Born and raised in the suburbs of San Francisco, Derek Lux is the
youngest of four sons born to Chris and Christina Lux. Derek spent his
early years training in martial arts before realizing his true calling
of acting. After high school he took private voice lessons and acting
classes with his eye set on Broadway. Soon disenchanted with musicals,
he refocused on dramatic acting where he connected with acting teacher
Shelley Mitchell, one of Lee Strasburg's former students.
During this time, Derek worked in voice over, commercials and
independent films. After some initial hesitation of continuing with
musicals, he accepted a part in Beach Blanket Babylon, the nation's
longest running musical revue in history. After a 2 year stint in the
show, he relocated to Los Angeles.
Shortly after arriving in Los Angeles he co-developed the feature
length film Hush Hush, with close friend, writer and director Byron
Gatt. Hush Hush proved to be quite the acting challenge as the entire
film was conceived and shot without any spoken dialogue.
