It was only a matter of time before pop culture got to the business of relitigating the Bling Ring case. The story of the Southern California teens who broke into the homes of celebrities like Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Audrina Patridge, and Lindsay Lohan, stealing millions of dollars in jewelry, clothes, and other goods, has all the ingredients of recently re-examined narratives surrounding Britney Spears, Pamela Anderson, and Monica Lewinsky: celebrity culture, a media apparatus intent on rubbernecking, and a judgmental public.

She is the daughter of Lynn Patridge and Mark Patridge — both of whom are TV personalities now, thanks to Audrina. Interestingly, Patridge shares ancestry from five regions — she’s of English, German, Belgian, Italian, and Polish descent (revealed by her in a Q&a session). The real-life ringleader of the Bling Ring didn’t see much shine in Sofia Coppola’s true crime narrative adaptation “The Bling Ring.”
Alexis Haines, née Neiers, slammed Coppola’s 2013 film starring Emma Watson as Nikki, a character loosely based on herself. “That’s the thing that’s so frustrating when you have someone that’s as brilliant as Sofia Coppola and as wonderful an actor as Emma Watson working on a movie together,” Haines told Entertainment Weekly. “You have this opportunity to do something really great and to dig deeper and to look at the complexities, but it’s just lazy.”

The story of Alexis Haines’ entanglement with a circle of Los Angeles-area home invaders has been told multiple times over: In the reporting of Nancy Jo Sales, who profiled her for Vanity Fair in 2010; on her own reality show, “Pretty Wild,” which aired on E! in 2010; and in Sofia Coppola’s 2013 film “The Bling Ring,” based on Sales’ work. Now, Haines (formerly Alexis Neiers), along with former associate Nick Norgo (formerly Nick Prugo), attempts to set the record straight in the Netflix documentary series “The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist.”
The three-episode series sheds little light, and bulks out its running time with idle musings on fame that feel warmed over from the early 2010s. It’s not that Haines’ and Norgo’s stories, told with both respective parties’ permission in this doc, don’t have inherent interest: Both of them became entranced by the concept of celebrity and, as...

Titles like Pieces, Black Christmas, and The Dorm That Dripped Blood get more frequent mentions when discussing pre-90s sorority or dormitory slashers. Remake debates rarely include Sorority Row in their reassessments of unfairly stigmatized 2000s horror revamps based on nostalgia biases (among other reasons). It’s interesting how both seem equally less popular despite their amassed cult followings after meager box office openings.
It’s almost like Hendler attempted to shake the original’s mojo by deeming Sorority Row an adaptation of Rosman’s screenplay Seven Sisters — the earlier iteration of what would become The House on Sorority Row. Don’t mind the trickiness because Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger write their re-imagining indebted to The House on Sorority Row. Maybe late-2000s remake fatigue led to...

Rachel Bilson is making amends with old friends.
The “O.C.” actress once sparked rumours she was dating “Gossip Girl” star Chace Crawford in the 2000s when she was seen hanging out with him.
“Someone saw us talking and the press went with, ‘Oh, did Rachel and Chace hookup?'” Bilson revealed to him on the Aug. 29 episode of her “Broad Ideas” podcast. “My publicist came to me and because at the time I was on a break from my serious relationship, I told her she had to kill the story.”

The denial, however, came out far stronger than Bilson intended, a fact she still felt guilty about to this day.
“They printed it, but it had a quote from my publicist that this is completely fabricated and I’m like, ‘Wait that is so mean.

The sight of Paris Hilton's jewelry covering the surface of a plain, wooden kitchen table was staggering. Diamond bracelets. Bangles. Expensive watches. Cocktail rings. Pearls. This was just some of the stuff the LAPD had recovered when they raided the homes of the teens and 20-somethings we'd later come to know as the Bling Ring. It was 2009, and I was a 25-year-old correspondent for a cable TV network, crouched on the ground in front of police headquarters, scribbling notes as Detective Brett Goodkin shared pictures and descriptions of the loot with me and the three or four dozen other journalists assembled.
It wasn't surprising to me when, fewer than five years later, I found myself watching the story unfold again on the big screen in Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring." The fascination was already at a fever pitch in the fall of 2009. The group was eventually linked to...

Leonardo DiCaprio almost played one of Hollywood’s iconic legends on the big screen.
In an interview with Deadline about his new novel Heat 2, director Michael Mann reveals he once had plans to adapt James Dean’s life into a biopic. He even had his leading man in mind – a young DiCaprio.
“That was so weird about James Dean. It was a brilliant screenplay. And then it’s who the hell could play James Dean?” recalled Mann. “And I found a chap who could play James Dean, but he was too young.”

When Audrina Patridge headed for The Hills in 2006, she didn't know what to expect. And when she descended from the hit MTV reality show—also starring Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag and, later, Kristin Cavallari—after six dramatic seasons, she didn't know what to do. Feeling "lost," the 37-year-old recalled July 22 on E! News' Daily Pop, "I didn't really know what I wanted or who I was, so I moved to the beach. I just had to get out of L.A. and reconnect with myself and figure out, what do I want? Who am I? What's next?" Off-screen reality awaited, along with acting, modeling and hosting, marriage and divorce and, most...

Audrina Patridge is doing the opposite of running for the hills. In fact, she's ready to reveal more about her life than ever before with her new tell-all memoir, Choices. The reality TV alum teased some of what's mentioned in the book during E! News' Daily Pop on July 22, proudly declaring, "I went there. All the way there." In more ways than one, too. The book is a sweeping saga, going from revealing which A-list actor Audrina apparently swapped numbers with (Leonardo Dicaprio!), to examining how her on- and off-screen personas differed and how that oftentimes became a problem for the people in her life who didn't star on The Hills. "It was hard to...

The future of The Hills: New Beginnings has been written—and Brody Jenner is certainly pleased with the outcome. When the reboot was cancelled following season three, "I was so stoked," Brody recently told People. "To be honest, yeah. It just wasn't the same experience. It was very stressful. There was a lot of manipulation involved. It was just a lot." According to Brody, the show MTV originally pitched him, Whitney Port, Audrina Patridge, Spencer Pratt and more was very different from the show they ended up filming, with the group under the impression that New Beginnings would feature the Og cast, as well as new, younger cast members. Out with the old and in with the new? Audrina Patridge and the rest of The Hills cast are still reeling from MTV's announcement that they are creating the spin-off, The Hills: Next Gen, after canceling New Beginnings this January. "I can't believe they're doing this, to be honest," she said in a TalkShopLive stream. "We were all kind of shocked." The reality star added that she's mostly interested to see how things pan out since the new cast will feature 20 twenty-somethings, a major difference from the spin-off's cast of 14. Audrina noted that they had a "really hard" time filming all their lives because of how much was going on, so...

“The Hills: New Beginnings” will not be returning for a third season on MTV, Variety has confirmed.

The rest will never be written.
According to Deadline, MTV has officially canceled The Hills: New Beginnings after two low-rated seasons.
The news should come as no surprise when you consider that the show has never been a big ratings performer for the young-skewing cabler.
A reboot of the popular reality series The Hills (2006-10), New Beginnings featured a mix of old and new cast members, but it had one big issue throughout its run:
It was boring.
Reality TV is typically filled with drama, but the drama was watered down.
Had MTV went in a drastically new direction by bringing no one from the original back, the show might have had legs to sustain storylines.
The series was in jeopardy after its first season.
MTV gave it a vote of confidence in the form of a speedy second-season pickup, but filming was delayed several times due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Audrina Patridge is patiently waiting for her own Superman, although she did, at one point, slide into the DMs of the superhero himself. The Hills: New Beginnings star admitted as much during E!'s Down in the DMs on Dec. 30. "I did send Henry Cavill, like, a cute little face on one of his videos," Audrina recalled. The Hills may not be dead quite yet.
Just weeks after it was announced the series has been placed on indefinite hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic, comes a glimmer of hope.
TMZ is reporting that MTV and Evolution Media are toying with the idea of putting the entire cast into a bubble for some time to finish filming the second season.
Three episodes were in the can ahead of the shutdown, and the producers put a wealth of safety measures in place to allow the cast to film the show safely.
Unfortunately for fans, MTV calls the shots here and they opted to keep the show out of production in a move that shocked the cast.
If the cast film in one home in a bubble, it would make it similar to the network's other series Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, which finds the cast leaving their families to live together.

The Hills: New Beginnings appears to be in danger at MTV.
As previously reported, the series was gearing up to return to production after being placed on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
With safety measures in place, the reboot was just waiting for the green light from ViacomCBS to start filming.
Now, despite the safety measures to make sure the cast and crew could safely produce the show, ViacomCBS have placed production on hold indefinitely.
PageSix first reported the news, and notes that the cast and crew have been angered by the decision, as well as the lack of communication.
“Evolution has hired an outside consultant, an infectious disease doctor and a team that will be doing the testing – and, if need be, contact tracing – if someone was to get Covid-19,” an insider told Page Six.
“They’ve been in touch with LA County Health officials on a regular basis as well.
