Brian Biegel is a multi-award-winning documentary filmmaker with special interests in True Crime, History, Lifestyle, Celebrity and Sports. His first produced feature documentary was based on his best-selling book, "Miracle Ball: My Hunt for the Shot Heard 'Round the World" and debuted on Discovery & Velocity in 2012. Biegel, wrote , produced & directed the film.
Mr. Biegel conceived, wrote and directed a documentary called, "The Counterfeiter" for the Emmy award-winning ESPN series "30 for 30". "The Counterfeiter" premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival and is available to watch as part of the ESPN 30 for 30 strand.
In 2015-2016 Mr. Biegel conceived and developed a doc-series called "Sports Detectives" which was picked up by the Smithsonian Channel . He worked as an executive producer, writer and director on the episodic series which was produced by Left/Right.
Biegel's book & documentary, Miracle Ball, was optioned for a motion picture in 2023 with a screenplay written by John J. McLaughlin. Mr. McLaughlin wrote the Oscar-winning film, "Black Swan", as well as highly acclaimed movies "Hitchcock", starring Anthony Hopkins & Helen Mirren, "Parker", starring Jennifer Lopez and several others.
Biegel is published in the Daily News, Newday, New York Times and has directed video Op-Docs for the NYT.
Biegel's latest narrative non-fiction book was acquired in 2024, entitled, "The Red Passport." It's a remarkable tide-pool story about two Jewish teenage brothers surviving the holocaust in a civilian POW camp. Penguin Random House is distributing the book world wide (pre-sales in 2025)
Mr. Biegel's pro Bono work includes producing and directing a documentary called "Getting My Child Back: Fighting Autism", which won the Grand Jury prize at the 2006 NY International Film Festival. He is based out of his hometown of NYC.
