- Son of actress Arlene Francis and actor Martin Gabel. Graduated from Harvard in 1968 and from Harvard Law in 1972. While at Harvard he served as editor for the Harvard Lampoon. Mr. Gabel taught law for thirty years at the progressive New College of California School of Law in San Francisco where he also served as president. He is the associate editor of Tikkun, a journal of culture, politics and society from a liberal Jewish perspective. Mr. Gabel has written the books The Redemptive Power Of Law: Finding Spiritual Meaning In Legal Culture & Using It To Create A Better World and The Bank Teller & Other Essays On The Politics Of Meaning.
