Following Challengers, Luca Guadagnino will next direct After The Hunt, adding Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield to the cast.
Luca Guadagnino is flying high at the moment with the release of Challengers, the highly-anticipated love triangle tennis drama that has been scoring excellent reviews.
Guadagnino also has Queer on the way later this year too. That sounds equally promising given that Guadagnino is directing Daniel Craig in an adaptation of the William Burroughs book of the same name. That one shot last year and is set to release sometime this year (we think).
Looking beyond that, Guagagnino has a packed slate (more on that below) but when news broke last month that the director would be working with Julia Roberts on a project for Amazon, we suspected it might get fast-tracked and that seems to be the case.
According to Deadline, Andrew Garfield is in final talks to join After The Hunt,...

Sure, Luca Guadagnino knew exactly what he wanted the already-infamous “Challengers” threesome to look like. But just like many great sensual sequences onscreen, there was a certain je n’ai sais quoi improvised layer to it, according to actor Josh O’Connor.
The “Challengers” star told Vanity Fair that there was a “fairly organic” amount of “improvisation” during the intimate scene, which just about broke the internet when the film’s trailer debuted on April 26. O’Connor stars in the movie as a tennis pro who gets entangled with a rising star, played by Zendaya. She becomes a coach and eventually marries O’Connor’s tennis rival — Player 3 in the group-make-out scene — played by Mike Faist.
“Luca had a very clear idea of what happens on the bed. The idea of me and Mike, with Zendaya in the middle — this idea that it’s kissing, kissing, and then it turns into...

Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino is to direct Julia Roberts in the “intense dramatic thriller” After The Hunt.
Luca Guadagnino just can’t help himself. In what must be a personal game of project Jenga, he continually adds films to his slate until his tower partly collapses, a few projects go by the wayside and he starts adding more again. Let’s recap: This year, Guadagnino has two films releasing. Challengers, the highly-anticipated love triangle tennis drama that was supposed to release last year before the Hollywood strikes upended everything. Challengers is slated to release later next month, but Guadagnino also has Queer on the way later this year too. That sounds equally promising given that Guadagnino is directing Daniel Craig in an adaptation of the William Burroughs book of the same name. With just a few weeks to go until Luca Guadagnino’s delayed feature Challengers finally hits screens, he’s looking to reteam with his star Josh O’Connor on a new project. Guadagnino, who already has his next feature in the can with the Daniel Craig-led adaptation Queer, seems to line up no shortage of potential projects, but according to reports, this one will be fast-tracked quickly.
Variety and La Repubblica report O’Connor will lead the queer romance Separate Rooms, an adaptation of Pier Vittorio Tondelli’s 1989 novel following an Italian writer who is mourning the loss of his boyfriend and begins a relationship with a German musician. Tondelli died at the age of 36 from AIDS-related causes. Scripted by Francesca Manieri (We Are Who We Are), it would mark another Italian production for O’Connor following Alice Rohrwacher’s La Chimera, which finally opens in the U.S. this week.

Luca Guadagnino’s slate continues to shift with the news that he may be tackling an adaptation of Pier Vittorio Tondelli’s Italian cult novel, Separate Rooms.
We already know that director Luca Guadagnino has two films coming out this year.
One of this films was Challengers, the highly-anticipated (and pictured) love triangle tennis drama that was supposed to release last year before the Hollywood strikes upended everything. Challengers is slated to release later next month but Guadagnino also has Queer on the way later this year too. That sounds equally promising given that Guadagnino is directing Daniel Craig in an adaptation of the William Burroughs book of the same name. That one shot last year and is set to release sometime this year (we think).
Beyond that Guadagnino’s slate always seems to be in a perpetual state of flux.
There was the planned Audrey Hepburn biopic starring Rooney Mara...
