Teni Burns is an Irish writer who has been a resident of Semaphore, South Australia for some decades. Her interest in Irish Traveller culture stems from heritage, through relations by birth and by marriage.
A songwriter who transitioned to screenwriting, Songs of the Walking People is Teni's latest screenplay. In addition to her writing, Teni has made documentaries and animation works. Composing for The Public Primary School Festival of Music for several years lead to her South Australian Film Corporation Funded Documentary of the event. This opened The Australasian Little Big Shots Film Festival, screened across Europe & the UK on Teachers TV and received Most Inspirational Film at The Nimbin International Film Festival.
Teni has a Diploma of Ethnomusicology. She is a graduate of The Baldwin School of Jazz, The Arabesque Academy of Middle Eastern Music and Dance and taught classical piano for several years. Her professional creative career began with songwriting and performing, with residencies at popular venues. After sharing the Big Day Out Boiler Room Electronic Dance Music Fest with Fat Boy Slim, Teni won the prestigious Radio JJJ Unearthed National Songwriting Competition. After her 3D animated music video won Best Music Video at The Australian Music Industry Awards, Teni was signed to Warner Chappell Music and then to Alberts Music Publishing. Teni has a wide range of musical accomplishments.
An Animal Lover, Teni has rescued many and has cared for Horses at The Pondarosa Agistment Stables.
