"No amount of money ever bought a second of time." Those are the words uttered by Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark in "Avengers: Endgame" during a pivotal scene after he traveled back in time to save the world, only to run into his own father. It's true, money can't buy time. But in 2019, audiences shelled out money in record-breaking amounts to spend lots of time in movie theaters all around the world to see the conclusion to the Marvel Cinematic Universe up to that point. Money, in this case, bought something like 10,800 seconds of shared experience the likes of which hasn't been seen before or since.

For a lot of MCU fans, and Black Widow fans in particular, one of the most baffling choices the movies have made so far came in "Avengers: Endgame," when Black Widow/Natasha (Scarlett Johannsen) and Hawkeye/Clint (Jeremy Renner) tried to throw themselves off a cliff before the other could do it first. The cliff-jumping part made sense — one of them needed to die to save the world, and it was in character for both of them to sacrifice themself so the other could live. The questionable part was when Natasha successfully stopped Clint and flung herself to her death. It was a sad yet heroic end for her character, sure, but on a meta-level, wouldn't it make more sense for the movie to kill Clint?
No disrespect to Clint of course, but he was the less interesting of the two Avengers. He served his role well and had a heartwarming friendship with Natasha,...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the great franchise experiment of modern times. It is an expanding universe telling different stories in a large movie continuity, converging in crossover events like the comic books that inspire them, with dozens of characters across dozens of movies.
Before the MCU became the creatively bankrupt and commercially unviable husk it is today, it dominated the pop culture conversation. Today, it is easy to forget that a decade ago it was unthinkable for a movie about a talking raccoon and a giant tree to be a huge commercial hit, but somehow we got a whole trilogy starring them.
That success climaxed in "Avengers: Infinity War," an unprecedented cinematic crossover that brought dozens of heroes together in a single movie, and then (briefly) killed half of them. Though these deaths were meant to be arbitrary, a throw of the cosmic dice, there was a bit of...

There are certain television shows that people within the entertainment industry all watch and admire, and one of those shows was Better Call Saul, the celebrated prequel-sequel to the almighty Breaking Bad. The number of influential filmmakers who watched Saul is at least a mile long (Steven Soderbergh, Guillermo del Toro, Darren Aronofsky to name a few), and the brass at Marvel Studios are all included in that group. So it was hardly a surprise when Marvel sought out Saul writer-producer Marion Dayre to lead the writers’ room of Echo, a mature miniseries that’s centered on Maya Lopez/Echo (Alaqua Cox), who was first introduced as Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) deaf enforcer on Hawkeye (2021).
Under the tutelage of Saul co-creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, Dayre became a two-time WGA Award-nominated TV writer. She first co-wrote season two’s “Klick,” which put Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) on...

It's easy to forget, in our superhero-fatigued world of 2023, just how much of a stranglehold "Avengers: Infinity War" had on pop culture back in 2018. Although most of us understood that the effects of Thanos' snap would eventually be undone, that didn't stop the movie's ending from feeling like a genuinely devastating blow. Fans were crying in theaters, and other fans (allegedly) were so stressed out they had to be taken out of the theater by paramedics.
Fans impatiently waited a year for "Avengers: Endgame" to give them a satisfying conclusion, but for the writers there was one big problem: How would our heroes defeat Thanos without it feeling repetitive, or like a copout? "Infinity War" was basically just the Avengers trying and failing to stop Thanos' quest for the infinity stones for two and a half hours straight, so was "Endgame" going to be just another two and a half...

Marvel dared to do TV differently. Now, it will have to redo “Daredevil: Born Again” from the ground up.
Head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman were removed from “Daredevil: Born Again” in late September, IndieWire confirmed, as were all of the directors previously booked to shoot the remainder of Season 1. About half of the 18-episode season is in the can, with some episodes fully shot. Ord and Corman will maintain executive producer credits; THR first reported the news of their dismissal.
Daredevil is the superhero alter ego of blind lawyer Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox); Ord and Corman envisioned the series as a legal procedural. Cox returns to the role he played on Netflix from 2015 to 2018 (the series has been on Disney+ since March 2022), but he didn’t even don the costume until the new show’s fourth episode. Now that’s dedication to a reimagining.

To celebrate International Women's Day, Marvel and Disney+ released a new four-part mini-series called "MPower," which highlights the stories, creation, and impact of some of the most empowering figures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The episodes are centered around the women of Wakanda, Captain Marvel and the women she inspires (Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan), Scarlet Witch and the other women of "WandaVision," and the women of Guardians of the Galaxy. The series utilizes scenes from the films and related Disney+ series, archival footage, interviews with the stars and creative team members that helped bring the characters to life, and stunning original animation. The series is not just a celebration of the characters and how they've brought success to the MCU, but also a deeply intimate look at how the actors who play these characters connect with their stories.

The knee-slapping quips and archery antics of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in the MCU’s “Hawkeye” series have been submitted for Emmy attention in the comedy categories, instead of the presumed limited series field. With the switch in categories, all signs indicate that a potential second season of the Hawkeye superhero saga is in the future for Disney+, though no official announcement has been made.
In addition to seeking love for outstanding comedy series, stars Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld will angle for lead actor and lead actress consideration. In the supporting categories, Disney has submitted Vincent D’Onofrio, Fra Free, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, Florence Pugh and Vera Farmiga.

Michael Crow is no stranger to superhero costumes. He was the assistant costume designer on a handful of Marvel films, including “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018) and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), and was the costume designer on “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,” for which he had to craft a new Captain America suit for Sam (Anthony Mackie). And he took the same design approach when he joined “Hawkeye.” “We try to stay as true to the comics as possible because I think that’s sort of what everybody wants. We want to see what’s on the page come to life as closely as possible,” Crow tells Gold Derby (watch above). “As far as my own creative input, that comes in like styling it for the particular actor and proportions. It’s the challenge of making superhero costumes come to life.”

It’s not every day that you make your entrance into the Marvel Universe and are also guaranteed a solo project within that universe, but such is the case for Hawkeye‘s Alaqua Cox whose character Maya Lopez was fully introduced in the show’s third episode. The character who also goes by Echo is both Native American and deaf, two things that executive producers Trinh Tran and Kevin Feige were adamant about representing onscreen. As a deaf, Native American actress, Cox checked both those boxes but also brings her own unique spin to the comic character. (Credit: Disney+/©Marvel Studios) “Marvel, Kevin Fiege, and Trinh Tran felt so strongly about finding an actor like Alaqua who is deaf, and going on that journey with her and supporting her,” series director Bert, of the duo Bert & Bertie, tells TV Insider. “They supported her every step of the way and obviously...

Marvel’s holiday gift to fans – the new Disney+ series Hawkeye – sure has a lot of bows! Former Avenger Hawkeye, aka Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), gets his own six-episode series as he passes on his legacy to the next daring archer: Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), a young fighter who trained to be like her idol. The series is set at Christmastime in New York after 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, where half the world’s population — including Clint’s wife and kids — reappeared after vanishing five years earlier. “So all he wants to do is be with his family,” explains executive producer Trinh Tran. But while the Bartons were gone, Clint functioned as his brooding, murderous alter ego Ronin…and made a lot of enemies along the way. “The past is going to come back to haunt him,” she teases. After what she calls “an unexpected circumstance” brings together Clint and Kate...

Now she has her sights focused on the small screen as the executive producer of "Hawkeye," where she wants to show fans a different side of the Avenger with the bow and arrow. With each of its Disney+ series — just like with many of its movies — Marvel Studios has attempted to accentuate a different genre or tone depending on the story, the themes and the characters, not to mention each show’s place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. WandaVision and Loki go for a surreal, cosmic, universe-bending vibe, while The Falcon and the Winter Soldier operates on the level of a geopolitical thriller. So where does that leave the latest Marvel limited series, Hawkeye?
“Every time we start developing a project, we are always talking about how we set it apart from everything else that we’ve done,” says Hawkeye executive producer Trinh Tran in an interview with Den of Geek about the six-episode series.
“With Falcon and Winter Soldier, with WandaVision and Loki, they’re all different,” she continues. “In terms of Hawkeye, how can we set that apart from everything else?...

When you look at the original Marvel Cinematic Universe roster of the Avengers, five of the six team members have had solo films — or in the case of Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, multiple standalone efforts, while Black Widow and the Hulk have had one apiece. The only one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to not get his own big-screen adventure? Hawkeye.
Super-archer Clint Barton — played in five MCU films by Jeremy Renner — was originally slated to get his own spotlight movie. But somehow over the course of several years, the idea morphed into a TV show, focusing on the relationship between Barton and the newly introduced Kate Bishop, a young woman who eventually takes up the Hawkeye mantle.

Let's face it: Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye has never been the most impressive Avenger. When you stack him up against the other founding Avengers: Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Hulk, and Black Widow — all of whom have had their own solo movies — Hawkeye comes out looking like the least mighty of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. He's basically just a guy in a sleeveless shirt with a bow and arrow.

Hailee Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner brought some holiday cheer to Hollywood Blvd. on Wednesday night for the launch of their new Disney plus series “Hawkeye.”

“Avengers: Endgame” was widely celebrated by moviegoers across the world, but one moment during the movie’s climax got routinely called out for pandering to fans. That moment is when the majority of the franchise’s female superheroes band together for a “girl power” moment during the final battle against Thanos. It turns out Marvel executives had concerns with the scene being too pandering following “Endgame” test screenings. Such news is revealed by executive producer Trinh Tran in the new MCU behind-the-scenes book, “The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
As Tran remembers, it was a viral Twitter photo of Marvel stars such as Zoe Saldana, Scarlett Johansson, Brie Larson, Tessa Thompson and more that “spurred collective talk” at Marvel of bringing the MCU’s female superheroes together. So much better than socks! Marvel’s latest Disney+ series, Hawkeye, is just the present we were hoping to find in our TV stockings. In the holiday tale set in snowy New York City, Clint Barton, aka the Avengers’ retired heroic archer Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), gives a truly great gift, passing the bow and arrow on to a new generation. The recipient: Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), a young warrior who worships the Avenger and spent years training herself to be like him. “From a young age, Kate’s North Star was her love for her idol, Hawkeye,” executive producer Trinh Tran says. “To her, Clint is a hero and a mere human doing superhuman things, but above everything else, he always stands up for the little guy and protects those in need. Kate followed her idol’s footsteps and put herself through intense training, studying various sports, including archery and martial arts.

In the trailer, Clint Barton, a.k.a., Hawkeye, passes down the bow and arrow to fellow Marvel Comics character Kate Bishop, played by Steinfeld. Set during the Christmas season, Clint investigates someone posing as his deadly Ronin persona from “Avengers: Endgame,” only to discover it’s Kate, a fellow archer and fan. The two team up to take down criminals as Hawkeye promises his family he’ll be back home for Christmas.
“Hawkeye” is the fourth and latest live-action Marvel Studios show on Disney’s streaming service. “WandaVision,” starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, was the first to premiere, followed by “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. The third was “Loki,” starring Tom Hiddleston and Sophia Di Martino.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has successfully made the jump to television with Emmy winner “WandaVision” and buzzy hits “Loki” and “The Falcon and the Winter Solider.” Next up for the ever-enduring franchise — on TV — is “Hawkeye,” which finds Jeremy Renner reprising his Avengers character opposite MCU newcomer Hailee Steinfeld. Also involved is Florence Pugh, who made her MCU debut as the highly trained spy and assassin Yelena Belova earlier this year in “Black Widow.” The supporting cast also includes Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy, and James Alaqua Cox.
The official synopsis for “Hawkeye” from Disney+ reads: “Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: Get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past...

Much like a different Disney-controlled IP said to kick off its own PR blitz: “Nobody is ever really gone.” This mantra may be true of a certain bald-headed balancer of the universe as well though, circa Avengers: Endgame. Yep, Thanos may be gone, but not forgotten. In fact, his eventual return, already possibly confirmed, is being teased even further by some Marvel producers now. He is inevitable, after all.
Producers Trinh Tran and Louis D’Esposito both made quoted appearances in The Art of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame the, uh, art book that accompanied the Marvel finale’s home release. We’ve already learned a lot from it, including alternate directions that the filmmakers were considering throughout production but at one point, D’Esposito talks more about the Mad Titan and the possibility of his return, saying that “when someone dies, you cannot bring them back. It’s not like when Thanos snapped his fingers.

To say that Avengers: Endgame is a giant, multi-faceted film would be to deal in wild understatement.
It’s a three-hour juggernaut packed to the rafters with A-list stars, McU callbacks, and time travel, so it’s small wonder why moviegoers watched the 2019 event pic over, and over, and over again. Part of that comes down to the simple fact that Avengers: Endgame marked the end of an era for Marvel Studios, one which flickered into life all those years ago with Iron Man.
But for long-time comic book fans, Endgame delivered more crowd-pleasing, fist-in-the-air moments than the last 21 McU films combined. From Tony Stark’s final sacrifice to Captain America wielding Mjnolir, there was no shortage of epic scenes in 2019’s biggest movie. For Kevin Feige, though, there is one moment which stands head and shoulders above the rest, as Marvel executive producer Trinh Tran told /Film:

Marvel Studios exec Trinh Tran hints at the future of the McU on the big and small screens.

The subscription video-on-demand will offer hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of film and TV content from the vast, combined libraries of Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel, 20th Century Fox, complemented by the Disney-owned services of Hulu and ESPN.
One of the most exciting developments of Disney+ will be the expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the TV space. Out of all the fan-pleasing moments packed into Avengers: Endgame’s three-hour runtime, few got as loud a cheer from audiences across the world as the scene where Captain America finally wields Mjolnir. But once filmgoers had calmed down a little and taken the time to reflect on what they’d seen, many argued that Steve Rogers’ ability to summon lightning with the hammer contradicts what 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok taught us about the God of Thunder’s abilities.
As it turns out, this supposed inconsistency wasn’t lost on co-writer Christopher Markus, who explained in a recent interview with /Film that the moment was considered too good to fret about whether or not it made complete sense:
“There was certainly a debate at one point because particularly in Ragnarok, it establishes that Thor can summon the lightning without the hammer. I think Odin even says, ‘It was never the hammer.

Earlier this year, Marvel Studios was able to accomplish something that was merely teased a decade prior when it released “Avengers: Endgame” and finally brought together all of its franchises into one climactic film that capped off almost two-dozen films. This left fans with a ton of questions, led by the obvious one — what’s next? Well, according to Marvel Studios producer Trinh Tran, ‘Endgame’ wasn’t just the end of Phase 3 and the Infinity Saga, but also ushered in a new era that likely won’t feature a major crossover event for the foreseeable future.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for its massive “Avengers” team-up movies, but the next giant MCU ensemble crossover might not be happening for another decade. Following the box office-dominating success “Avengers: Endgame,” which became the highest-grossing film ever released worldwide earlier this year, Marvel Studios is going back to its roots somewhat by prioritizing a new wave of standalone superhero tentpoles over the next “Endgame”-style epic. Trinh Tran, an executive producer on “Avengers: Endgame” and other Marvel movies, tells CinemaBlend the focus for the McU moving forwarded into Phase Four is on the individual films and not the next “Endgame” epic.
“Our focus right now is to make sure that the titles that we’ve released in Phase Four … obviously those stories are going to be new, exciting, different, and can connect with the audience like the other movies have been,” Tran said. “Over 10 years ago, it had...

It looks like Marvel fans are going to have to wait a while before the studio tries to attempt another Infinity Saga level story. They pulled off something incredible from Iron Man to Spider-Man: Far From Home over the course of ten years. Now as they move into Phase 4, fans have been wondering if this will all tie into another epic story.
Well, according to Marvel producer Trinh Tran, we won’t see another Infinity Level saga story for at least another 10 years. While talking to CinemaBlend, she was asked if there are already plans in motion to deliver another expansive tale like Infinity Saga, or if Marvel Studios is taking a more relaxed approach with the interconnectivity among its movies, she responded:

It took Marvel Studios over a decade to tell the full story of the Infinity Saga, starting with 2008’s Iron Man and climaxing this year with the elaborately plotted Avengers: Endgame, and judging by recent comments from producer Trinh Tran, it could be a similarly long wait before we see another McU project on the scale of the Avengers: Infinity War sequel.
Speaking to CinemaBlend, the Endgame executive producer reflected on Marvel Studios’ journey so far, and suggested that the McU’s next big crossover movie isn’t their top priority at the moment:

We already know that The Eternals will bring us the McU’s first openly gay male lead in the form of Ikaris and with Thor: Love and Thunder set to explore Valkyrie’s sexuality as she looks for her queen, it’s becoming pretty clear that Marvel Studios is making every effort they can to address the lack of Lgbtq representation in their films so far.
In fact, back in November, executive vice president of production Victoria Alonso fully admitted that “the gay community has not been represented whatsoever,” adding, “I’m gay, so I can tell you that I would long for that.” And now, Marvel Studios producer Trinh Tran has weighed in on the situation as well.
Speaking with Inverse last month, she promised that both female representation and diversity are very importation to the company and that the future of the McU will see many more diverse characters introduced into the fold.

Arguably the most surprising moment of Avengers: Endgame’s entire three-hour runtime comes in the film’s opening minutes, when Thor impulsively follows the advice of the villainous Thanos and goes for the head. By Marvel Studios standards, it was an unusually macabre moment that left filmgoers around the world asking the question, “What now?”
In an interview with ComicBook.com, executive producer Trinh Tran reflected on Thanos’ decapitation, and recalled how she was the first to bring up the idea in discussions:
“He defeated the Avengers in Infinity War. Where does he go from there? How do we continue a story where audiences are going to go, ‘Oh, this is new, this is different,’ rather than just tell the same story again? And we wanted our heroes to be able to go back in time, like that’s the fun of it, right? So I just went, ‘Okay, this is a crazy idea.

One of the most talked-about moments of Avengers: Endgame was the climactic team-up between the McU’s female stars. And in a new pic shared by Marvel Studios, we see the “A-Force” line-up rallied together for a behind-the-scenes photo.
Bookending the team are co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo, along with executive producer Trinh Tran. Starting from the far left, the stars include Danai Gurira of Okoye fame and Scarlet Witch actress Elizabeth Olsen, the latter of whom is set to reprise her role in the upcoming WandaVision TV show.
One star who looks to have ended her run in the McU, meanwhile, is Gwyneth Paltrow, who finally got to suit up in the Rescue armor in her presumed final outing. Next up is Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, who’s expected to return for her own solo sequel. After that, comes Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp, followed by Letitia Wright as Shuri.

Avengers: Endgame – the mega-blockbuster taking the world and global box office by storm – was an emotional rollercoaster. The three hour galactic epic saw the deaths of two of the McU’s most prominent heroes in Iron Man and Black Widow.
Though fans were expecting to say goodbye to either Tony Stark or Captain America by the end of the film, not too many foresaw Black Widow’s demise.
In a recent interview with Variety, writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus discussed the topic and offered up some details on the decisions that led to those key moments.
“Both films were conceived and outlined together,” said McFeely. “We didn’t start writing Infinity War until we knew what the end of Endgame was and that is a conversation that’s happening mostly with Kevin [Feige], Trinh Tran, Anthony and Joe Russo and us.

It’s been over two weeks since the release of Avengers: Endgame, but some of the scenes still have fans talking, and probably will for a while longer. One such moment in the movie occurred before folks could even finish their nachos, and the film’s writers have recently come forward about it.
The scene in question takes place when the remaining heroes discover, quite early into the movie, which planet Thanos is on. They’d been searching for him following the events of Avengers: Infinity War and an energy surge from deep space leads them to the Mad Titan, where, ultimately, Thor fulfills his promise. He goes for the head and decapitates the villain.
What blew fans away is how brazen, and early on, the scene was. It felt like the movie was already over and the next two and a half hours were going to be awkward as hell.

So, who’s been with the Marvel cinematic universe from the start? I certainly have. I still remember back in 2008 dragging my wife to see Iron Man. Although it was a character I had always liked, hundreds of issues of Avengers and Iron Man can confirm that, I remember thinking it was a curious character to focus on first. It was certainly a hard sell for my wife. However 2 hours later, after an incredible performance by Robert Downey, we were both converts. I had the same misgivings with the first Captain America film, the character seemingly regarded as old fashioned to the public at large and also set in World War 2. Going to bomb, right? Nope. Chris Evans was as perfect a Steve Rogers as we could have wished for. We have had 11 glorious years, and 22 films, and it has all led to this,...
