Mappa Studios, known for some of the biggest anime series of recent years like Jujutsu Kaisen, Vinland Saga, Chainsaw Man, Hells Paradise, Attack on Titan, etc., has earned the praise of another prominent Japanese animation studio, Studio Pierrot. The producer of the studio recently admitted that Mappa might have an upper hand in the anime industry.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Pierrot itself is a big name in the anime industry, with series like Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach, Black Clover, and Tokyo Ghoul under its belt. However, the producer of the studio believes that Mappa might be better at producing high-quality work in a short period of time. He also gave an example of Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen.
He has also clarified that the studio is in the process of branding the company to introduce a new perspective, which will help them focus on both long-term and short-term series.

In a recent interview with Men’s Non-No the producer of Bleach, Yoshihiko Tominaga, disclosed that Studio Pierrot is launching a new studio ‘Pierrot Films’.

Tominaga revealed that while the studio excels at long-term productions, it hasn’t always kept pace with the trend of shorter, impactful series like Jujutsu Kaisen. To adapt to this changing audience preference Pierrot Films will focus on producing such projects, starting with the highly anticipated Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War.
