Less than a minute into Bert Kreischer’s latest special, he rips his shirt off.
The move is met with thunderous applause in Omaha’s Orpheum Theater, where he shot the hour that’s dropping globally March 14 — though you get the sense that that’s the response wherever Kreischer goes. After all, the married dad of two has been performing bare-chested for as long as he can remember. It’s not so much a gimmick, he says, as it is the way he feels most at ease. “It’s so my comfort zone,” he explains over the phone.
Kreischer’s new set, which he’s titled “Razzle Dazzle,” has him making comedy hay of such subjects as bodily emissions, being bullied by his teen daughters, Georgia and Ila, and the explosive end to his family’s escape room outing. The Jax-produced special, his third for Netflix, is directed by Jeff Tomsic...

A little over three years ago, the partners at Jax Media took a big gamble.
The New York indie production banner had prospered through its artisanal approach to producing TV series for such multi-hyphenate stars as Samantha Bee, Amy Schumer, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, as well as its ability to execute high-gloss scripted series including “Younger” and “Search Party” on modest budgets.
Jax’s commercial success and creative sensibilities attracted the attention of Imagine Entertainment. The four core Jax partners — producers Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, John Skidmore and Brooke Posch — were nervous as they reached a deal to sell a significant stake to Imagine in early 2018. They worried whether the sale would affect the culture of doing whatever it takes to serve the vision of artists.
“We are a customer-service business,” says Hernandez, who is CEO of the company he founded in 2011.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details about the Season 5 finale of Broad City.
The loopy, totally dope friendship of Abbi and Ilana of Broad City isn’t truly over, it’s just moved to anther plane of existence that lies somewhere beyond the city limits of New York and off the programming grid of Comedy Central. The 50th and final episode of the critically acclaimed buddy saga about two women who process life more than they actually progress through it.
The final episode was, fittingly, a stoner meander through NYC with the ever-vocal and always-local Abbi (Abbi Jacobson) and Ilana (Ilana Glazer), who have done for the Big Apple what Lenny & Squiggy did for Milwaukee or Bert & Ernie did for Sesame Street or Bill & Ted did for San Dimas — which is maybe not a whole lot, in the final analysis, but at least it all was accomplished with someone special...

There will be no second season for Bet’s The Rundown with Robin Thede. The network has opted not to move forward with another season of the late-night comedy series that debuted in October.
“At this time Bet Networks has decided not to renew ‘The Rundown with Robin Thede.’ We have so much love and respect for our Unicorn and look forward to finding ways to continue in partnership with Robin,” Bet said in a statement.
Hosted by Thede, the show featured a mix of headlines, sketches, field pieces and short documentary segments and provided a platform for Thede, former head writer and contributor for The Nightly Show, as the only African American female host in late-night TV.
The Rundown With Robin Thede was produced by Jax Media (Full Frontal With Samantha Bee), with Chris Rock and Thede serving as executive producers. Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, John Skidmore and Genevieve Anniello also executive produced.
