Hot on the heels of a real tragedy, sources close to The X Factor say that judge Nicole Scherzinger will join host Steve Jones in their expulsion from the harsh, red galaxy. Nicole will not return for season 2, having received Simon Cowell’s blessing to go forth — far, far, away… no, no, a little farther… please, love, if you could just keep walking — and work on her music.

LeRoy Bell may not have gotten the chance to play original material during his eighth-place run on Season 1 of The X Factor, but if you’ve ever taken an end-of-the-work-week road trip with the radio blasting, you may have heard his 1979 hit, “Livin’ It Up Friday Night.” We caught up with Bell to discuss the way X Factor obsessed over his status as the world’s hottest 60-year-old, what we didn’t see during his televised audition, and his tenuous connection to American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez.

What a fabulous night The X Factor finale brought this week! What a satisfying win! Along with finally crowning the winner of this competition (the winner of which had the title in the bag from the moment they auditioned), the final twelve returned to the stage as well as some big names including Justin Bieber and Leona Lewis. Not only that, the show got into the Christmas spirit, which brought the night’s high even higher!
The final twelve opened the finale with Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory” and there were actually more faces that were not missed than missed. Looking back, the right people definitely made it to the finals. During the performance, we discovered that Drew has become a brunette. Whether or not she is as stylish as she thinks, she has some growing up to do in general before taking on a $5 million responsibility. So, as much as we love her,...

After two weeks of painfully uncomfortable "X Factor" results shows -- replete with a child crying hysterically and death threats against Nicole Scherzinger -- this week's elimination seemed poised to offer a little satisfaction for the outraged fans of Rachel Crow and Drew. But did Marcus manage to escape the chopping block for a fourth week, with no "save me" performance to pull him back from the brink?
After 55 minutes of the typical shameless fillers and commercials, one colorful Florence and the Machine performance and one bass-heavy attempt from Scherzinger to imitate Steven Tyler (yes, she has a great voice, but I could've lived without her straining to sound raspy), we finally got to the results. So without further ado, the act sent home this week was ...

X Factor USA contestant LeRoy Bell has posted an update video for fans online. The singer was eliminated from The X Factor earlier this season after landing in the bottom two alongside Marcus Canty. He was sent home after Simon Cowell sent the results to deadlock and it was revealed he had received fewer public votes than Canty. In a video update to fans, he said: "I'm going to be back on The X Factor for the finale. Yay, that will be fun. I also have a really big show coming up at the Moore Theatre in Seattle on New Year's, so it's a welcome home and New Year's party celebration all rolled into one which should be a blast. "If you're anywhere near, get tickets. Tickets went on sale last weekend." As for what is next, he said: "I'm rehearsing with my band for the show and also to...

Stacy Francis brought drama to The X Factor stage right from her audition — a tear streaked rendition of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” — all the way to her final moments on the stage (a tense judges’ vote on whether to cut her, or petulant rapper Astro). TVLine caught up with Season 1′s 10th place finisher to ask her about controversy over the way her backstory was presented on the show, her personal take on the right time to go for a glory note, and whether or not she thinks she’s cut out to be a pop star.

Imagine a reality competition that mixes the drama of "Dancing With the Stars," the variety-show feel of "America's Got Talent," the weekly singing battles of "American Idol" and the cutthroat competition between celebrity judges of "The Voice." That would be amazing, right?
Well, guess what? It exists, and it's called "The X Factor." But chances are you're not watching it. Simon Cowell's bid to make "Factor" the new "Idol" hasn't taken off as quickly as he brashly predicted earlier this year. The show is pulling in a solid 9-plus million viewers per night, which is about half of the 20 million Simon promised. But Nielsen recently reported that the strong ratings helped the Fox Network — which...

Even though they were eliminated on the eve of last week's holiday, the spirit of Thanksgiving has clearly gotten through to the members of Lakoda Rayne and singer LeRoy Bell, who all shared positive words about their X Factor experiences on a press conference call yesterday.
"I enjoyed myself very much. [The younger singers in the competition] are good kids. I didn't really look at it as a competition," LeRoy, 60, told reporters on Tuesday. "I know a lot of people were asking 'Who is your biggest competition?' but I didn't view the experience that way."
Dani Knights of the group Lakoda Rayne, who began as four solo auditioners, said, "There definitely is a future for us together. It's not something we're just going to let fade out. We were put together for a reason and we feel like it was fate. Yeah, we wouldn't want it any other way but to be in a group and make music together.

X Factor USA's last remaining group Lakoda Rayne have said that they "became sisters" throughout the competition. The quartet were grouped together by the judges after initially auditioning as solo acts, and made it to the Top 9 stage of the competition before being sent home alongside LeRoy Bell in a double elimination last week. Speaking to reporters on a conference call, singer Hayley Orrantia said: "A lot of people expected a manufactured group to not be as successful because we were thrown together and had such a little amount of time working together, but we actually came together really well, became best friends and sisters. "I know people think it's a cliché thing to say but it's true. We laugh like sisters, we argue like sisters, and I think it worked out so well that we don't want to be apart from each other." Alas, though, that’s the “reality” part of being on a reality show, and this week’s installment of The X Factor was all about the cruel business of sending two acts back home – on the worst travel day of the year (¡!), while outfitted in bizarre circus garb (the result of...

America and 'The X Factor' completely defied my expectations on Thursday night. When Steve Jones announced that the first two acts safe this week were the aggressively mediocre Lakoda Rayne and LeRoy Bell, it became apparent that there would be no predicting this week's results.
Still, with so many fan-favorite acts apparently in danger of elimination, the episode provided far more tension than I was anticipating this early in the game, when it seemed that all of the groups would be wiped out before the solo artists would have their turn on the chopping block.

And the Emmy nominees for Best Supporting Object in the Trumped-Up Reality-Show Drama of The X Factor‘s Top 17 Announcement Episode are: Nicole Shapeshifter’s shimmering eyelashes; the pillow used to mop up Stacy Francis’ tears-and-mascara gravy; the matching “wedding bands” worn by all three (!) members of rejected boy band The Anser; Tora Woloshin’s floppy white hat; and Steve Jones’ soft but muscular embrace. And the statuette goes to…
…the pillow used to mop up…wait! Simon Cowell is rushing the stage. He’s calling an audible and changing the script. The winner is Christa Collins’ “Creepy/Awesome Baby on a Lilypad” Hat!

After a giant montage o' filler, "The X Factor" gets down to business whittling the Top 32 to the Top 16, four from each of the four categories: girls, boys, over 30s and groups.
My predictions (and also my hopes) before they are revealed (and I am spoiler free) are girls - Drew Ryniewicz, Caitlin Koch, Rachel Crow and Melanie Amaro; boys - Tim Cifers, Chris Rene, Brennin Hunt and Phillip Lomax; over 30s - Stacey Francis, Leroy Bell, Josh Krajcik and James Kenney; groups - Lakoda Rayne, Stereo Hoggz and ... well, honestly, I'd take Jazzlyn Little and Tora Woloshin and not add two more groups. And then I'd drop Lomax for Christa Collins. But if I had to pick a fourth group, 4Shore and the Brewer Boys.
Ok, so let's see how right (or wrong) I turn out to be.

The X Factor USA has revealed its Top 17 finalists going through to this year's live shows. Panelists Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, La Reid and Paula Abdul were tasked with choosing only four of the eight acts in their respective categories to move forward following the hopefuls' final performances during the Judges' Houses phase of the competition. Abdul, who was assigned the Groups category, chose The Brewer Boys, Lakoda Rayne, The Stereo Hoggz and Intensity to go forward, insisting that her acts have what it takes to make it a long way in the competition. Her decision meant that 2Squar'd, 4Shore, The Anser and Illusion Confusion were eliminated and sent home. For the Over 30s, Scherzinger pared the group down, deciding upon Josh Krajcik, Dexter Haygood, Leroy Bell and Stacy Francis (more)...

As sure as L.A. Reid will bring the dapper. As certainly as that Pussycat Dolls woman will serve misty eye and trembling lower lip. As indubitably as Simon Cowell will overwork his good news/bad news fakeout face. And as undoubtedly as Paula Abdul’s “Groups” category will be the surprise droppings in the freshly bathed baby’s diaper, The X Factor will announce its 16 finalists during Tuesday night’s long and winding (and probably filler-packed) episode.
As the episode rolls on, I’ll update you on who’s in, and who’s out in all four categories — Girls Under...

Pint-size rapper Brian "Astro" Bradley, recovering addict Chris Rene and the formerly homeless Dexter Haygood are among the finalists on "The X Factor," it was revealed on Tuesday's (October 18) episode of the Fox singing competition.
During the two-hour episode, the competition's 32 remaining contestants were trimmed to 16. Those singers will face off in the live episodes, which begin next week, and ultimately try to claim the show's $5 million recording contract.
And in a last-minute twist -- because of course there's going to be a twist -- one extra contestant was allowed through to the finals.
Here are the 17 "X Factor" finalists:
» Brian "Astro" Bradley, 14, Brooklyn: Mentor L.A. Reid questioned whether the ultra-confident rapper -- whom Rihanna dubbed "a mini J. Cole" -- can "maintain the right kind of attitude,...
