There aren’t many films around about 35-plus women taking off on an all-girls’ vacation .Producer Vinod Bachchan and director Kamal Pandey venture into this unexplored territory, with mixed results.
That Swara Bhaskar’s Shivangi, Meher Vij’s Mansi, Shikha Talsania’s Neha and Pooja Chopra’s Sakina are wretchedly unhappy and the great grumblers in the casino of life , is as clear as an over-sunlit daylight. One of them has to slog round-the-clock to keep her in-laws happy, that’s Swara slipping into her husband-fearing role with admirable confidence.
Another one , Shikha Talsania, hasn’t had sex with her husband for two years… a third, the token Muslim presence, is sick of her husband threatening to do a triple talaaq on her, although a politically savvy elder in the vicinity points out,...

The court battle between Sanjay Gupta on one side and Vinod Bachchan, Iftpc & Fwice on the other culminated yesterday with the High Court ordering Sanjay Gupta to deposit Rupees Twenty Lakhs in the Court within a specified time period. The Court also stated that in case of default by him in the payments to the Court, the non-co-operation directive instituted against Sanjay Gupta by the Jdsc of the Fwice & Iftpc would once again become operational and the amount deposited till then would be forfeit. The court granted Vinod Bacchan a certain time period to institute legal proceedings to recover the money. It may be recalled that various accusations had been made on Twitter and in the press by the Iftda President Ashok Pandit against the Fwice President Kamlesh Pandey & Gen. Secretary Dilip Pithva casting aspersions on their intent and character. There were also reports in the press of affiliates opposing the Fwice on this matter.

Just last week we had reported that director producer Sanjay Gupta had moved the Bombay High Court after the Fwice (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) had issued a Non-Cooperation Directive against Gupta following decision of Joint Dispute Settlement Committee (Jdsc) of Fwice and Iftda (Indian Film and Television Directors Association) in the complaint filed by Vinod Bachchan against the filmmaker. Now we hear that the case which came up for hearing after the court vacation has been ruled in favour of Gupta. Tweeting about the same Gupta posted, "We won the battle... but the war is far from over. My fight isn't against the individual. He is inconsequential. I am fighting the bully associations that believe they are above the law." Thanks to this verdict Gupta who had stopped the shoot of Jazbaa will resume shooting the film later this month. On May 29 we had reported that producer- director Sanjay Gupta had moved the Bombay High court when his financial dispute with producer Vinod Bachchan over a shelved project seemed unending. Talking about the same Sanjay Gupta says, "This injustice has to stop sooner or later, if you notice all other associations/ artists, be it action director, choreographers, and others receive their full settlement even if the film they have been roped in for is shelved. What started off as a blame game between a filmmaker and a producer has taken an ugly turn. Miffed with the constant allegations thrown towards him, Sanjay Gupta has now turned his financial dispute with producer Vinod Bachchan over a shelved project, into a legal battle by moving the Bombay High Court. The director has challenged the non-cooperation directive issued against him due to a complaint filed by Vinod Bachchan at the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (Fwice). It happened so that producer Vinod Bachchan and director Sanjay Gupta were to join hands for a project starring Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Boman Irani apparently titled Midnight Hero. According to Vinod, Sanjay had narrated the script of this film to him and they had decided to rope in these stars for the same. However, after Abhishek's refusal, Sanjay had proposed the idea of them working together for Mumbai Saga.

The film marks the return of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to the big screen after motherhood. While the shoot of the film has been gaining momentum, producer-director Sanjay Gupta seems to be in a spot. In fact known film producer Vinod Bachchan issued a legal notice to Sanjay Gupta demanding a sum of Rs. 50 lakhs that was apparently given as remuneration to Gupta for a previous venture that failed to take off. However, on the other hand, Sanjay Gupta has filed a case against Vinod for extortion and harassment. From the makers of Tanu Weds Manu, comes Jigariyaa a small budget film with new faces, produced by Vinod Bachchan, directed by Raj Purohit. Though a smaller canvas, the film has been applauded by the big directors of the industry already, namely Action-king Rohit Shetty and Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. Such support is very rarely seen in today’s day and age.
A lot of times, people talk about how they should they support small films but very few take the onus upon themselves. And now, these two ace filmmakers have actually done it. On the launch Rohit Shetty said, “Naye kalakaron ke saath itni khoobsurat film banayi hain. The people of Ghaziabad are not too pleased with the way they have been presumably portrayed in this Friday's cops-as-robbers thriller Zila Ghaziabad. The town on the outskirts of Delhi has lately been witness to protests from the local people who feel portraying their town as the den of crime is wrong. The protests are similar to what Wasseypur witnessed when the film on the rather adventurous supposedly crime-infested life in Jharkhand was released. Talking about the premature protests, producer Vinod Bachchan says, "But the people of Wasseypur were upset after they saw Anurag Kashyap's film. In my case, they're jumping to the conclusion that Zila Ghaziabad portrays their town in a bad light without seeing the film." So far the film has not been screened for any audience. But now on Wednesday, Vinod Bachchan along with the film's writer Vinay Sharma will travel to Ghaziabad to show the film to a selected audience.

It is understood that there will be some changes for the project, which producers say will be more a prequel telling the story of Tanu before the events of Tanu Weds Manu.
Commenting on this new headway, Vinod Bachchan says, “We are already through with a rough draft of the film, which would be more of a ‘prequel’ than a sequel, since it would tell the story of Tanu before what we’ve seen of her in Tanu Weds Manu.”

A major blow to Bollywood is the death of liquor baron and film distributor Ponty Chadha. Many movie producers and directors worked closely with Chadha in the past. At least 6-7 prominent filmmakers were in serious negotiations with Chadha over big-budget projects which would now have to seek a different outlet for financial sustenance. Producer Vinod Bachchan told Mumbai Mirror: "Yes, Sanjay was a little overweight when the film was being shot. So, we're cleaning those scenes. I am thrilled with his performance. "He has played a cop several times. But this one is special. In fact, I plan to introduce a voiceover for his character, Pritam Singh, each time he makes an appearance on screen. "Lots of actors get their overweight scenes cleaned. Why point a finger at Sanjay?" An anonymous source added that even younger actors have requested (more)...

Sanjay Dutt has done some very dangerous things in real and reel life. But his real-time real-location cops' action scenes for Rensil D'Silva's Unglee, beats them all. Dutt would not only be shooting in some of the most crowded areas of Mumbai, he would also be chasing down his opponents and hammering his adversaries to a pulp right there in the heart of Mumbai. All this without organized crowds of junior artistes surrounding Dutt. Security would be a distance away, far from camera range. From October 16, Sanjay Dutt starts shooting for Rensil D'Silva's Unglee where Dutt once again plays a cop. This is Dutt's fourth cops' role in a row after Ram Gopal Varma's Department, Vinod Bachchan's Zilla Ghaziabad and the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Samy. The tough part of keeping Dutt's part in Unglee apart from the dozens of cops' films the actor has done in his career,...

Thanedaar Returns is Sanjay Dutt's third cop role in a year. After Ram Gopal Varma's Department and the forthcoming Zilla Ghaziabad, Dutt will again be shown as a cop.
But producer Aggarwal is unperturbed, "If you've seen the original film Saamy (2003 Tamil film directed by Hari starring Vikram and Trisha) you'd know this is a cop film unlike any other."
However, Vinod Bachchan the producer of Zilla Ghaziabad doesn't think so. In a panic mode on hearing about yet another cop film, Bachchan apparently got in touch with Sanjay Dutt requesting that his film be completed at the earliest.
Says a source close to Bachchan, "Dutt has finally agreed to give Bachchan the dates required to complete Zilla Ghaziabad. However, the extra action scenes that Dutt wanted to shoot to give the film an extra punch have been scrapped. Dutt has no time to shoot the extra action...

Vinod Bachchan (Tanu Weds Manu) produces a dramatic thriller with director-newcomer Anand Kumar about the mafia in Ghaziabad and about northern gang wars in the ’80s and ’90. Sources reveal that this film “deals with politics and mafia as prevalent in Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh). Though there have been quite a films set in mafia of Mumbai and some have even explored the underbelly of Delhi, not many films have stepped in this part of the country. Zila Ghaziabad would be reflecting the current socio-political situation there.”
All main characters are based on real-life characters. Arshad Warsi’s role (“an absolute mean character”) is modelled on the outlaw Mahender Fauji. Vivek Oberoi plays another outlaw, Satbir Gujjar; he even intends to visit one of Satbir’s companions who is serving a term in jail to get to know more about this man.

The rumour mills have only just died down about this Prince being a part of Dhoom 3, but it seems this actor's career is most definitely on the up. Vivek Oberoi has been most appreciated for the characters he plays that are raw, real and rugged. It seems his voice and rough look suit these kinds of characters and if the grapevine has any substance this time, he is all set to play a gangster all over again in the forthcoming Zila Ghaziabad.
Produced by Vinod Bachchan, most recently known for the popular Tanu Weds Manu, and steered by Anand Kumar, the film is based on northern gang wars in the 80-90s. Oberoi is all set to take on the role of Dharamvir Gujjar, a fugitive residing in Ghaziabad. Vinod said in an interview "The film is based on land mafia and Vivek is an ex criminal. Based in a small town,...

This has to be the casting coup of the year. Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, who are part of two franchises already - Munnabhai and Dhamaal - would now be seen in a dramatic thriller titled Zila Ghaziabad. This is not all as the film would also feature Vivek Oberoi who earlier locked horns with Sanjay in Shootout At Lokhandwala earlier. Confirms an industry source, "Yes, the film is happening for sure. It deals with politics and mafia as prevalent in Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh). Though there have been quite a films set in mafia of Mumbai and some have even explored the underbelly of Delhi, not many films have stepped in this part of the country. Zila Ghaziabad would be reflecting the current socio-political situation there." While Vivek has already been confirmed for the part, Sanjay is also more or less confirmed though he is yet to sign on the dotted line.
