On October 15, 2015, a semi-truck slammed into 43-year-old Tammy Smith. The nurse and mother of 11 from Johnson, South Carolina, suffered a traumatic brain injury, broken ribs, a collapsed lung and was in a vegetative state until Thanksgiving. Doctors weren't sure she would survive, so when she finally opened her eyes and said her husband’s name, it was an incredibly emotional moment. Now, after months of intense rehabilitation, Tammy is back home, and her devoted husband of 24 years, Bruce Smith, is not taking a single moment for granted. "Every day is still a challenge, but somehow we’ve been given the opportunity for healing,...

With casting for Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 well underway, following this week's relatively unknown addition of Pom Klementieff as Mantis, the Marvel Studios production is now searching for several alien background extras. However, the following casting call from Tammy Smith Casting has received some flak for having "sexist" suggestions. It asks for men who are "tough, rough, quirpy, and biker types" for a "Character Alien" role(s), while the "Beautiful/Model Alien" role(s) asks for "very attractive, physically fit, slender, or thin" women and men. Some Twitter folk and even a few sites took this one particular casting notice to conclude that women who do not fit that description are just not allowed an opportunity to work on the 2017 Marvel sequel altogether. The notice also asks for Bald Women seperately, which some think implies they can't be beautiful. Of course, this criticism garnered a response from Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol.

James Gunn has been forced to defend a recent Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 casting call after it was branded sexist.
A call-out for extras on the Marvel sequel from Tammy Smith Casting asked for "tough, rough biker, quirky type" men for the Ravagers alien gang and "beautiful/model aliens - men and women". The implication being that woman can only be beautiful if they want a role in the sequel.

Moreover, men were asked to come wearing "pants and a dark t-shirt or tank top", with women asked to come in "a form-fitting skirt or dress".

Anderson Cooper has had it up to here with random Twitter users questioning his reporting and accusing him of being biased. Though CNN’s silveriest fox is currently dodging bombs in explosion-ravaged Gaza, he’s still finding time to write sassy replies to those who have been tweeting criticisms at him — users like self-professed “social butterfly” and “chocololic” Pamela Weiss, who asked Cooper why he hasn’t been “report facts” about “the rockets being fired From Gaza?!?”:
.@Pamela_Weiss ummmm…. I just did that and have been doing that repeatedly on twitter and on tv. Do you actually think before you tweet?...

The big news of the day was of course Mitt Romney picking Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate. Ryan is known for his budget plan that would give huge tax breaks to millionaires while gutting Medicare and privatizing Social Security, but he also has a 0% from the Human Rights Campaign on gay issues. He does have great hair though.
Sadly, Matthew Mitcham didn't make it to the finals for the 10M platform dive, but he's already won gold in hearts around the world. Plus that gold he picked up in Beijing.
In a recent interview, Dolly Parton talked about her gay fans. "Being a freak, I know what it's like not being accepted. Not that they were freaks but I was. I just know, through the years, I've had people tell me I should do this or I shouldn't do that. I have a lot of gay fans because...

The Frenzy over Christopher Nolan's final bat-chapter The Dark Knight Rises has seen members of the public flocking to be part of the production.
Thousands waited in line in downtown Pittsburgh to fill 3,000 spots as extras in the final days of casting on the blockbuster.
Tammy Smith, of Smith & Webster-Davis Casting, tells the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "During the past two weekends, more than 8,000 people flocked to the casting calls. I think there has been a very good turnout that fit the categories we were looking for."
Having the right look for a prisoner, victim, criminal, police officer or even just a sports fan is what hopefuls will need to get a shot at screentime.
Also setting off the bat-signal have been comments made by Michael Caine (pictured), who plays Alfred in the Warner Bros franchise.
He told Collider: "I started filming last week and I film next week.
