The Texas veterinarian who boasted on social media after killing a cat with an arrow plans to appeal a medical board’s decision to suspend her medical license, her lawyer says.
Kristen Lindsey, a Brenham-based veterinarian, came under fire last April after she posted a Facebook photo of herself holding a dead cat with an arrow through its head, calling it her “first bow kill.” Although she was never charged for the killing, the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners recently said it would suspend the woman from practicing medicine for a year and order her under four years of...

After posting a graphic photo on her Facebook page in April 2015 that proudly showed off a dead cat impaled in the head by an arrow, Kristen Lindsey learned Tuesday that she had been suspended from practicing medicine for a year and will face four years of professional probation.
Lindsey, a Texas veterinarian, boasted about killing the cat on social media, writing “My first bow kill lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through its head! Vet of the year award… gladly accepted.”

There is no historical evidence that vampires had any involvement with the Confederate army at the Battle of Gettysburg. Or, in fact, any other aspect of Abraham Lincoln’s life. Nor is it likely that Lincoln wielded his rail splittin’ axe-shotgun combo in ninja-like fashion to kill said vampires. And Lincoln certainly did not race along the roof of a Gettysburg-bound train careening downwards off a burning bridge collapsing a thousand feet into a chasm in the middle of the night. The flagrant lack of historical accuracy in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter should be obvious from the title alone.

One of the biggest question marks of the summer movie season has been "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," Timur Bekmambetov's $70 million R-rated historical mash-up that sees the sixteenth President of the United States fighting undead creatures and the evils of slavery, all at the same time (in 3D, no less). Based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, who also wrote the screenplay (with uncredited help from Simon Kinberg), and produced by top ghoul Tim Burton, the trailers and television spots didn't completely convey whether or not it was supposed to be funny or scary, serious or silly. It turns out that (brilliantly) -- it's both. Somehow the movie manages to be fun and tongue-in-cheek without ever seeming disrespectful. It's a winning combination of history and horror where Honest Abe is able to kick serious ass.

Benjamin Walker was not a name I was familiar with until he grabbed the title role in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. A quick web search turned up that not only has a previously played a president, (Andrew Jackson on Stage) but he also has had roles in several films I very much enjoy including Flags of our Fathers and Kinsey. Sitting next to him during this interview is someone whose career I have a lot of respect for. Anthony Mackie is that guy that always makes a film better. I get excited when he’s cast in something. He’s so freaking talented and I always look at his career as something I’d like if I was an actor.

Like many of you, or at least most of the people I’ve talked to about this subject, I was unfamiliar with Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel and rolled my eyes when I heard a movie was coming out called Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
I can’t say my fears washed away immediately when I heard Tim Burton was partially responsible however he has given audiences some really dark winners in the past, Timur Bekmambetov’s participation as director added some flavor that had me thinking that the film could actually be, at the very least, entertaining. For me however, this seemed like a big roll of the dice. I mean it’s the Civil War and Abe Lincoln is an axe wielding vampire hunter. Wait, why was unsure about this again. That sounds awesome!

After releasing a preview clip last week, Twentieth Century Fox is offering two new scenes from its Honest Abe–vampire mashup. Based on author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith's book of the same name, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter blends historical facts from Lincoln's (Benjamin Walker) life and career with details of the former President's secret attempts to rid the United States of the bloodsuckers plaguing the country.
The previous clip showed Lincoln and William Johnson (Anthony Mackie) taking a train trip to Gettysburg that had both men fighting vampires en route. While one of these new clips is also devoted to showing Lincoln fight vampires, the first looks at Lincoln's early tutelage under his fanged mentor Henry Sturges (Dominic Cooper), who helps Lincoln perfect his ax-wielding skills.

Throughout its promotional campaign, both the historical and genre sides of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter have been played up. The trailer released Memorial Day weekend had Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) reading the Gettysburg address over footage from the movie, while the red band trailer featured a series of short clips of Honest Abe slaying vampires.
The movie's new preview clip combines both elements. We see Lincoln and friend William Johnson (Anthony Mackie) take a train trip to Gettysburg that requires both men to chop up as many vampires as they can.

I can't wait for this movie! I enjoyed reading the book by Seth Grahame-Smith, and I enjoyed "Wanted" by Timur Bekmambetov who is also directing "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter."
And just watching the trailer brings back memories of the book, so that's a really good sign! For me at least! Produced by Tim Burton, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" tells the tale of our beloved President, and how his problems with the Civil War mirror the drama surrounding the increasing number of dangerous vampires!
Benjamin Walker plays Lincoln, Dominic Cooper is Henry Sturgess, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is Mary Todd Lincoln, Rufus Sewell is Adam, and Anthony Mackie is William Johnson. The script is co-written by Grahame-Smith (another good sign) and Simon Kinberg (2009's "Sherlock Holmes" and the upcoming "This Means War").
Twentieth Century Fox is releasing "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" in 3D on June 22nd. I can't wait but I can skip the 3D part!

"History prefers legends to men...soaring speeches to quiet deeds..." So begins the opening voiceover for the new "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" trailer, which intercuts footage of Lincoln delivering his famous Gettysburg Address with visually-stunning scenes of vampire action. Still notably absent are any glimpses of Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln or Anthony Mackie as Lincoln's personal valet William Johnson - a little odd given that they both play major roles in the film, but okay. As with the first trailer, the Fox marketing team plays the inherently silly concept entirely straight, with no ironic "wink-wink" moments that let audiences...

After releasing an endless stream of new photos, Twentieth Century Fox has finally released the teaser trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Based on the novel by author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter follows the 16th President of the United States from the age of 19 until his death — only with Honest Abe having to deal with a vampire threat.
Most of the recent photos were taken from a scene where Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) heads to Louisiana to rescue his friend William Johnson (Anthony Mackie) from a cabal of Southern vampires, a scene which borrows from Lincoln's legitimate history but with a vampire twist. It explains why Mackie had previously described the movie as "a recontextualization of history". The newly-released trailer is more befitting of producer Simon Kinberg's description of Lincoln "hacking people's heads off and killing vampires left and right."

It seems to be photo week for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Days ago, several new photos were revealed for the adaptation of author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith's novel, which follows the career of the late 16th President from the the age of 19 until his death — with the small addition of vampires thrown into his history.
The recent photos were mostly taken from a scene where Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) heads to Louisiana to rescue his friend William Johnson (Anthony Mackie) and take on a cabal of Southern vampires, only to be put into a compromising position by vampire antagonist Adam (Rufus Sewell) and Vadoma (played by supermodel Erin Wasson). The latest photos show more of the scene, including what looks like a sneak attack on Honest Abe, and a look at Lincoln's fighting technique, which Walker described to USA Today as "very violent but graceful."

We usually don't get too excited for movies about historical Us presidents, but we have a feeling that Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is not going to be your typical biopic. Mainly because it has Vampire Hunter in the title.
Up until now, all we have seen from the fictional retelling of our 16th president is two movie posters showing Abe with his iconic top hat and an ax, presumably his choice of weapon for killing creatures of the undead.
But now we have the first video look at the movie's set, from MTV News. While it doesn't show any actual footage of the movie, it does include interviews with Benjamin Walker, who plays Lincoln, and Anthony Mackie, who plays William Johnson, Lincoln's childhood friend. Mackie compares the relationship between Johnson and Lincoln to 48 Hours' Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy.

Forest Whitaker is about to go crazy.
The "Last King of Scotland" Oscar-winner is set to star with Anthony Mackie in "Vipaka," Variety reports. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is about a disturbed man, to be played by Whitaker, who seeks out therapy from a life coach, to be played by Mackie. Things turn left when Whitaker's character takes Mackie's hostage and uses him as a tool of terror and torture.
Whitaker is coming off a one season run on "Criminal Minds" on CBS; the network canceled the show following this past season. He'll soon appear in NYPD drama "Freelancers," alongside Robert DeNiro and Dana Delany, and "Catch .44," alongside Bruce Willis and Malin Ackerman. He's also in the midst of shooting "A Single Shot," with Juno Temple, Emily Mortimer and William H. Macy.

Anyone could be forgiven for thinking that MGM Home Entertainment doesn't have much faith in the ability of Stargate Atlantis to succeed on the digital disc market. When the show first hit DVD it was as a single disc release of the feature-length pilot 'Rising'. If that release was meant to test the market, it presumably sold well enough because the entire series is now available.
Not surprisingly, some purchasers of 'Rising' grumbled that MGM was double-dipping. Similar complaints are now being voiced about the debut of Stargate Atlantis on Bd. Rather than just releasing one or more of the series' five seasons in the hi-def format (as the distributors of Supernatural, Smallville and Battlestar Galactica, among other shows, have done), MGM has opted for a limited compilation, again leaving Atlantis' fans wondering whether they should shell out money on something that will probably be re-released in a different form later.
