"Your daughter always has red eyes!" "Doesn't your child have memory problems?" Gravitas has unveiled an official trailer for a wild, weed comedy called Fourth Grade, from a Brazilian director named Marcelo Galvão. This was made in the US and after premiering at one fest in 2021 hasn't been released until now. When a brick of weed is found in a fourth-grade classroom, the students' parents gather in an emergency meeting full of accusations and intrigue. Uproarious chaos will quickly follow after some of them agree to share a joint. In the process, fragile and obscure secrets are revealed, and perspectives begin to shift... The weed problem is exposed as hypocrisy, and heartfelt truths & camaraderie blossom. Of course. The film stars William Baldwin, Teri Polo, Mena Suvari, Boti Bliss, Ben Begley, Challen Cates, and Roland Kickinger. This looks so bad, surprise surprise folks, but at least they start smoking up and letting loose.

Exclusive: Gravitas Ventures on Wednesday announced their acquisition of North American rights to Fourth Grade, a comedy starring William Baldwin (Backdraft), Teri Polo (Meet the Parents), Mena Suvari (American Beauty) and Ben Begley (For All Mankind) that will be released on demand and in theaters in around 10 markets on July 14.
Written and directed by Brazil’s Marcelo Galvão, Fourth Grade takes place at a prestigious, private, Catholic elementary school, where a principal and a drama teacher gather the parents of the 4th grade students to discuss an alarming situation: a brick of marijuana found in the theater class. To protect the school’s reputation, they need to expel the kid responsible for the weed.
10 wealthy parents from Pacific Palisades, CA and Eddie (Ben Begley), an outsider whose daughter just won a scholarship, arrive at the meeting. And after an aggressive discussion, the principal and the drama teacher leave the room.

Director: Andy Palmer. Writers: Ben Begley and Renee Dorian. Cast: Robert Englund, Jere Burns, Scottie Thompson, Matt Angel and Chasty Ballesteros. The Funhouse Massacre is an indie horror feature from director Andy Palmer (Badlands of Kain). Written by Ben Begley and Renee Dorian, this title blends a lot of blood with some comedy, on Halloween night. Serial killers haunt an amusement park. And, a family reunion, created in Hell, offers a decent climax. Meanwhile, a theme involving impersonation is appropriate for the film's Halloween setting, while The Funhouse Massacre manages to create an entertaining horror world. In the story, actor Robert Englund appears as a blood-thirsty warden. He allows a journalist to tour his psychiatric hospital. The hospital pens several serial killers in its walls. While the journalist and warden become better acquainted, six murderers escape their confines. The taxidermist (Clint Howard), the cannibal (E. E. Bell), the dentist charmer, a killing...

The Funhouse Massacre presents itself as just another indiscriminate indie-horror flick, but as someone who’s been fooled by many similarly crafted duds, I can assure you that this roadside slaughterhouse is a much more enjoyable beast. Writer Ben Begley, who also plays a bumbling deputy, is not only able to craft a horror flick that’s loads of hellish fun, but this colorful massacre remain consistently funny throughout – not an easy task for scary comedies these days. While Begley’s tongue-in-cheek antics become a bit overplayed in a few instances, it fares far better than most jovial copycats of the same ilk, and holds its own against modern gore-chucklers with much bigger budgets. In the vein of a much more over-the-top The Houses October Built, The Funhouse Massacre is one of 2015’s hidden horror gems despite a smaller-format rollout, loaded with guts and bursting with psycho-carnie ferocity.

This week, I was lucky enough to be asked to be a guest on the show. I was called in as a "geek expert," since there were a number of nerdy moments to discuss. I recently chatted with "Man Up!" writer and star Christopher Moynihan who talked about their "Star Wars" episode and what it means to guys. We also talked about the "Modern Family" geek out moment when Alex Dunphy (Ariel Winter) takes down her hair and mesmerizes the nerdy guys in school.

The apocalyptic end of the world drama is such a played out subgenre that there’s nothing left to do but make fun of it. And if you’re Woody Tondorf making fun of things is what you do best. This is after all the same guy that created one of YouTube’s most popular scripted comedy web series Elevator, that racked up over 20 million views in its 3-year run. Tondorf's latest comedy is aiming to do just that. Apocalypse Wow released their first trailer later yesterday evening, after screening it down at Comic-Con in San Diego last month. As of now the project is just a pilot episode and trailer, produced on what Tondorf says is “a tiny spec budget” in hopes of luring in investors or one of the online studios or networks to pick up the series. Tondorf teamed up with Blue Movies creator Scott Brown, who directed the promo episodes,...
