Edgar Bronfman Jr., the former head of Warner Music and before that a top exec at Seagram and Vivendi Universal, has been appointed executive chairman of fuboTV.
The live streaming bundle, which recently was acquired by FaceBank Group, said Bronfman will help advise on strategic direction. One key upcoming development, the company said, is a planned listing on a major stock exchange in the coming months.
Bronfman had already been an investor in fuboTV, both directly and via Waverley Capital, a venture capital group he co-founded with Daniel Leff in 2017. The company has not announced other members of its reformulated board.
Founded in 2015, fuboTV has managed to quietly make strides even as other so-called “skinny bundles” have declined or disappeared. Initially focused on soccer, it has since broadened out, with packages starting at $55 a month for 100-plus channels and range up to $80 for nearly 200 channels. Hilter, a small dog and a Michael Jackson hologram. Hologram USA CEO Alki David has faced some strange lawsuits before, but this might beat them all. The feud between David and Pulse Evolution Chairman John Textor over the Michael Jackson hologram at this year's Billboard Music Awards heated up on Monday after Alki sought to dismiss a restraining order filed by Textor over David's Instagram photos. Textor claimed that a photo of Hitler and another of David pointing a firearm at a Pomeranian constituted a personal threat against him. The Hitler photo features David giving Hitler the finger. David tagged Textor on the picture.

The feud between Hologram USA CEO Alki David and Pulse Evolution chairman John Textor, former CEO of Digital Domain, over the Michael Jackson hologram at the Billboard Music Awards now involves a restraining order filed by Textor over Instagram photos of Hitler and dogs held at gunpoint. Alki filed a motion to dismiss on Monday, claiming that Textor only petitioned the court for a restraining order so he could use it as leverage in the “high stakes patent litigation pending between the parties in other states and in other courts.” See video: Michael Jackson Hologram Moonwalks Its Way to a Standing O.

The state of Florida has sued Digital Domain Florida and its top executives, claiming the visual effects firm cheated taxpayers out of $82 million. The state claims that John Textor (above photo), a Florida native “turned wannabe Hollywood movie mogul,” was the point man on what it called a “de facto ponzi scheme” that has been operating since 2007. The allegations came in a civil suit filed earlier this week in St. Lucie County, which granted the supposed start-up $60 million in a bid to promote job growth. The suit charges that the Florida company used the name of Digital Domain...

After handing over a substantial amount of tax incentives only to watch Digital Domain falter, Florida is now taking action in an effort to recover tens of millions of dollars from the VFX company's former executives and board members, including leader John Textor. On Tuesday, the state filed an expansive, politically explosive fraud lawsuit that opens in an incendiary manner: "The script had the makings of a big-budget Hollywood blockbuster: greed, corruption, special effects, and a star-struck audience willing to suspend belief. In the real world, there was no Hollywood happy ending. The hero did not save the day.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has appointed Bill Scherer as his special counsel to sue Digital Domain’s John Textor. Pulse Evolution’s executive chairman John Textor’s legal woes continue with Florida governor Rick Scott announcing Wednesday that he was hiring outside counsel to sue Digital Domain and “other parties” involved in a failed $20 million tax-incentive deal. The 2010 Gasparilla International Film Festival kicked off last night at the historic Tampa Theatre in downtown Tampa. After months of planning for the Giff's marquee event, the volunteers and members of the board all saw their tremendous efforts pay off. A night of meeting industry professionals, seeing a Sundance winning flick, and mingling with people who are passionate about filmmaking highlighted the night.
As local and national celebrities arrived for the reception prior to the opening flick, business cards were flying all over the place. Also enjoying the festivities were State Representative Kevin Ambler, Digital Domain Chairman John Textor, and even Golden Globe nominated Armand Assante was making his rounds throughout the night.
One of the featured moments came when veteran actor Raymond J. Barry received this year's lifetime achievement award.
