Another senior Amazon Studios UK executive is exiting for the indie production sector.
Frank Murray, UK and Pan-English Scripted Head of Production, is exiting after two years in post to launch a Transatlantic film and TV production venture with operations in London and New York.
Currently unnamed, the company has “eight-figure equity investment” from New York, according to Murray.
His departure comes days after we revealed Amazon Studios UK and Northern Europe chief Dan Grabiner was exiting. He is launching Orchard Studios with former The Garden Productions exec Nicola Hill.
A source said the exits are unconnected, with the two execs working in different parts of the Amazon Studios UK operation.
At Amazon Studios, Murray was in charge of the global streamer’s UK production output, reporting into Laine Kline in LA. He has worked on Peter Capaldi drama The Devil’s Hour and Wilderness, starring Jenna Coleman.

One of the films on our radar to most definitely see is Akshay Kumar’s PadMan directed by R. Balki. The social issue film, which also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte, will release in India and worldwide on Jan 26th, 2018.
Billed as the most progressive family entertainer yet, Akshay Kumar plays the title role and once again showcases his commitment to social entertainers, in line with his latest super hit, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (Toilet: A Love Story).
PadMan is Inspired by the life of Indian entrepreneur and inventor Arunachalam Muruganantham, who invented the low cost sanitary pad-making machine and revolutionized the movement of cost effective female hygiene in India.
Akshay recently tweeted pictures with his co-stars

Update: The Weinstein Company indeed closed this deal, and here are the details. I'm told the minimum guarantee was $7.5 million, with a P&A commitment upwards of $10 million. That makes The Details the largest minimum guarantee of the festival so far, though TWC's deal for My Idiot Brother (between $6 million-$7 million m.g.) had a larger P&A commitment, around $15 million. Summit's bid for domestic rights was between $4 million and $5 million. TWC's acquisition team of Peter Lawson, Laine Kline and David Glasser made the deal with CAA and UTA, which co-repped the picture. Earlier Exclusive, 6:48 Pm: A marathon bargaining session is near a close, and it appears The Weinstein Company will acquire worldwide distribution rights to The Details, the Jacob Aaron Estes-directed dark comedy that stars Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks, Laura Linney, Ray Liotta, Dennis Haysbert and Kerry Washington. Toronto: The Weinstein Company has acquired Ben Stiller's Red Hour Films-produced Submarine after an all-night bargaining session with Wme. The deal is around $1 million minimum guarantee with a P&A commitment. There were three other bidders. The picture will be released in 2011. Directed by Richard Ayoade in his feature debut, Submarine is an adaptation of the Joe Dunthorne coming of age novel following a 15-year old boy through the impending breakup of his parents' marriage and his own first relationship. The film premiered Sunday at the Winter Garden, but bidding really heated up last night. Its deal was finally closed after a marathon session between TWC's Harvey Weinstein, David Glasser and Laine Kline, along with Wme's Graham Taylor and Mark Ankner and Protagonist's Ben Roberts.
