It’s like deja vu all over again: Mark-Paul Gosselaar starring in a show about lawyers on TNT. Gosselaar’s hoping the second time’s a charm. Legal drama “Raising the Bar,” although well-reviewed, didn’t last long despite carrying the pedigree of creators Steven Bochco and David Feige. The new show, “Franklin & Bash,” finds him starring alongside Breckin Meyer, and the big difference is that it’s a comedy.
Gosselaar told us that while he misses “Raising The Bar,” he’s looking forward to the lighter tone of “Franklin & Bash.” The pair’s comedic chemistry carried over to the interview, when Meyer busted Gosselaar’s chops over the series that first made him a star: “Saved By The Bell.” (Click on the audio bar to hear Mark-Paul Gosselaar) Mark Paul Follow us on Twitter http://twitter.com/Foxallaccess

He's back on TNT. He's back in the courtroom playing a lawyer. But Mark-Paul Gosselaar says the similarities between his short-lived legal drama Raising the Bar and his upcoming series Franklin & Bash end there.
For starters, his Raising the Bar character was kind of uptight.
"Honestly, I miss working with [Raising the Bar creators] David Feige and Steven Bocho, but to play that character was ... he was so righteous....

The best thing you could say about the first season of ABC Studios and producer Stephen Bochco’s (NYPD Blue) production Raising the Bar is that it does exactly what it sets out do. Make no mistake about it, this is a by-the-numbers courtroom drama; another addition to an already overcrowded market of day and nighttime television that unfolds primarily in justice’s hallowed halls. Raising the Bar does manage to briefly distinguish itself on the strength of dialogue and production values, but it can’t avoid the sinking feeling that you’ve seen this all before. Nevertheless, there is a certain comfort to the atypical unpredictability the show brings to many of verdicts and the way the lives of the cast intersect.
Raising the Bar primarily revolves around Jerry Kellerman (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), a plainly idealistic public defender whose ruffled shirt and constantly undone tie should help identify him immediately.

TNT has picked up Steven Bochco's drama pilot Raising the Bar to series.
The cable network has ordered 10 episodes of the legal drama starring Jane Kaczmarek, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Gloria Reuben, which revolves around young lawyers who have been friends since law school but now work on opposing sides.
Created by Bochco and lawyer-writer David Feige, author of the 2006 book Indefensible, the ABC Studios/Bochco Media-produced project co-stars Melissa Sagemiller, Currie Graham, Teddy Sears, J. August Richards and Jonathan Scarfe.
Bochco's son, director Jesse Bochco, helmed the pilot for Bar, which was written by Feige. Steven Bochco is executive producing the series.
"'Raising the Bar' is the sort of smart, highly charged legal drama for which Steven Bochco is known and an ideal fit for our line-up," Turner's top content executive Michael Wright said. "Steven and the exceptional cast and crew he's assembled have put together an excellent drama, and we're proud to add another talent-rich, entertaining series to the TNT schedule."
Raising the Bar is one of four pilots TNT greenlighted last year, along with Leverage, Truth in Advertising and Family Man, which remain in contention for a series pickup.
