In the nine years since their formation, Denver-based metallers Havok have already turned out three fairly successful albums: in 2009, Burn landed them a deal with major label Candlelight Records, and two years later their sophomore release Time Is Up brought the band worldwide acclaim as one of the metal acts to watch for, landing them a choice slot on tours with metal legends like Anthrax, Sepultura and Testament. Their latest release, Unnatural Selection, cracked the Billboard Top 200 list in its first week and solidified Havok as a solid player, indeed one of the premier names, in the hit-and-miss '80s thrash revival – a movement comprised mainly of up-and-coming 21st century bands seizing the flame first stoked by the likes of Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth. From the simple but effective songwriting and tight technical skills to rock-solid production and vintage-style album art, this record comes off like a newly-unearthed time...

Caleb Medley may have been in the same hospital as his wife Katie when she gave birth Tuesday, but he never made it to the delivery room to see his son take his first breath. A victim of the Aurora, Colo. theater shooting, Medley instead lay in a medically-induced coma one floor below her. The couple had gone to the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises last Friday as a way to celebrate their last date before becoming parents, but their plans were cut short when the shooting sent Caleb to the University of Colorado's intensive care unit, the Huffington Post reports.

Denver -- A woman whose husband was critically wounded in the Colorado movie theater shooting has given birth to the couple's first child.
Hugo Jackson Medley was born at 7:11 a.m. Mt Tuesday at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, the same hospital where his father, 23-year-old Caleb Medley, lies in critical condition.
The hospital said both the mother, 21-year-old Katie Medley, and baby were doing great.
Katie Medley went into labor Monday, the date that had been scheduled for the delivery before the shooting. However, she moved the delivery so she could be close to her husband.
The couple went to the midnight showing of the new Batman movie in Aurora as a last date before becoming parents. Katie Medley's father, David Sanchez, said his daughter and son-in-law had been waiting for a year to watch the premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises."
Caleb, an aspiring comic, was wounded in the head.

Three days after surviving the attack, a woman went into labor while her husband is still fighting for his life -- how tragic. Katie Medley, 21, and her husband Caleb Medley, 23, were in the Aurora, Colorado theater where James Holmes opened fire during the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises. Katie was able to escape the theater uninjured, but unfortunately her husband was not as lucky. According to Katie's father David Sanchez, Katie's husband Caleb was shot in the head and is now in critical condition. On July 23, Katie went into labor with the couple's first child while her husband remains in critical condition. While his daughter was in labor, Katie's father waited outside the courthouse where James was being arraigned. He angrily told reporters that his pregnant daughter narrowly escaped death. He also added that the couple had been eagerly waiting for a year for the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises.

His hair dyed a shocking comic-book shade of orange-red, the former doctoral student accused of killing moviegoers at a showing of the new Batman movie appeared in court for the first time on Monday, but he didn’t seem to be there at all. James Holmes shuffled into court in a maroon jailhouse jumpsuit with his hands cuffed — the first look the world got of the 24-year-old since the Friday shooting that left 12 people dead and 58 others injured at a packed midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises.

His hair dyed orange-red and a dazed look on his face, the man accused of going on a deadly shooting rampage at the opening of the new Batman movie appeared Monday in court for the first time. An unshaven, handcuffed James Holmes, 24, sat in maroon jailhouse jumpsuit as the judge advised him of the case. Holmes sat motionless, his eyes appearing tired and drooping. At one point, he closed his eyes as the judge spoke. Prosecutors said later they didn’t know if Holmes was on medication. Authorities have said he is being held in isolation at the jail.
