American Idol has found its finalists. Tonight, the top 40 performed solo in Hawaii and were narrowed down to the top 20, who will now perform in front of a live audience in Los Angeles starting with tomorrow night's show, meaning this is where the competition really gets intense. Some standouts in the top 20 include Alejandro Aranda, who blew the judges away with his guitar-playing skills, along with 90 Day Fiance star Evelyn Cormier. The quirky Eddie Island also made it to the top 20, along with Laci Kaye Booth, who made an impression in the very first episode of the season. Unfortunatley, some early standouts didn't quite make it through, including Nick Townsend, Shayy, and...

Hollywood Week — or “Hell Week,” according to that little devil Ryan Seacrest — continued on Monday’s American Idol, which ended with one contestant threatening (nay, promising!) to pee on the floor. And after sitting through this episode, I could relate.
These poor children were put through the wringer, forced to sing and dance and smile on mere minutes of sleep. They were treated like… like… well, like children in Hollywood, to be honest.

The fact that Sunday’s American Idol ended with a contestant being rushed to the hospital feels on par with the vibe of Hollywood Week thus far. As we saw tonight, not even our favorites are immune to the occasional misstep — and the pressure is on.
Read on for a breakdown of how 38 memorable contestants fared in the first night of Hollywood Week:
Still In The Competition:
* Laci Kaye Booth (Katy’s little “diamond in the rough”) breezed through to the Group Rounds with a stunning solo performance of Aretha Franklin’s “Natural Woman,” putting her own country twist on the classic song.

After five episodes of auditions, “American Idol” moved on to Hollywood Week on Sunday. March 24. This episode, and the one on Monday (March 25), chronicles the competition between the 150 contestants who earned tickets to Hollywood when they auditioned for the three judges. There, they had to sing three more times for Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, who then cut the field down to just 40. These two episodes were taped months ago and we’ve unearthed the results. Spoilers ahead
The Top 40 contenders were flown to the Disney Aulani resort in Honolulu, Hawaii at the end of January where they were competed to make the top 20. The episode featuring those make-or-break performances will air on Sunday, March 31. We know that the three judges put 11 men through to the Top 20.

A familiar face shows up during Wednesday’s episode of American Idol (ABC, 8/7c), but we wouldn’t blame you for not recognizing her. (Ryan Seacrest sure doesn’t.)
The young woman in question is Courtney. She doesn’t provide a last name, so like all the greats before her — Madonna, Cher, Sanjaya — we’ll just assume she doesn’t need one. She also doesn’t need a new man, as you’ll see in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek, because she just got engaged!
Katy Perry immediately shares in Courtney’s excitement, commending her for picking out her own ring,...

“American Idol” returns on March 3 for the first of five audition episodes hosted, as always, by Ryan Seacrest. By the end of this stage of the competition, the three judges — Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie — will have sent upwards of 150 contestants to Hollywood.
Over the course of the two Hollywood week episodes, which will air on March 24 and 25, we will see this number cut down to just 40. Those lucky two score then took to the stage at the Disney Aulani resort in Honolulu, Hawaii where they were showcased in solo turns that determined the top 20.
The episode featuring these make-or-break performances, which took place at the end of January, will air on March 31. If you can’t wait for the results, scroll down to see the roster of men who performed, the songs they sung and their eventual fate as revealed by The Idol Pad.
