Ufc
Ufc 193 proved to be one of the most shocking events in the promotion’s history, as the company’s biggest star (and biggest draw), Ronda Rousey, lost her women’s bantamweight title in a shock upset against Holly Holm.
Now, just weeks later, one of the most anticipated fights in Ufc history goes down when the man who is arguably the Ufc’s second biggest star at this point, Ireland’s Conor McGregor, takes on Jose Aldo for the Ufc featherweight championship.
This is a fight that was supposed to happen at Ufc 189, which had a multi-nation whirlwind press tour take place ahead of it, only for Aldo to pull out with a rib injury. McGregor would accept a last minute replacement in the form of Chad Mendes, the consensus number one contender at the time, and win the interim featherweight title by second round knockout.

Conor McGregor, the Irish sensation who is currently the Ufc interim featherweight champion, has a huge showdown coming up again Jose Aldo at Ufc 194. That hasn’t stopped him from engaging in numerous feuds, including one with none other than WWE Superstar Sheamus. The two share Irish heritage, but little else it seems.
Apparently, the beef between the two stems from interviews McGregor did in which Sheamus felt he was disrespectful to the WWE.
He was having a go at WWE in these interviews he was doing. The first couple of times I let it go but then I decided to have a bit of craic and banter with him. If someone’s going to have a crack, that’s fine.
That resulted in a Twitter spat, where McGregor told the wrestler;
You will wake up with no teeth and your nose on my mantle.
Things died down for a bit,...

The Swedish crowd was silenced throughout the main card. No one saw this coming. What happened at Ufc Fight Night: Nelson vs. Story was almost unthinkable heading into the event: every single local favourite, several given arguably “easy” or at least winnable match-ups, lost.
That’s right: all four fights on the four fight main card of Ufc Fight Night: Nelson vs. Story ended in upset.
It was an unbelievable turn of events, and each time out, the crowd in Sweden went quiet at the end.
It’s not at all what the local fans wanted to see, but don’t think for a second that it wasn’t an exciting night of action. In fact, unlike with many of the cards set up in Brazil, where Brazilian fighters routinely come out on top, the Swedish card having so many upsets actually made things more entertaining. The fact that...

Ufc
Hot off the heels of the successful Ufc 178 card this past weekend, the Ufc returns to Europe, and in particular Sweden, home of light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson, for its next Ufc Fight Night card, Ufc Fight Night: Nelson vs. Story. Fight Night 43, however, will not have Gustafsson on the card, but instead team mate and training partner Ilir Latifi, and Icelandic wrestling standout Gunnar Nelson taking on Rick “The Horror” Story in the main event.
A Fight Pass event, the lack of a big name on the card may keep casual fans away (and the fact that this is the first card of a double header, as Fight Night 44 goes down later in the day), but the Ufc is banking on Nelson being a breakout star in Europe, riding the wave that team mate Conor McGregor has started. On top of that, they’ve loaded the card with...

An electric night of mixed martial arts at the O2 in Dublin will long be remembered by fans. Undoubtedly one of the greatest nights in Mma, the Irish proved that it definitely won’t be another five years before the Ufc returns to the territory.
9,500 people packed the Dublin O2, creating an atmosphere that Ufc President Dana White has called the greatest he has experienced in his 13 years with the organisation.
Some of the best performances included Flyweight Neill Seery, who showed why he deserves to be in the Ufc with a dominating win over Phil Harris. Also, Ilir Latifi showcased incredible power, with a vicious knockout of Chris Dempsey.
However, the night was highlighted by the dominance of Straight Blast Gym fighters, all of whom winning their respective bouts. Patrick Holohan kick started the night with a submission win over Josh Sampo,...

Ufc Fight Night: McGregor vs. Brandao took place Saturday night in Dublin, Ireland for the local crowd, and it proved to be an exciting affair.
Going down Saturday afternoon for those of us on the other side of the pond, it was a card worth getting started early for. The raucous Irish crowd cheering and chanting throughout every bout made for an amped up, insanely fun event right from the very first fight of the preliminary card. For the second event in a row, the Ufc really hit it out of the park with the card it provided, even if it wasn’t the most exciting card on paper, and only featured one bout that truly had any sort of title implications.
The star of the show, of course, was the brash, trash talking Irish fighter Conor McGregor, a former two-weight class champ in Cage Warriors. Could McGregor back his words up in the cage?...

Managing director of Emea events Garry Cook stated that the event sold out in 35 minutes, showing the passion of Irish fans for Mma.
In anticipation for the UK’s biggest mixed martial arts event ever, we preview the so-called Conor McGregor show as he prepares to take on Diego Brandao in a colossal Featherweight clash with huge implications on the current rankings.
The rest of the card features a deluge of exciting match ups, including a very tasty Flyweight battle between Brad “One Punch” Pickett and “Uncle Creepy” Ian McCall. This fight was originally scheduled for Fight Night 37 in London, however an injury foced McCall to withdraw from the fight. Now these two will finally get a chance to clash.
Elsewhere on the card, Ultimate Fighter 19 competitor Cathal Pendred gets his competitive Ufc debut, as he takes on fellow Tuf 19 Middleweight Mike King. Both men were standouts on the show,...

It’s the second Fight Night of the week as the Ufc comes to Dublin, Ireland Saturday!
Ufc Fight Night: McGregor vs. Brandao, numerically Ufc Fight Night 46, and sometimes referred to as Ufc Fight Night: Dublin (confused yet?), airing on Fight Pass, was originally headlined by a featherweight fight between Irish Mma stand-out Conor McGregor and Cole Miller. Back at the start of May on Ufc Tonight, McGregor, not one to ever shy away from trash talk, had this to say about Cole Miller, and Miller’s earlier callout of him:
“That man opened his mouth. He was under the influence of post-fight adrenaline and it has the same effect as alcohol. It makes you brave. But guess what happened? It wore off. Now he has to face the reality that he’s going to face me – me coming back from this injury is a man possessed.”

The Ufc returned to England this past weekend with a huge card (12 fights!), but unfortunately the overwhelming majority ended in decisions. English Thom Burton joins me to dissect the card and pick out the gems.
The highlight of the night was certainly the fourth fight in the prelims. It featured Southampton’s own Tom Watson (16-5) earning a 2nd round Tko victory in a back and forth fight over Stanislav Nedkov (12-1, 1), making his Middleweight debut. The key to victory for Watson was undoubtedly his proficiency in the clench, landing several clean short elbows and multiple unanswered knees before the massive Bulgarian crumpled to the canvas, unable to continue. The fight earned a double bonus with Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night honors, netting Watson an additional $100,000.
The second fight to distinguish itself pitted Kiwi James Te-Huna (16-5) against Canadian slugger Ryan Jimmo (17-2). Even after eating...

Matthew and Gunnar Nelson Gunnar Nelson is the master of his own evolution. As one-half of the famous Nelson twins who formed the band Nelson back in the late 1980's, he has had some uphill battles to fight, both musically and personally - all within a business that has not always been kind. Despite the pitfalls, Gunnar and Matthew are back to solidify their brand with a new record aptly titled "Lightening Strikes Twice." It's the highly anticipated follow up to their multi-platinum 1990 debut "After the Rain" which garnered the #1 hit ("Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection" and the follow up single "After the Rain." The first track released from the new record, "All I Need Tonight", is accompanied by the band's first video in years. Closing a twenty-year gap, Gunnar and Matthew have now decided that the conditions are ripe for a rock and roll take-over, proving once...

David was best known for his role on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet (TV), a family show created by his parents which drew it's plot lines from many of the Nelson's real life experiences. The Nelson twins are synonymous with many things, not the least of which is music. Lightening struck fast and furious when their debut album "After the Rain" went platinum in1990, and with a new CD in the works, they're primed for a second strike. It's not unlikely, afterall. Talent does have a way of repeating itself. Mathew Nelson and Gunnar Nelson surged onto the musical scene in 1990 with their long blond locks, boyish good looks, and a handful of catchy pop/rock songs and videos. Their so-called "overnight success" began with a platinum debut album that garnered a #1 hit with "(Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection," followed by four top-ten hits, four #1 videos on MTV/VH1, and a world-wide tour. Their venture into music at a young age came as no surprise. Aside from inheriting good looks by "hitting the gene pool lottery" as Matthew describes it, the brothers...
