Born in Guayaquil Ecuador, Francisco Macias migrated to Jackson Heights New
York in 1980. Schooled at Bayside Academy of Music & Art. Completing an
internship with City-As-School in 1994, landed a staff Video Editor's
position for the corporate video production offices of Buth-Na-Bodhaige
aka "The Body Shop" stores using the Strassner editing system.
During the 1990's established a career in non-linear post-production using AVID Media Composer hardware & software as well as acquiring & implementing video engineering & Mac OS technical support skills. A chance hiring as an Assistant Editor quickly evolved to Senior Avid Editor for Chelsea Studios Post churning out 200+ cable promo & industrial video projects since 1995. In charge of 3 AVID suites as well as the mobile AVID suites for A&E Biography, Worldwide Pants & WNET. Became a freelance AVID Editor from 1997~1999 for RVI/Rutt Video & Callahan Creative. NYT Television in 2001.
Joined A.R.E.Weapons temporarily replacing their lead guitarist for almost a year in 1999. Formed Lies, a "post-post-punk" outfit in 2000 with Casey Brown & Mark Donahue. Joined The Dream Lovers as lead guitarist for William Bronson & Megan Palmer in 2001. Continues to produce music as solo artist "Matins" & DJs a vast repertoire in the NYC area.
After the fall of 2001 decided to switch gears & leave post-production indefinitely to pursue a career as Live Sound Engineer & Multi-track Recordist using Digidesign ProTools.
Along with Live Music Venue gigs in Manhattan & Brooklyn, has videotaped & produced EPK material as a "labour of love" for several independent music acts since 1997 ie Flux Information Sciences, A.R.E. Weapons, The Secret Machines, Excepter, Gang Gang Dance & Michael Gira of Swans. Had a brief stint as videographer for The Twisted Ones' various live music events in Brooklyn & joined Mighty Robot A/V Squad.
The late 2000's saw a re-entry into non-linear video post as well as self-produced music video & related endeavors.
In 2010 received a nomination for "Best Editing" in a Music Video for Miike Snow's "Animal" at the MTV VMA's.
Lately kicking around both a Flux Information Sciences & A.R.E. Weapons documentary, respectively.
