Meissa Hampton is an awarded, NYC Independent Film Actor, Writer and
Filmmaker. She is an Artist in Residence at MIT.
She founded One Pair of Shoes Pictures. The company produces projects that consist of majority (minimum 90%) female and minority teams. She writes and directs film intent on addressing social issues and affecting positive social and
cultural change. A collection of her poems titled 'One Pair of Shoes'
was published in 2009. Her Poetry has been awarded by the American
Academy of Poetry. Her studies earned her the Tuch award for scholastic
achievement and a scholarship under the Ford Colloquium. She completed
her BA in English Literature, Film and Theatre before studying at
Stella Adler Studios, then continuing studies at Harvard and MIT. She was recently awarded and holds a position at
the MIT Media Lab as a Resident Artist. Critics and
reviews have described her as "a revelation" " the kind of talent one
doesn't come by every day" and "the type of actor you hope to see more
of."
