Damn. it was a good year for music.
It didn’t always feel that way, though. While Kendrick Lamar’s aforementioned fourth studio album -- which hit like a meteor on the Friday before the rapper’s monster set to close out Coachella -- much of 2017 was defined by growers rather than out of the gate jams and much of the summer passed without a bona fide “Song of” said season. (Barely. More on that in a second.)
Really, it's only on looking back at the cavalcade of "Best Of" lists that footnote every year that you realize how full of noteworthy sounds 2017 in particular was. And now, with the nearly ubiquitous acceptance of streaming as the primary method of song consumption, not only is the roster of artists who find both large audiences and critical acclaim more diverse and democratized than ever, but the entire idea of a publication-determined "Best Music of the Year" feels almost silly. Carrie Underwood‘s home is full of holiday cheer.
The singer recently got her first taste of a popular seasonal tradition — baking Christmas cookies! — with a little help from her 2½-year-old son Isaiah Michael.
“Made Christmas cookies with the little man today,” Underwood, 34, captioned an Instagram photo gallery of Isaiah squeezing a little extra frosting on a tree-shaped treat from his highchair, plus the finished product.
“I actually don’t think I’ve ever made Christmas cookies before but this will definitely be a new tradition in the Fisher household!” she added. “Newsflash: Isaiah likes frosting (shocker)! ”

Turtle power!
Carrie Underwood‘s 2½-year-old son may like turtles, but the singer isn’t much of a fan.
The 34-year-old shared a sweet Instagram photo on Thursday of little Isaiah Michael leaning in to pet a large turtle — and couldn’t help but share her personal feelings about the animal.
“Fun fact: the only animal I do Not like is a turtle. I’m fine with and s and anything else that most people find scary, but s are Not Ok,” she began in the photo’s caption.

Motherhood looks great on Carrie Underwood.
But before she delivered now-2-year-old son Isaiah Michael in 2015, she and husband Mike Fisher were unsure of how their busy always-on-the-road work lives were going to balance out with the much-needed family time that’s essential in raising a child.
“Our whole life has changed,” the singer told People Now during a trip to Catalina Island, California, where she boarded a Carnival Cruise Ship to perform for military families as part of her ongoing partnership with Operation Homefront.
“I remember when we first found out we were gonna have him it like, ‘How are we gonna do this?...

Carrie, something seemed totally off last night when you were interviewed on the Grammys red carpet by Ryan Seacrest!
Carrie Underwood, you’re normally so bubbly and full of life but someone or something clearly sucked all of the fun out of you before the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards even began. As soon as you walked onto the E! podium hosted by Ryan Seacrest we could tell that something wasn’t quite right. You did talk about your fiance, Canadian hockey star Mike Fisher, 29, and the fact that you weren’t ready to “feed him to the wolves” just yet [meaning press]. We completely understand — Mike’s from a small town in Canada and even though he’s a hockey star we’re sure he’s not used to this kind of limelight. You told Ryan that wedding planning is underway and you even confessed that your parents just met his parents!
