If you've listened to our Corpse Club member-exclusive episode, then you know we're big fans of Junji Ito, the imaginative mind behind so many memorable manga creations, including Tomie, which is moving forward as an adaptation series on Quibi with Alexandre Aja directing, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick writing, and Adeline Rudolph starring in the lead role.

Exclusive: Quibi has given a green light to Tomie, a series based on Junji Ito’s cult hit horror manga series of the same name, with Adeline Rudolph attached to star in the title role. The series hails from director-producer Alexandre Aja (High Tension), writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (Aquaman), Sony Pictures Television and Ucp, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Written by Johnson-McGoldrick, Tomie is the story of a beautiful high school girl (Rudolph) who goes missing and pieces of her body are discovered scattered around a small town. But what starts out as a murder mystery turns into something even more horrific.
Aja and Johnson-McGoldrick executive produce. Hiroki Shirota is co-producer. Sony Pictures Television co-produces with Ucp.

The distributor has acquired Us rights to the romantic drama starring Bella Thorne based on Norihiro Koizumi’s 2006 Japanese film Taiyo No Uta.
Mister Smith Entertainment handles international sales on the Us version, which centres on a 17-year-old with a life-threatening sensitivity to sunlight who hides her condition from the young man she has secretly admired from afar.
Scott Speer directed Midnight Sun from Eric Kirsten’s adapted screenplay. Patrick Schwarzenegger, Rob Riggle and Quinn Shephard also star.
John Rickard, Zack Schiller and Jen Gatien produced Midnight Sun, and David Boies, James McGough, Alan Ou, Hiroki Shirota and Speer served as executive producers.
Boies/Schiller financed and produced the film alongside Rickard’s Wrigley Pictures. Wme Global and Sky Moore at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan represented Boies/Schiller in the deal.

The film, which is currently in production, stars Bella Thorne (The Duff), Patrick Schwarzenegger (Stuck In Love) and Rob Riggle (21 Jump Street).
Director Scott Speer (Step Up Revolution) is helming a screenplay from debut screenwriter Eric Kirsten.
The story follows a teenage girl (Thorne) who has a life-threatening sensitivity to sunlight. One night, when playing her guitar at a train station, she meets a former high school all-star athlete (Schwarzenegger), with whom she forms an instant romance.
Producers are John Rickard, Zack Schiller and Jen Gatien. Devin Andre is co-producing.
