While Fantasy Island didn't generate big ratings in its first season, the reboot did pick up 60-75% more viewers in the live+7 day ratings. The Fox network's studio also co-produces the show and that means Fantasy Island generates some extra revenue for the company, which is important these days. Will this be enough to get Fantasy Island renewed for season three, or could it be cancelled? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.

"We were very pleased with Fantasy Island's fun and escapist creative, which we had hoped would gain strong traction among viewers," the network said in a statement, adding:
"We'd also like to thank Fantasy Island's cast, led by Roselyn Sánchez, Kiara Barnes and John Gabriel Rodriquez, crew and executive producers Liz Craft, Sarah Fain and Anne Clements for their partnership on the series."
Fantasy Island averaged 2.8 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in its final season with Live + 7 playback included.
The numbers were very soft for Fox, but the fact that the show had a small group of series regulars meant there was a chance the show could survive.

No more tropical island escapes for Fox: the network is not renewing Fantasy Island for a third season.
Fox greenlit the contemporary version of the classic drama series in 2021. The series, which takes place at a luxury resort, starred Roselyn Sanchez stars as Elena Roarke, a descendant of the original series’ enigmatic Mr. Roarke.
The series was done under a low-cost business model, so its threshold for success was lower. But Fox still decided to have the sun set on its summer series.

Fox won’t be making any more trips to Fantasy Island.
The network has canceled its drama series after two seasons and 23 episodes. The end for the series comes a day after its second-season finale aired.
Created and run by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain, Fantasy Island is a sequel to and update of the 1977-84 ABC series that starred Ricardo Montalban. Roselyn Sánchez stars as Elena Roarke, a descendant of Montalban’s character who runs a resort that offers to fulfill its guests’ dreams and desires. Kiara Barnes and John Gabriel Rodriquez also star.
The series, a co-production of Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment, premiered in summer 2021 and drew a relatively modest audience — though large enough that, combined with the show’s relatively low cost compared to other hour-long dramas, earned it a second season. Season two averaged 2.74 million viewers and a 0.27 rating among adults 18-49 after seven...

Fox's Fantasy Island is a magical, idyllic tropical paradise where guests are welcomed to their holiday adventure by their elegant hostesses and the dashingly charming head of transportation, Javier.
As Javier, John Gabriel Rodriquez's brilliant smile and confident approach to piloting, whether by sea or air, is a warm and comforting entry point to what invariably proves to be a life-changing experience.
Speaking with TV Fanatic via Zoom from his home in Los Angeles, Rodriquez is just as affable and eloquently thoughtful as his on-screen character.
The current series is a revival of the original Ricardo Montalbán-anchored series that premiered in 1978 and went on to seven seasons of guest star-studded, fantastical must-see TV.
Before booking the role of Javier, Rodriquez understood the cultural phenomenon his series was built on.

Teen Mom 2 alum Briana DeJesus admits that her new relationship is the “first, real mature one” she’s been in.
For the past five years, Briana’s love life has played out for Teen Mom 2 viewers as they’ve watched her navigate through several failed relationships. Briana’s relationship with her first baby daddy, Devoin Austin, didn’t last long, but they’ve found a way to co-parent their daughter, Nova, peacefully.
A one-night stand with DJ Luis Hernandez resulted in Briana becoming pregnant with her second daughter, Stella, but the romance between herself and Luis didn’t have staying power. Briana then briefly dated John Rodriguez before getting engaged to Javi Gonzalez in the spring of 2021; she broke off the engagement four months later.

AMC released the trailer for its upcoming original series, “Dark Winds.” Based on the “Leaphorn & Chee” books by Tony Hillerman, the noir thriller premieres June 12 on AMC and AMC+ with its first two episodes and a new episode each Sunday thereafter.
“Dark Winds” takes place in 1971, on a secluded outpost of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley, Ariz. The series follows Tribal Police Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) as he is overcome by a string of what seem to be completely unrelated crimes. But, as he gets closer to the truth, the more he is visited by the wounds of his past. His new deputy, Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon), joins him on the journey, and he, too, has scores to settle from his years on the reservation as a young man. The two men join forces in the battle against evil, themselves and their demons as they travel the path to salvation.

Elena Roarke may have a fascinating backstory, but she’s got nothing on the guy drinking out of her toilet.
Fantasy Island briefly returned to Fox on Thursday with a two-part Christmas special, much of which focused on Elena’s golden retriever Mr. Jones. In his previous life as a human, “Nathan” was apparently big in the medical world, working alongside his wife and best friend to develop life-saving technologies. But when his faulty designs were blamed for several deaths in a trial, Nathan ran away to Fantasy Island, where he… you know… turned into a dog.

The original Fantasy Island TV series ran for seven successful seasons on ABC but the 1998 reboot on the same network was cancelled after one year. How will this newest version on Fox perform in the ratings? Will Fantasy Island be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A drama series, the Fantasy Island TV show is based on the 1977-84 series of the same name. This incarnation stars Roselyn Sánchez, Kiara Barnes, and John Gabriel Rodriquez. The story is set at a luxury resort, where literally any fantasy requested by guests is fulfilled, although they rarely turn out as expected. Different people arrive at the resort with dreams and desires and depart enlightened and transformed through the magical realism of Fantasy Island. Elena Roarke (Sanchez) is the steward of this mysterious island and is a descendant of the iconic Mr. Roarke.

TheWrap: How much do you plan on diving into the island’s mythology and the backstory of Elena Roarke (Roselyn Sánchez) — the great-niece of the original “Fantasy Island’s” Mr. Roarke (Ricardo Montalbán) — and her associates Ruby (Kiara Barnes) and Javier (John Gabriel Rodriquez) moving forward,...

There’s an obvious grabbiness to the premise of “Fantasy Island” — the 1977-84 ABC drama now revived as a Fox summer soap. In the show’s first run, Ricardo Montalbán and Hervé Villechaize were hoteliers able to alter reality per guests’ cravings, often in frightening ways. The appeal is as old as King Midas, whose request for the golden touch, once fulfilled, ruined his life — a reminder to be happy with one’s own lot. Little wonder that there have been several attempts to bring the isle back, including a horror-film adaptation last year.
This new “Fantasy Island” lacks the 2020 Blumhouse film’s savage imagination, but has its pleasures. Roselyn Sanchez plays a descendant of Montalbán’s Mr. Roarke; her frosty mien helps create oddity and remove. Aided by Ruby (Kiara Barnes), who journeys to the island in the pilot, Sanchez’s Elena Roarke improves her guests by giving them what they need,...

Nearly four decades after viewers took their last voyage to the original Fantasy Island, a descendant of Mr. Roarke is back to carry on his legacy — but she’s doing things a little differently.
“I think it’s our time,” Roselyn Sanchez, who stars as Elena Roarke, says of the women running both the island and the show itself. “Eight out of our 10 directors were female, our showrunners [Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain] are female, and even several of the department heads are female. I think it’s needed.”
