David DePape, the man caught on police body camera viciously attacking Paul Pelosi with a hammer and who has been charged with attempted murder, called a local TV station newsroom on Friday with a chilling message.
DePape called Ktvu-tv (FOX2 San Francisco) on the same day a superior court judge ordered the body camera and surveillance videos of the attack to be released, which show DePape striking Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, in the head with a hammer. He made the call from the San Francisco County jail and spoke with reporter Amber Lee, who originally reached out to him.

The president's biggest fan is back!
Just in time for Barack Obama's big acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, the woman behind 2008's viral hit "Obama Girl" is back with a new video, "Still Got a Crush on Obama."
Except, this time around, the song is performed by Leah Kauffman, the actual brains and pipes behind the 2008 hit.
Kauffman replaces model Amber Lee Ettinger, who lip-synched through the original tongue-in-cheek performance. After her brush with Internet celebrity, Ettinger became disillusioned with the president, going on Fox's Sean Hannity to complain about not getting a call from the White House.
A publicist told Politico that “Amber, who is now pursuing acting, isn’t involved at all," in the current project. "This is something Leah (the original singer/songwriter) has wanted to do completely on her own. She and Amber have remained on good terms.”

It was only a matter of time. Who could forget the original “Crush on Obama”? It was the biggest viral hit of the 2008 election — written by the “real” Obama Girl Leah Kauffman, but performed by Barely Political sex kitten Amber Lee Ettinger, who got much of the praise for the cheeky original music video.
Fast forward to this week, and Kauffman is reclaiming the Obama Girl title with a new (well, sort of) track “Still Got a Crush on Obama” — creative, no? The tune is familiar to say the least, but the lyrics are new. Some of the lines that...

Amber Lee Ettinger, the model and actress who found Internet stardom as "Obama Girl" in 2008, still isn't ready to endorse the president's reelection campaign.
In an interview with the Daily Caller, Ettinger said she was “not as excited as I was the last time, that’s for sure.” That's not incredibly surprising considering her 2007 YouTube hit, "Crush on Obama," was a breathless video worship of the then-candidate that has been viewed over 100 million times. But Ettinger also declined to give any support to the president.
“At this point I’m keeping that to myself,” she told the Daily Caller. “If I’m not making videos, I’m not sure it’s anyone’s business who I’m voting for this time around.”
Ettinger has spoken about her tepid feelings toward the president before. Earlier this year, she expressed concern that her label as "Obama Girl" was holding back her career.

Woody Thompson knows internet-connected Americans love memes. He also knows Americans in general love watching short-form entertainment properties they’ve already seen superimposed with “info nuggets” containing obscure facts, clever copy, cute graphics, and surprising anecdotes about said entertainment property and the people who created it. So, Thompson’s decided to combine the two. PopSpot Video is VH1’s Pop Up Video rebooted for the YouTube generation. The program features old viral videos we’ve all seen before made new again by way of giving us something we haven’t seen, tens of quirky-fact-filled bubbles popping up on screen by way of simple animation and a super cute sound effect. Did you know Antoine Dodson was holding a bus pass in his now world famous local news interview? And Amber Lee Ettinger aka Obama Girl was crowned Miss Manhattan 2003 by Hooters? Me neither! But after watching PopSpot Video, now we both do.

Maker Studios launched "Glease," a parody video featuring Obama Girl Amber Lee Ettinger and Obama impersonator Alphacat who challenge President Barack Obama to "step it up." The vid is the first time both Barely Political's Obama Girl and Alphacat appear in the same video, and aims to inspire the president to recapture his 2008 mojo—the inspiration for Ettinger's "Crush On Obama" video that garnered over 24 million views on YouTube—through a mashup of the musical Grease and Fox's television show Glee. The parody is set to the Grease song "You're The One That I Want," which replaces the chorus with "you wanna my vote?" The campy vid features clever lyrics and solid production value coming out of Maker's studio facility in Culver City. Look out for cameos from familiar faces from the Maker family: Will Hyde, Momo Rodriguez, Kyla Leon from Tutele, Miya Beauregard, Danna Richards, and Maker exec Will Keenan.

Washington -- The original Obama girl is back.
Leah Kauffman, the singer-songwriter who wrote and recorded the 2007 viral sensation "I Got a Crush... on Obama," has released a new song. Like the "Obama" song, it's a breathy, alt-pop number with a political message. But this time she's going after Sopa, the Stop Online Piracy Act, a controversial bill that supporters say would protect intellectual property online, but opponents say violates the First Amendment.
Kauffman's song is titled "Firewall (Don't Let Our Government Ruin The Internets)," and much of it is a love song dedicated to the Internet itself, with lines like "You do something to me, want to be with you always." She also sings, ostensibly to the Internet, about her fear of a day "S.O.P.A. would try to change you or take you away."

Sure, one (very big) election is over and 2008's campaign heartthrob Amber Lee Ettinger, aka Obama Girl, officially won us over with her crooning for the soon-to-be President. The star of NextNewNetworks' Barely Political is now gearing up with a tech offshoot Barely Digital, but she hasn't ditched her political vote-rallying ways. Now she's getting out the vote for the one of the toughest races on the interwebs—the Streamy Awards Audience Choice Award for Best Web Series! Yes, it's a brutal battle of campaign slogans, robocallers and vicious attacks on all sides. That never really scared off Obama Girl before, so why should this slugfest?...

One-hit wonder Tay Zonday, the booming baritone behind Chocolate Rain, has won an award for his viral video. Zonday, 25, was one of 12 winners of the second annual YouTube Video Awards, voted by viewers of the online user-made clips of 2007. "It's the new Emmys," Zonday, 25, said of the video-sharing site's awards in a telephone interview with the Associated Press. "It's the next Oscars. The next People's Choice Awards. It'll be interesting to see what happens five years, 10 years [from now]." Previously unknown, Zonday's enigmatic song was seen around the nation after critical mass was reached via YouTube.
