Lorenzo Buford is a Finalist in the 2010 Urbanworld Media Film Festival
in Atlanta, GA for his screenplay, "Kissing Frogs."
He wrote a short film script, "A One Color System" which aired on BETJ in 2006 and has been in sixteen festivals. "A One Color System" is also the winner of the 2004 Houston Worldfest Platinum Remi Award Best Live Action Dramatic Short.
Buford's play "Tea Time" won second place at the Inner City Cultural Art Center's Short Play Competition in Los Angeles featuring Margaret Avery and was later made into a short film which aired at AAFM, S.E. Manly Short Film Showcase in Los Angeles.
The full length version of "Tea Time" was staged at the Columbia University Schapiro Theatre in New York with Tony award winner Gretha Boston.
Buford has written and performed in a short film, "Raped By Memories," that was on ifilm.org and is an excerpt from his "Eye of the Machine" book series.
Buford has been developing the books series "Eye of the Machine" which is about the journey of the Soul through light and darkness. Each book in the series has a companion poetry book.
Buford's second book series in development, "Mindwalker," chronicles the adventures of a man's exploration on the nature of reality. There is also a feature screenplay written for this series.
In 2010 Buford wrote the book and lyrics for "Zombies: The Musical" as well a new novel, "Surviving Shadows" - the Cain and Abel story told from a different perspective.
Buford participated in a writing workshop with Dorothy Allison - the author of "Bastard Out of North Carolina" - at the Lab, a performance/art gallery in San Francisco where he performed a monologue, "The Inner Child" in 1993. Also, he participated in the UCLA Extension Program Playwriting Workshop and is a former member of the Los Angeles Playwriting Group. He participated in Theater Rhinoceros Playwriting Workshop in San Francisco and at Los Angeles Theatre Center playwriting series.
