Mr. Eger's entrepreneurial career has spanned many business categories
including technology, healthcare, and media, but has centered on the
process of developing enterprises from promising ideas.
Mr. Eger serves as CEO of Entertaining Ideas (formerly Rogues Harbor Studios), which he co-founded in 2005 with Cristina Khuly. His media accomplishments include being Executive Producer of War/Dance (2007), the Academy-nominated and Emmy-winning documentary about Ugandan child soldiers, and Shoot Down (2008), the Jury Award-winning documentary at the Sonoma Valley Film Festival.
Prior to EI, Mr. Eger served as Chairman and CEO of Eger, Inc., which created and managed high-growth enterprises. In parallel to Eger, Inc., Mr. Eger operated Taconic Enterprises, Inc., a merchant bank that specialized in investing in and advising high-growth companies. As a principal of Taconic Enterprises, Mr. Eger also co-founded Novix Media with George Magazine co-founder Michael Berman.
Mr. Eger is the former Chairman and CEO of AMEX-listed Sheffield Pharmaceuticals and has founded several other companies in the areas of technology development and corporate finance, including: EIG, an intellectual property development and venture capital concern; Kachina Capital, a firm that advised companies on strategic and financial matters; TechSource, a technology transfer company serving private and public universities-Harvard Medical School, Carnegie Mellon University, Texas A&M, Baylor College of Medicine, the University California System, and INSERM (French equivalent of the U.S. National Institutes of Health) to name a few; Waterboy Products, a consumer sporting goods manufacturing company which he sold to Igloo Corporation. He has been responsible for raising over $300 million for young growth companies.
A passionate environmentalist, Mr. Eger in partnership with Ms. Khuly preserved the 6,800 Lundy Estate in Upstate New York and continues to develop land conservation projects. An unabashed dog lover, he is the proud hiking companion of two rescue dogs, Morgan and Madison. Mr. Eger has served as Chairman of PetMD.com, the largest website of pet health information, and Chairman of the Turken Foundation, an organization that develops training programs for shelter dogs to encourage adoption.
