to host a Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta test on Xbox One, offering fans an early peek at the studio’s work-in-progress.
Designed to accumulate feedback across the board, many of the improvements made since the open test revolve around technical tweaks and changes to the core gameplay systems, but Studio Head Rod Fergusson took to Twitter to share a before and after shot, revealing just how far the shooter has come in the visual department.
With close to four months still to go before Gears of War 4 deploys for Xbox One, there’s still plenty left to do on The Coalition’s sequel, but ardent supporters of the series can take solace in the graphical leap made since the beta.

Late last year, 343 Industries drew the ire of the Halo faithful after it was revealed that Halo 5: Guardians wouldn’t integrate split-screen, despite the mode becoming a staple of Microsoft’s sci-fi franchise all across its decorated history.
But one first-party game that will embrace split-screen wholeheartedly is Gears of War 4, after it was revealed that the upcoming shooter will support said mode across the board.
Word comes by way of The Game Informer Show, where Studio Head Rod Fergusson confirmed the enticing tidbit. There is one caveat, though; frame rate within the local multiplayer modes will be capped at 30fps as opposed to the standard 60fps found in the full, solo experience. Said Fergussion: “Any way you can play Gears of War you can play split-screen,” said Fergusson. In multiplayer, this means frame-rate will drop down to 30fps, instead of 60fps for the full-screen experience.”

UK-based studio Splash Damage are giving The Coalition a hand in developing Gears Of War 4‘s multiplayer, marking the second time the two studios have collaborated on a Gears title.
Splash Damage worked extensively on the multiplayer side of things for last year’s Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition and, according to Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson, is one of the primary reasons why they decided to bring them in again to help out on this year’s sequel to Gears Of War 3.

On the heels of yesterday’s Game Informer cover reveal, The Coalition’s Rod Fergusson has entertained the idea of bringing upcoming sci-fi sequel Gears of War 4 to PC, much like the studio’s Gears of War Ultimate Edition.
When quizzed about a possible port, Fergusson kept things short and sweet – the interview involved 105 questions in five minutes – by stating “possibly,” hinting at the very least that Microsoft is open to expanding the game’s launch plans beyond Xbox One.
There was also mention of the framerate and resolution that users can expect come launch, and interestingly, there’s a slight disparity between single-player and multiplayer. Whereas the offline campaign will be locked at 1080p, 30fps, the online component of Gears of War 4 will run at a native 60fps, though Fergusson remained mum about the actual resolution of the game’s multiplayer. Expect further details to emerge closer to the shooter’s imminent beta test.

Current Gears of War developer Black Tusk has today confirmed plans to undergo a small rebranding, changing its name to The Coalition.
The Vancouver-based studio, who took the reins of the illustrious shooter following Gears of War: Judgement, took inspiration from the Coalition of Ordered Governments from the series itself, and Studio Head Rod Fergusson stated that he wants the new-fangled studio name to become synonymous with GoW in the vein of 343 and Halo.
“In short, The Coalition speaks to who we are as a team, and what it is we’re working on,” Fergusson said in a statement. “A coalition is a team of diverse individuals working together for a common purpose, a concept that we feel describes our studio quite well. Fans will also recognize the Coalition of Ordered Governments (Cog) from Gears of War lore.”

A remake of the first game in the "Gears of War" series will soon be making its debut on Xbox One.
Polygon announced the news, saying the game will have upgraded lighting and textures and run at 60Fps. The cinematics will also be remade by animation studio Plastic Wax.
Black Tusk Studios, who is in charge of the series going forward, may not be involved in the project as the remaster is being done by "Brink" and "Batman: Arkham Origins" multiplayer developer Splash Damage.
This might explain comments from Black Tusk Studios general manager Rod Fergusson last month when he scuttled rumors of the series getting a "Halo: Master Chief Collection" style boxset remaster. The quotes he made were very specifically about a potential 'Marcus Fenix Collection', not an individual game from the series undergoing a remake.

Sony has announced a remastered version of PS3 title "God of War III" is coming to PlayStation 4 later this year to celebrate the franchise's tenth anniversary. The updated version of the game will feature 1080p graphics and "other additions". There's also an official trailer for the release which you can see below:
Over in the rival camp and following on from "Halo: The Master Chief Collection," those hoping for that Other big exclusive Microsoft franchise might get an Xbox One remaster will be sadly disappointed.
In a posting on his Twitter account, Black Tusk Studios Gm Rod Fergusson says there's no plans for remakes/remasters of the previous "Gears of War" games, or a 'Marcus Fenix Collection' as has been suggested: "I love the passion, but there’s no Marcus Fenix Collection. Remember Gears of War: Judgment?
It’s like some weird memory that comes back to you after a heavy night on the gin beforehand. “Holy crap, that thing happened…” is the more common response to the half-dlc, half-real Gears sequel that hardly anybody picked up back in 2013.
Part of the reason it didn’t sell particularly well or get noticed as a core instalment in the franchise was down to its reputation as a side-story, and the fact that instead of controlling Marcus ‘Argh, Cam Ann’ Fenix, you were getting behind motormouth Damon Baird and firecracker catchphrase-machine Augustus ‘Cole Train’ Cole.
A few controller layout shakeups later was all it took to cement this as one you could pass by, especially being that Gears 3 had just released two years prior, but all that’s done over time is get fans salivating at the mouth when it comes to...

Gears of War has always been one of Microsoft's major titles, only pipped at the post by Halo, and now there's no way we'll ever see the fat-necked third person cover shooter on anything other than a Microsoft platform.
It's been announced that Microsoft has acquired the Gears of War IP from Epic Games, and Black Tusk Studios is going to take on the series in future. Former Epic Games exec, Rod Fergusson, has also been brought on board to oversee the series.
This is good news, as Fergusson worked on the first three Gears games, but not the disappointing Gears of War: Judgement. Microsoft is clearly keen to return the series to its former glory. His time working on BioShock Infinite with Irrational should also give the series a boost,...

When it comes to game consoles, each had 2-3 exclusive franchises that were their signature. For Nintendo it's Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon. For Sony it's "Uncharted," "God of War," and "Infamous".
For Microsoft though it's all about "Halo" and "Gears of War". While Ms owned the "Halo" franchise, 'Gears' was created by Epic Games and so there was always the possibility (however slim) of it eventually going multi-platform.
That is no longer the case. Microsoft Studios has now purchased the rights to all past and future "Gears of War" titles and the brand itself from Epic Games.
However, like with the "Halo" franchise since "Halo 4," the property is no longer being worked on by the company that created it. Epic's Unreal Engine 4 technology will be utilised for future installments though.
Instead, Microsoft have assigned Vancouver-based Black Tusk Studios to develop the next title in the co-op shooter series. Black Tusk...

Microsoft announced in a statement today that it has purchased the rights to the Gears of War franchise from Epic Games. If you were holding out for the series’ debut on a Sony console, you may as well abandon all hope now. Time to start saving up for that Xbox One, chumps.
It was also announced that Rod Fergusson, former Gears production director at Epic, will be joining Microsoft. Black Tusk Studios (formerly Microsoft Vancouver) will be handling development duties on the series going forward, and Microsoft seems plenty confident in the studio’s ability to uphold the series reputation.

2K Marin, the studio behind Bioshock 2 and the recently released The Bureau: Xcom Declassified, has reportedly been hit with significant layoffs. A 2K Games representative confirmed to Game Informer that the company underwent “staff reductions” recently, saying:
“We can confirm staff reductions at 2K Marin. While these were difficult decisions, we regularly evaluate our development efforts and have decided to reallocate creative resources. Our goal to create world-class video game titles remains unchanged.”
While the 2K representative confirmed that there were staff reductions at the Marin studio, a source speaking to Polygon says that “a majority of the team was let go” and that they were “100 percent sure that 2K Marin was closed.” While 2K Games has not confirmed this, it appears that 2K Marin will join the long list of studios that have been shuttered within the past few years.

According to a recent listing on their jobs site, Epic Games is working on (surprise!) an online action game in addition to its survival horror building game, "Fortnite." The studio is looking for a system designers for both projects and notes that the unannounced and unnamed project has already moved into pre-production.
Epic's new project is "a competitive online action game that includes player progression, heavy itemization, and a dynamic economy," and the job calls for "experience and passion for building and/or playing shooters, Mmo’s, RPG’s, or Rts games." As is frustratingly typical in the games industry, there's a dearth of any information on Epic's future plans.
"Gears of War," the tentpole of Epic's game publishing arm, seems to be in the capable hands of People Can Fly -- Epic bought the Polish firm in 2012 and promptly released "Gears of War: Judgment." In the months since,...

Irrational Games announced this morning that BioShock Infinite has been pushed back from its February 26th release date — which was itself a delay from the game’s original release window of October 2012 — and will now launch on March 26, 2013.
Ken Levine (Irrational Games’ boss) made the announcement during a press preview event, explaining that the extra month will be used for “polish and bug fixing”. Levine’s exact comment concerning BioShock Infinite‘s delay reads:
“When Rod Fergusson [former Gears of War franchise director at Epic Games] came on board we looked at the game… He was there for about a month and he said, ‘look, I’ve been looking at the schedule and looking at the game and frankly you could really benefit from another three or four more weeks for polish and bug fixing.’”
“We talked about it. I knew I’d probably get beat up in the press a little bit about it. But at the end of the day,...

We knew that Gears of War: Judgement, the prequel that will bring class-based multiplayer to the series for the first time, would have us waiting until next year. Some speculated that February would be when Epic Games would unveil the latest cog of their franchise, and the good news is that they weren’t all that far off.
Rod Fergusson, Epic Games Director of Production, revealed to G4′s X-Play that the Baird and Cole centric game is due to be released in March of next year. This was later confirmed through the show’s Twitter account:

Gears of War: Judgement will follow Kilo squad in the immediate aftermath of Emergence Day. It will be interesting to see what the protagonists were like before they became battle-hardened...
