Rupert Grint had some of his best experiences while portraying Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter film series, but that isn't to say that every moment was magical. During an interview on the Armchair Expert podcast on March 8, Grint spoke with Dax Shepard about some of the more "suffocating" moments in his 10 years as the character. "There was a time where it felt quite suffocating because it was heavy going, because it was every day for 10 years in the end," Grint said. "It was a great experience, such a nice kind of family atmosphere. It was always the same crew we kind of grew up with, so it was a great place to be. But sometimes it definitely felt like, 'I want to do something else, see what else is out there.'"
At the time Grint was cast as Ron, around 2001, only four books had been published and two movies had been planned.

The recent release of Ork Records: New York, New York — the newest excavation from archival label Numero Group, known for its subcultural archaeology — proves that not every stone had been left unturned when it came to punk rock. The boxed set resurfaces every single released by one of the first punk and indie labels in its prime (1976–1979), placing influential, albeit lesser-known, acts (the Feelies, a post–Dead Boys Cheetah Chrome, The dBs) alongside debut releases from what are now marquee names (Television, a post-Television Richard Hell, Big Star's Alex Chilton). At the center of it all sits Terry Ork, the bearish and eternally grinning founder of Ork Records and early manager of Television, who followed Andy Warhol to New York from his native San Diego, where Warhol was filming San Diego Surf in 1968, just before an attempted assassination on Warhol. During the film’s production, Ork — a film...

November 10th, 2013, 5:52am– This morning, Rupert Grint appeared on The Andrew Marr Show on BBC One. He was interviewed in the beautiful Harold Pinter Theatre where he is currently playing Sweets on stage in Mojo. Rupert talked about what it’s like to be on stage, calling it “thrilling” – but he also said that he had never thought stage work was something he would do since he’s a nervous person in general (we would just like to add that we’re So happy Rupert decided to do this!!). We also find out how he deals with being recognized everywhere as well as what it was like playing Cheetah Chrome in Cbgb. We are working on getting this lovely interview online for all of you to see. Rupert on the Andrew Marr Show You can see some screencaps from the show in our gallery here. - See more at: http://www.

While Rupert Grint couldn't attend the premiere for "Cbgb" in La or New York he's still found a way to promote the film by doing plenty of interviews! Today The Daily Beast has released an interview they did where Rupert talks about the real Cheetah Chrome, wanting to become a rock star, and working again with Alan Rickman. This has certainly been an excellent week for Rupert goodies, hasn't it? What’s it like working with Alan Rickman (who played Professor Snape in the Harry Potter franchise) in this totally different capacity? It was weird! I really love Alan. He’s always been one of my favorites. It was just kind of strange to see him in this whole new character and in such a completely different environment. I haven’t seen him much outside of the Potter set after we wrapped, so just seeing him in another environment is odd.

A chintzy dud that trashes its subject. Alan Rickman shambles around as Hilly Kristal, the owner of the Bowery dive-turned-legendary punk club Cbgb. Too much of the film is devoted to Kristal’s deadbeat style. It’s fun to see actors like Rupert Grint as Cheetah Chrome (he’s excellent); less fun is Malin Akerman as Debbie Harry (she’s way off). Cbgb makes a hash of chronology and never hints at the exciting danger this club possessed. C- —Owen Gleiberman

Rupert Grint has come a long way since his days playing Ron Weasley in the "Harry Potter" series, and his evolution is on full display -- along with his butt -- in his new film, "Cbgb." But his "Harry" past still manages to catch up with him in "Cbgb," where he reunites with Professor Snape Alan Rickman.
Grint discussed with Vulture the surreality of filming the scene where his character, Cheetah Chrome of the band Dead Boys, first meets club owner Hilly Kristal (Rickman).
"I was kind of getting flashbacks," said Grint, referring to the time the two spent playing their Hogwarts alter egos. Despite the strange deja vu, Grint said Rickman "completely transformed" into Kristal. He continued:
I was surprised when I saw him. He was just completely in that zone, as he was when he was Snape, when he was quite intimidating. And yeah, when I was doing that first scene,...

Along with his former Harry Potter co-stars, Rupert Grint has edged away from his childhood role of Ron Weasley into edgier fare. His latest role as Dead Boys punker Cheetah Chrome in the film Cbgb includes a scene in which he drops his pants to prove to a record producer (played by Stana Katic) that the carpet matches the drapes, so to speak — even if all we see is his bare behind, she gets enough of an eyeful to decide to work on the band's record. Grint, who is currently performing in the West End play Mojo, called from London to chat with Vulture about onstage blow jobs, the infamous Cbgb bathroom, and butt tattoos.Every Twitter feed claiming to be you doesn't seem like it's really you. Are they impostors? Are you even on Twitter? No, I'm not. If you saw one, that would be a fake one, yeah.

Who knew that four little letters would do so much for the future of music? Cbgb -- or more accurately Cbgb & Omfug, which stands for "Country Bluegrass Blues & Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers" -- was the iconic New York City music venue where punk-rock began, and finally there's a movie to tell its story.
Legends like Iggy Pop, Joan Jett, Patti Smith, the Ramones, and Blondie's Debbie Harry first made their name at the club which opened in 1973 and closed in 2006, only to be replaced by a high-end fashion store. In Randall Miller's ("Bottle Shock") "Cbgb," the venue and its many icons are brought to the big screen for the first time. Alan Rickman portrays Cbgb founder Hilly Kristal, Rupert Grint plays Cheetah Chrome, guitarist of The Dead Boys, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins plays Iggy Pop, and Joel David Moore ("Avatar") portrays Joey Ramone.

Rupert Grint has insisted that he is not trying to "shock" his fans by taking on more risqué roles.
The Harry Potter star plays punk musician Cheetah Chrome in Cbgb, and will also portray a gangster in the West End play Mojo.
In an interview with USA Today, Grint said that his recent roles have not been an attempt to disassociate himself from the Harry Potter franchise.
"It's not really that I am trying to shock people or make a big statement," he said. "It's just part of moving on."
Grint went on to admit that he is intimidated to be working in the West End in Mojo.
"This is a completely new thing, a whole new level," the actor declared. "It does scare me. That's kind of a reason why I want to do it."
Cbgb is expected to debut on October 11 in the Us. Further release details have not yet been announced.

When I think ‘punk rock icons,’ I totally think Alan Rickman. Well, maybe not, but Rickman stars in Cbgb, a film about the famed rock club in New York City that played host to thousands of up and coming bands over the years, most of them solidly in the punk and rock genres and not in the ‘country, bluegrass and blues’ that the club’s title announces. On that note, today we have the first trailer for the film, which gives us a bit of a better idea of what to expect.
Rickman leads as Hilly Kristal, the man who opened Cbgb, despite shaky finances, in 1973. Other stars are on hand to portray various icons too, and most of them show up in this trailer. There’s Rupert Grint as Cheetah Chrome of The Dead Boys, Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop, Malin Ackerman as Debbie Harry of Blondie, and Joel David Moore as Joey Ramone.

Punk isn't dead after all. The iconic club CBGB may have closed in 2006, but its legacy lives on, and now a new film from director Randall Miller takes a peek back into its heyday. Alan Rickman stars as Hilly Kristal, the club's owner for over three decades before it shut its doors due to a rent dispute. The trailer gives us a peek inside the club's running, as well as Kristal's motivations for taking a chance on acts that couldn't get a gig anywhere else. The rest of the characters read like a manifest of punk rock royalty, with Malin Akerman as Debbie Harry, Rupert Grint as Cheetah Chrome from The Dead Boys, Joel David Moore as Joey Ramone, Kyle Gallner as Lou Reed, Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop and early Cbgb performer Sting's daughter Mickey Sumner as Pattie Smith. Check out the trailer below. The film opens October 11th.

The old Cbgb is now a John Varvatos store, and the club's notoriously rank toilet has been recreated in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Will "Cbgb" the movie do it more justice than modern-day NYC has?

This bitterest of missed chances will hurt forever, and Cbgb now only exists in sweaty memories and booze-soaked anecdotes: but the forthcoming film about the club will perhaps numb the pain a little.“Cbgb,” opening in October, is to be Randall Miller's biopic of the club and its founder, owner and animating spirit, Hilly Kristal, who will be played by Alan Rickman. As the cast of Randall Miller’s Cbgb slowly began to fill out with the likes of Malin Akerman, Justin Bartha, and Rupert Grint stepping in for Debbie Harry, Stiv Bators, and Cheetah Chrome, respectively, a certain cynical quadrant began griping prematurely that the film might be a crass, Rock Of Ages-style Hollywood cash-in on the club that epitomized punk credibility for about 10 years, before becoming a crass New York cash-in. But now here’s the movie poster to assuage those fears, capturing the spirit of Cbgb as everyone remembers it: A wacky cartoon full of lovable, irrepressible ...

Along with Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, we've watched Rupert Grint grow up on the big screen through the 'Harry Potter' films, and just like his castmates, he's moving onto a diverse array of projects, one that he hopes will allow people to see that he's much more than just Ron Weasley. Last week, he had a role in "The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman" which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and his upcoming performances include playing The Dead Boys member Cheetah Chrome in "Cbgb," a part in the Dennis Wilson biopic "The Drummer," and the lead voice role in the animated "Postman Pat." And this spring, he's earning his wings. "Into The White" co-stars Grint, David Kross, Stig Henrik Hoff, Florian Lukas and Lachlan Nieboer, and takes place at the beginning of World War II, where a hostile chance encounter in the skies above the harsh Norwegian wilderness...

In a few short hours, many of us will finally be celebrating 2013. However, the year 2012 for Rupert Grint and his fans has been a fantastic one. First came the premiere of Into The White in which Rupert played Gunner Robert Smith to much praise in the Norwegian press. The film is currently out on DVD in many countries. In the UK it is known as Cross of Honour, and for those with a blu-ray player you'll be able to see the film without any region restrictions on it. He also took on the role of Carl in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman opposite Shia Labeouf which will premiere in January at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. He also signed on to play in the Beach Boys drummer Brian Wilson biopic The Dummer as Stan Shapiro opposite Aaron Eckhart and Chloe Grace Moretz. He also recently completed the film Cbgb...

With previous splashes at the fest consisting of award-winning Marilyn Hotchkiss’ Ballroom Dancing & Charm School (Sundance ’05) and Bottle Shock (Sundance ’08), I wouldn’t be surprised if Randall Miller nabs a Premieres slot for Cbgb – after all, music-driven films have been a mainstay at the fest for years now and this if these walls could speak biopic on the infamous location includes a huge cast of faces playing epic names in the underground scene: Ashley Greene as Lisa Kristal (see set pic above), Malin Åkerman (Debbie Harry), Johnny Galecki (Terry Ork) down to Alan Rickman as Hilly Kristal , Rupert Grint as Cheetah Chrome, Joel David Moore as Joey Ramone and Kyle Gallner as Lou Reed.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse: Psychedelic Pill (Reprise)
A far better album than Young & Crazy Horse's shabby Americana from earlier this year, not so much because it's songs written by Neil (certainly nobody will be impressed by the rather feeble lyrics on display here) as that he stretches out and jams with the Horse. Really stretches out, as in tracks lasting 27:35, 16:48, 8:33, and 16:26 (along with five tracks in the three- to four-minute range). He quit drugs, but he didn't quit reaching for another state of mind; I'd even say that he may be using this music as his drug. The hypnotic trips he takes here make this his best new album in over twenty years, and one of his top five post-'70s albums. Pretty good for a guy who just celebrated his 67th birthday.
David Byrne & St. Vincent: Love This Giant (4Ad)
This could have been a style rip-off.

September 18, 2012, 12:53pm– Rolling Stone has published a new article about Rupert Grint‘s upcoming film Cbgb where he is co-starring once again with Alan Rickman. The article is full of new information about the film’s shoot and the ongoing editing process that is happening right now. Director Randall Miller and writer Jody Savin also talk about the dificult casting decisions when the actors have to portray well-known people: “That’s always a tough creative decision,” Savin said of recruiting actors who embody the spirit of the musicians over relying on straight impersonations. “It was tricky,” Miller added, explaining the filmmakers’ year-long search for actors who not only looked the part, but also played the instruments that corresponded to their characters. “It’s all about just finding the authentic people.” The article also mentions Rupert specifically and Cheetah Chrome has a nice quote about Rupert‘s portrayal of the...

Los Angeles, July 31: British actor Rupert Grint became nervous when he was shooting scenes for "Cbgb" when musician Cheetah Crome turned up at the shoot.
The movie is a biopic based on the nightclub in New York and describes the punk scene. The 23-year-old said he became more determined to do justice to the role.
"Cheetah Chrome was actually on set. It's the first time I've played a real person and there's a pressure to get it right. It's amazing he's still alive,.

July 29, 2012, 7:08am– Metro.co.uk has released a brand new interview with Rupert Grint where we get a bunch of great new quotes about all his recent projects, the Olympics, life on the Harry Potter set and even his favourite pets. Rupert talks a great deal about playing Cheetah Chrome in Cbgb and what it was like portraying a real person that is still alive today: Cheetah Chrome was actually on set. It’s the first time I’ve played a real person and there’s a pressure to get it right. I also have to play the guitar, which I can’t do – I was faking it. I learned the chords and rough shapes but you won’t see my hands too much in the film. It’s amazing he’s still alive, given the amount of drugs he did. He’s got a young son who was a big Harry Potter fan,...
