More than 400 prominent female writers and showrunners sent a letter today to the heads of the major studios expressing their “grave concerns” about the companies’ “lack of specific production protocols” to protect their workers in anti-abortion states.
The letters, which state that “it is unacceptable to ask any person to choose between their human rights and their employment,” also demanded that the companies “pledge to discontinue all political donations to anti-abortion candidates and political action committees immediately.”
Deadline has obtained a copy of the letter to Netflix, which organizers say was sent to top executives at Amazon Studios, AMC Networks, Apple, Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, Netflix, Paramount Global, , and Warner Bros. Discovery.
The letters, whose signers include Ava DuVernay, Shonda Rhimes, Amy Schumer, Marta Kauffman, Callie Khouri, WGA West vice president Michele Mulroney and WGA West secretary-treasurer Betsy Thomas, said that “this situation raises basic matters of equality, health, and safety in the workplace.

“For All Mankind,” Apple TV+’s popular alternative-history space drama series, was renewed Friday for a fourth season, it was revealed at Comic-Con. The news comes a little over a month after Season 3’s premiere.
“Since 1969, #ForAllMankind has journeyed from Earth to the Moon to Mars. The adventure will continue on Apple TV+,” the streamer’s Twitter account wrote.
In one giant leap for the series, “For All Mankind” has also toppled its streaming counterpart “Ted Lasso” as Apple TV+’s most in-demand show. Co-created by “Outlander’s” Ronald D. Moore as well as Ben Nedivi and Matt Wolpert, “For All Mankind” imagines a world where the global space race never ended, and the Soviets had placed the first human on the moon instead. Season 3 raced ahead in time to the early ’90s, with NASA, the Ussr and an unexpected new player within the private sector setting their sights on sending astronauts to Mars.

Many space-obsessed Americans have enjoyed the recent resurgence in space travel, with private companies filling the void left by America’s space program. But for viewers of “For All Mankind,” it’s as if those programs never went away.
The Apple TV+ drama is one of the most ambitious shows on the streaming service, telling an alternative history of a Space Race that never ends. In the world of the show, the Ussr beat the United States in the race to land a man on the moon, but the two countries continue to compete with each other in their quests to explore outer space. And in Season 3, which dropped its first trailer today, the stakes are higher than ever: landing on Mars.

“For all Mankind” returns for its third season of 10 episodes on Apple TV+ on June 10, which sees NASA scrambling to get its astronauts to Mars before the Russians and the West Germans in the trailer shared by Apple TV+ on Monday.
The previous two seasons took us from 1969’s historic moon landing to the late ’80s. The drama is now set in the early ’90s, with a TV news desk using a background of the still-standing World Trade Center towers to anchor us firmly in the past.
In the trailer — set to Soundgarden’s 1994 grunge hit “Black Hole Sun” — Joel Kinnaman’s character Edward Baldwin is concerned about the survival of his crew and there are doubts whether they can be supplied with adequate water.
We also meet new character Dev Ayesa ( Edi Gathegi), an advocate for private citizens in space, just a few decades before the 21st century billionaire space race.

“For All Mankind” will return for its third season on June 10, Apple TV Plus announced Monday.
Created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, the critically-acclaimed science fiction drama imagines an alternate history where Russia beat the United States in putting a man on the moon first. As a result of this historical divergence, the space race between the two countries never ends, leading to a world where both nations have advanced moon colonies staffed 24/7 and the Cold War has led to much quicker technological advances. The series focuses on the exploits of the astronauts and staff of NASA in this alternate universe, delving into both their professional and personal lives.
The first two seasons of “For All Mankind” covered a span of almost two decades, starting in 1969 and ending in the late ’80s. Season 3 again jumps ahead into the early ’90s, as the space race expands to the exploration of Mars.

The Walking Dead, Season 4, Episode 15: “Us”
Directed by Greg Nicotero
Written by Nichole Beattie & Seth Hoffman

Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?
Last week, I made it pretty clear how much I disliked “The Grove,” calling it the worst episode in the series so far. “Us” doesn’t do much to change the fact that after four seasons of watching and reviewing The Walking Dead, I’ve decided I am breaking up with the show. In the past, I asked for slower and more character-focused episodes. Character is action I say, and while The Walking Dead has taken this approach these last few weeks, it’s also been more often than not, incredibly boring. Splitting everyone into small groups and dispersing them was a wise decision on the part of the writers. The majority of instalments worked extremely well,...

Original Airdate: 23 March 2014
In This Episode…
When Len swoops in and “claims” a bunny that he and Daryl shot at about the same time, Daryl learns a lesson about Joe’s rules: all you have to say is “claim” to lay claim to anything: food, bed, weapon, whatever; you steal, you get killed; and no lying. Len wants to “teach Daryl a lesson” but Joe gives him a pass because he didn’t know the rules. He splits the bunny in half. The group finds a garage to camp in. It is filled with cars. All have been drained of gas, but provide a comfy place to sleep. Daryl won’t call “claim,” so he surrenders to a corner of concrete. Daryl dozes, and wakes to find Len hassling him, claiming that Daryl stole his half of the rabbit.

The penultimate episode in The Walking Dead's fourth season reaches an uneasy conclusion. Here's Ron's review...
This review contains spoilers.
4.15 Us
The tracks to Terminus stretch onward, but it seems that the more our groups walk, the closer they get to one another. Carol sees the fire from Daryl and Beth's moonshine arson party. Glenn follows Maggie's clues. Michonne drops a candy bar wrapper and Daryl walks right over it. All roads, or all tracks in this case, lead to Rome and the promise of safety and sanctuary within Terminus. Those who arrive survive, the signs promise, but is that the case? Is Terminus too good to be true?
We get our first glimpse of that promised land this week in an episode that takes great pains to showcase every character, save Beth, for a few moments at a time. Rick and Carl and Michonne get a glimpse,...

Director: Greg Nicotero. Writers: Robert Kirkman and Nichole Beattie. Cast: Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs and Danai Gurira. Well, viewers have almost made it to the end of another season of "The Walking Dead." Epis. 15, titled "Us," is the second to last episode of the season and it mostly floundered for this viewer. Perhaps, one watcher might be becoming too jaded by the long journey to Terminus (even though there are ribs there). In this episode, three groups of survivors continued to head to the end of the tracks. Daryl (Norman Reedus) has found himself in bad company, while Glenn (Steven Yeun) finally reunites with Maggie (Lauren Cohan). Eugene (Josh McDermitt), the redneck scientist, promises salvation but this might be a very big white lie. "Us" was another character focused story, in which plot and action were relegated to the sidelines. There were two major...

Last summer, it was revealed that David S. Goyer would be directing the fifteenth episode The Walking Dead Season 4, but the official credits that were recently released listed Greg Nicotero as the director. We’ve seen some conflicting reports, so we wanted to provide The Walking Dead fans with official word from AMC.
This started with a quote from David S. Goyer from a DC Entertainment party last July via i09:
“I’m doing a Walking Dead this year — the penultimate episode [of the season]. I haven’t gotten my script yet… I heard it’s an episode where something really bad happens.”
The writer and director is known for his work on Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies, the Blade movies, and he wrote the screenplay for Man of Steel. With DC pushing forward on Batman/Superman and Justice League movies, we weren’t sure he had the time available and that...

As the survivors continue their trek toward Terminus, there are plenty of obstacles, distractions, and new survivors encountered along the way. With only two episodes left in Season 4, Episode 415 shifts back to another set of characters, including Glenn and his new friends. Get a better idea of what to expect by checking out the first photos and preview videos:
“Following the devastating events of the mid-season finale, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the group are still reeling from the loss of their home, family and friends. With the destruction of the prison, the group of survivors is broken apart and sent on divergent paths, unsure of everyone else’s fate. What was a challenging life behind fences and walls grows that much more perilous and precious as they are exposed to new dangers, new enemies and heartbreaking choices. They will have their faith thoroughly tested — a faith that breaks some of them and redeems others.

During this season of The Walking Dead, we’ve been highlighting many of the show’s young actors and actresses, and our exclusive Q&A series continues with Meyrick Murphy, who plays Meghan Chambler. Continue reading to learn what she had to say about joining The Walking Dead, working with David Morrissey, and hanging out with zombies:
Thank you for taking the time to talk with us today. Can you tell us how you became involved with The Walking Dead? Was there an audition? Can you tell us about your experience?
Meyrick Murphy: Aww, thank you! One day my agent sent a script along with a ton of Nda’s (nondisclosure agreements) and told me I was taping an audition for The Walking Dead. I did the audition and a few weeks went by. I didn’t think anything really came of it but then I got a callback!

The Walking Dead, Season 4, Episode 11: “Claimed”
Directed by Seith Mann
Written by Nichole Beattie & Seth Hoffman
Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on AMC
The Walking Dead’s midseason finale saw the various characters scattered in the wake of the prison assault, with the two episodes since the return picking up on the immediate aftermath. With Rick and Glenn both physically depleted by the prison assault and the events leading up to it, their situations seemed the most precarious. This week’s episode focuses on the two characters, as well as those surrounding them, in a solid episode that nonetheless highlights a major flaw with the series as a whole.
The character of Eugene, and the purpose he brings, is an interesting development for the show. The group’s venture to the Cdc in the show’s first season effectively destroyed any possibility of the zombies being cured,...

The Walking Dead Episode 411
“Claimed”
Written By: Nichole Beattie and Seth Hoffman
Directed By: Seith Mann
Original Airdate: 23 February 2014
In This Episode…
Michonne and Carl are bonding in a way they never did at the prison. She finally seems willing to let her guard down, and he is glad to have someone other than his father to talk to. They even laugh over soy milk at breakfast - until Carl mentions he’d rather drink Judith’s formula. Then he gets sad and clams up. (I forget that they don’t know that Judith is alive.) The two go on a supply run while Rick stays behind to rest. It is on the run that Michonne opens up about her pre-zombie life. Her son was named Andre Anthony, he was three years old, and Michonne didn’t lose him until after “this” happened. Carl seems to be relaxing a bit,...

The Walking Dead introduces some new faces in this week's tense episode. Here's Ron's review...
This review contains spoilers.
4.11 Claimed
There's a pattern to the behaviour that Rick Grimes has established. Once he gets to a nice, relatively safe location, he doesn't like to stray too far from that locale. He'll go on supply runs and stuff, but Rick is apparently the homebody in The Walking Dead's universe, which explains why he's decided to hang around at their borrowed house for another day or two, to get his strength back and make a plan on what to do next. It's a good idea in theory, especially since Carl and Michonne can go find food while Rick curls up with a good book, but it's a bad idea in the television world, because there's no such thing as a safe place.

The following review will contain some spoilers from last week’s episode.
So, last week was a strong and emotional episode, with most of the action taking place in the prison as Hershel and Glenn made the rounds attending to those suffering from the spreading infection. It was also an episode that saw Carl and Rick fight off the hordes as they tore away the chain-link that surrounded the grounds. Rick watched as his son opened fire on the walkers, with a look of surprise in his eyes. The episode came to a close with Glenn being saved by Hershel after Daryl and company returned with medicine to help the sick and the viewers being shown the side of the face of last season’s main villain,...

Director: Michael Uppendahl. Writers: Robert Kirkman and Nichole Beattie. Cast: David Morrissey, Audrey Marie Anderson, Travis Love, Alanna Masterson and Meyrick Murphy. Everyone's favourite villain is back on "The Walking Dead!" the Governor (David Morrissey) aka Brian Harriet is looking a little grizzled since Seas. 3. In Epis. 6 of Seas. 4, The Governor is looking more like a homeless man than a looming threat. However, this episode, titled "Live Bait," showed that the Governor is more than just a killer. He is also making new friends and reuniting with old ones. What is the Governor up to and what does he have in store for Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the survivors at the prison? Some of these questions have been touched upon in previous episodes and reviews; in this episode, the Governor is simply getting back on his feet. The episode began with the Governor leaving behind the victims of Woodbury. Martinez...

The Walking Dead, Season 4, Episode 6: “Live Bait”
Directed by Michael Uppendahl
Written by Nichole Beattie
Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on AMC
Anyone who listens to our Walking Dead podcast has heard me comment on how much I would like to see the writers of the Walking Dead take bigger risks. Just last week I mentioned how I’d love to see an entire episode that doesn’t feature Rick and the gang. I also stated how much I’d like to see more flashbacks featured on the show. That said, I also made it very clear, that I wasn’t necessarily happy with the sudden return of The Governor in the final moments of last week’s fifth instalment, “Internment“. The sixth episode of season four titled “Live Bait,” gives me everything I asked for, but there is one problem: it revolves entirely around the one-eyed villain from season three,...

Given the immense popularity of "The Walking Dead," a spin-off series was only a matter of time. IGN caught up with creator Robert Kirkman, who shed a bit of light on what to expect once it arrives.
Kirkman - who is shepherding the spin-off along with fellow "The Walking Dead" executive producers Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert - confirmed that the new series will be set in a “different location” and feature “completely different people,” adding, “It definitely won’t be set in Georgia… It’s important to us that this show exists on its own. The spin-off has to be a show worthy of existing, or else we’ve all sold out.”
In Season 4 of "The Walking Dead," we find Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the group fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison. Sadly, in this brutal world happiness is short-lived, and walkers...

While a lot of the focus thus far during this season of "The Walking Dead" has been on the living, we're happy to provide you with an exclusive early look at one of the undead who will be featured in Episode 4.06, "Live Bait."
In Season 4 of "The Walking Dead," we find Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the group fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison. Sadly, in this brutal world happiness is short-lived, and walkers and outside threats are no match for danger brewing inside the fences. The group’s home and new way of life will be thoroughly tested, and their struggle to survive has never been so perilous. Season 4 also introduces several new characters including Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard, Jr., "The Wire").
