For years, Awesome Art We’ve Found Around The Net has been about two things only – awesome art and the artists that create it. With that in mind, we thought why not take the first week of the month to showcase these awesome artists even more? Welcome to “Awesome Artist We’ve Found Around The Net.” In this column, we are focusing on one artist and the awesome art that they create, whether they be amateur, up-and-coming, or well-established. The goal is to uncover these artists so even more people become familiar with them. We ask these artists a few questions to see their origins, influences, and more. If you are an awesome artist or know someone that should be featured, feel free to contact me at any time at theodorebond@joblo.com.This month we are very pleased to bring you the awesome art of…

This post contains light spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Among the many pleasures of the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was its celebration of all things Spider-Man. The 2018 film filled the screen with webheads, letting audiences delight in all of the variations of people and creatures who can do anything a spider can. Into the Spider-Verse made fast fans of Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy aka Ghost Spider and Nicolas Cage‘s tough-talking Spider-Man Noir. Across the Spider-Verse continues this tradition with Oscar Isaac as conflicted antagonist Spider-Man 2099, but the real breakout is the movie’s loudest, rudest character: Spider-Punk.
Voiced by Daniel Kaluuya (in an accent closer to his native English), Spider-Punk is Hobie Brown, the Spider-Man of Earth-138. Draped in the trash aesthetic of 70s UK punk, Hobie battles against oppression with a commitment to anarchy and disruption. Spider-Verse directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers,...

Comic book creator Mark Millar has quietly been working on a new series that he hopes will tap into the global audience of Netflix, the streaming service that is home to his Millarworld comics.
The Ambassadors centers on six characters in six different countries, and the concept is described as “Willy Wonka with superpowers.” It takes place in a world in which the superhuman genome has been cracked, and the scientist behind it is a Korean billionaire who builds the world’s first superhuman headquarters in Seoul and alerts the world that she will turn six ordinary people into super-people. This sparks a global competition for people who want to join a team that will be on call 24/7 for superhuman emergencies.

After outsmarting aliens in Jordan Peele’s Nope, Daniel Kaluuya is swinging into action as Spider-Punk for Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Justin K. Thompson, Joaquim Dos Santos, and Kemp Powers direct the highly-anticipated sequel to what some consider the best Spider-Man film ever, with Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Christina Steinberg producing.
Plot details remain a mystery. However, we know the film picks up with Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) fully embracing his role as Brooklyn’s Spider-Man. Returning for more web-slinging shenanigans across the Spider-Verse is Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), with other Spider-People joining the fray to battle a new and powerful villain.
Kaluuya will voice Hobart “Hobie” Brown, a.k.a. Spider-Punk. Swinging onto the Marvel Comics scene in 2015, thanks to writer Dan Slott and artist Olivier Coipel, Brown is a teenager without a home trying to survive an unforgiving New York City. Attitudinal and thin on patience...

Nope‘s Daniel Kaluuya is the newest addition to the voice cast of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse — Sony’s follow-up to its experimental hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which grossed over 384M worldwide and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2019.
The actor joins an ensemble which will also include Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Issa Rae, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Jason Schwartzman, as previously announced.
The original feature directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman watched as the teenage Miles Morales (Moore) became the Spider-Man of his universe, then joining with five spider-powered individuals from other dimensions to stop a threat to all realities.
The new Spider-Man will be another epic adventure transporting Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood web-slinger across the Multiverse. He’ll again join forces in the new title with Gwen Stacy...

"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" remains not only one of the best superhero movies ever made but arguably the best Spider-Man film. Four years later, this movie remains an absolute marvel of storytelling and of animation, a film that changed the game for American animation, inspiring a stylized look that influenced everything from "The Mitchells vs. the Machines" to "The Bad Guys" and "Entergalactic."
The film, of course, was not just a fantastic superhero origin story, but the first time the multiverse was used as a main plot point in a superhero movie. Rather than just a montage with some cute filters, "Into the Spider-Verse" used the medium of animation to show the promise of the multiverse for superhero films, exploring vastly different places and characters that truly looked out of this world.
The sequel, "Across the Spider-Verse," promises to be even more ambitious, with a villain that is meant to...

Daniel Kaluuya is swinging into the Spider-Verse.
The actor, last seen having a close encounter in Jordan Peele’s Nope, has joined the voice cast of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the sequel to the Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Justin K. Thompson, Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers are directing the feature, which is set to hit theaters on June 2, 2023. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Christina Steinberg are producing.
Plot details are being kept secret, but Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, is forced to reteam with Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) and a new cadre of Spider-People to face off with a powerful villain.
Kaluuya will voice the character of Hobart “Hobie” Brown, aka Spider-Punk. The character is a more recent Marvel Comics creation, having first appeared in 2015 from writer Dan Slott and artist Olivier Coipel.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has made a fortune — roughly 25 billion globally — on loosely adapting Marvel Comics series. As a publisher with over 80 years of comic titles, each MCU film has the unenviable task of cherrypicking which iteration of Marvel's characters, timelines, and stories it'll use. Usually, an MCU film or television show will focus on a specific run, like how "Wandavision" primarily used Brian Michael Bendis and Olivier Coipel's "House of M" as a basis for its Scarlet Witch. Or the MCU will borrow aspects of a title (2012's "The Avengers" used Loki as a villain that united the Avengers, similar to...

When you really think about it, there is probably no comics character more responsible for more amazing runs of Marvel books than Asgard’s God of Mischief, Loki Laufeyson. This is partly due to the secretly high concentration of outstanding Thor runs through the ages, but, as you’ll see, Loki is largely responsible on page for the birth of the shared Marvel Comics Universe, which puts their horns in a lot of different comics pies.
Loki is about to be hotter than ever, which means that key single issues from his comics history are going to become even more collectible than before…and sound investments if you’re hoping to own some pieces of comics history that will appreciate in value over time.

Millar’s anime series ‘Super Crooks’ to debut later this year
Mark Millar is developing a new spy series for Netflix, his first in the genre since his celebrated “Kingsman” series. Additionally, Millar announced that Netflix is putting “The Magic Order” back in active development.
“We’re hard at work on a six-episode live-action spy series right now, my first since ‘Kingsman,’ but a very different kind of property,” Millar said in a blog post shared by Netflix on Thursday. “The writer is someone I’ve been a massive fan of for two decades, and he was the only person I approached. This has the potential to be one of the biggest franchises I’ve ever created.”
“The Magic Order” was created by Millar in house at Netflix, marking his first property since his Millarworld company was acquired by the streaming giant in 2017. It was later turned into a comic book,...

Everyone is uniquely talented in their own right, and Olivier Coipel is one of those people whose talents are exceptionally special. His talent for art is second to none, and it makes him stand out as one of the most talented artists in the industry today. His ability to make a comic book and create art that is memorable and outstanding is truly astounding, and he is recognized widely for his skill. However, it seems that many of his fans are only fans of his work more so than they are fans of the man behind the art. Let’s change

One of the biggest points of speculation about DC’s next big event, Future State, was who would be wearing the Batman cape and cowl. Well, the fox is now out of the bag: the star of John Ridley, Nick Derington, and Laura Braga’s Future State: The Next Batman is none other than…Tim Fox!
Wait, what?
Tim Fox, Lucius Fox’s Other son, is an odd choice to head up the Bat-family, in part because he hasn’t really been seen in 40 years. So why is the second most popular Fox child taking over as Batman after not showing up in the comics for the better part of 40 years? The clues might be in his first (and only) story arc.
Tim’s first appearance was in 1981’s Batman #313, created by Len Wein and Irv Novick. He is almost immediately established as a young man who isn’t exactly...

Exclusive: Netflix has opted not to proceed with The Magic Order, its upcoming series based on the Mark Millar comic published by Netflix. The project had been in early pre-production in Prague for a targeted 2021 start. It had not yet begun casting, with scripts still being written.
I hear Netflix brass continue to be high on The Magic Order IP; upon release, the comic became the highest selling new comic-book launch in almost 20 years, with additional volumes coming soon.
I hear a decision was made that the series as currently envisioned won’t move forward but the streamer hopes to revisit The Magic
Order as a TV series in the future.
The large scope of the project and the global uncertainty amid the pandemic were a factor in the decision not to go forward with the series, though not the primary one, I hear.

The Joker War rages on in Gotham, and ahead of the release of Batman: The Joker War Zone, DC shared new information about the tie-in book’s contents. Guess what that means? If you guessed “James Stokoe drawing a Clownhunter story”, please leave next Wednesday’s Powerball numbers in the comments.
The 48-page book has five announced stories. The first looks at Poison Ivy’s return to Gotham (which happened in Batman #98). It’s called “Ashes of Eden,” written by Sam Johns and drawn by Laura Braga (Harley & Ivy Meet Betty & Veronica). As you can see from the preview pages, Braga has a vaguely Amanda Conner feel to her art that should play well in such an exaggerated setting.
The second story is the aforementioned Clownhunter feature, by regular Batman writer and Joker War mastermind James Tynion IV and world renowned Xenomorph artist James Stokoe, and it’s just ridiculous.

Decades ago (pandemic time), DC Comics announced that John Ridley, Oscar-winning writer of 12 Years a Slave and creator of the award-winning American Crime, would be writing a series about major events in DC history from the perspective of heroes from traditionally marginalized groups. And now, in the wake of All This *waves at the world*, that series finally has a release date.
The Other History of the DC Universe is coming from DC Comics in November of this year. The book is written by Ridley, with art from Giuseppi Camuncoli (Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith), Andrea Cucchi, and colorist Jose Villarubia. The book will have covers from Camuncoli and Jamal Campbell, the budding superstar currently drawing Far Sector.

It’s not easy being the greatest female icon in the history of American comic books but, even after more than seven decades on the job, the Amazon princess they call Wonder Woman handles that burden with noble grace and singular determination.
That’s one way to interpret the striking, just-released cover artwork for the upcoming, 96-page, prestige-format, 750th issue of Wonder Woman from Burbank-based publisher DC Comics. The milestone issue will hit shelves at brick-and-mortar retailers on January 22, the same day it lands on the virtual spinner racks of online retailers.
The image evokes the Hellenic imagery of mighty Atlas hefting the world on his Titan shoulder and it was illustrated by Catwoman writer/artist Joëlle Jones, just one of the many DC stars who made contributions to commemorative issue.
Announced interior artists include Colleen Doran, Jesus Merino, Elena Casagrade, Gabriel Picolo, and Wonder Woman Rebirth illustrator Nicola Scott.

Looks like J.J. Abrams is mixing things up and trying something new. He is set to co-write a new Spider-Man comic book for Marvel with his son Henry. They are teaming up with Ultimate Spider-Man artist and Miles Morales co-creator Sara Pichelli on this project. Dave Stewart will do the colors with covers from Olivier Coipel.
The comic will be a five-part series, and the story will introduce a new villain to the Marvel universe named Cadaverous, who “will cause problems for Spider-Man, his alter-ego, Peter Parker, and his beloved Mary Jane Watson.”
There are no details on what the story will tell, but Abrams promises that the series will show Peter Parker “in a way you haven’t seen him before.” Abrams also said that this has been in the works for awhile:
“Nick [Lowe, Marvel Comics editor] had been pressing me to do a book with him. A year or so ago,...

If you’re a Spider-Man fan, then there’s a very good chance you’ve been taken on an emotional rollercoaster ride in the past few days. Long story short, Marvel posted the number “4” formed out of webs on their Twitter page over the weekend, thereby forcing True Believers to think that a comic book based on Sam Raimi’s canned Spider-Man 4 movie was in the works. Well, either that or a possible Future Foundation reunion.
To the chagrin of many, it wasn’t long before those hopes were dashed when a “3,” a “2” and a “1” followed on subsequent days, thus revealing we were enduring a countdown of some sort. Though the speculation was fun while it lasted, someone needs to tell the House of Ideas that nobody starts a countdown at “4.”
As it turns out, the big announcement is that famed movie producer/writer/director J.J. Abrams is actually...

Part 1. Into the Spider-Verse
You won't find two of the wildest (and most interesting) members of Marvel Comics' Spider-Verse in the new animated superhero blockbuster Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse. Granted, you will find several other variations on Peter Parker's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in the film, like Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Gwen. But you won't find either Spider-Man: India's Pavitr Prabhakar or Supaidaman protagonist Takuya Yamashiro (Shinji Todō) in Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse, even though both characters have appeared in the Spider-Verse comics, scripted by Dan Slott and penciled by Olivier Coipel and Giuseppe Camuncoli.

Exclusive: Just under a year after Netflix inked a deal to purchase Kick-Ass, Jupiter’s Legacy and Kingsman creator Mark Miller’s comic booking publishing company, the team have their inaugural series The Magic Order coming out next week – and its poised to be a total sell-out.

Netflix has given us numerous series based on comic books, but now the streaming giant is going back to the source material with its first comic book titled The Magic Order from writer Mark Millar and Marvel’s superstar artist Olivier Coipel.
The Magic Order is the first franchise created by Millar since Netflix acquired his entertainment company Millarworld. As seen in the trailer above, The Magic Order blends magic and the mob with five generation-old families of magicians who are tasked with protecting our world. Now, they must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day they live among us as our neighbors, friends, and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians, and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness — unless the darkness gets them first.

'Marvel Cinematic Universe' actress Elizabeth Olsen, aka 'Scarlet Witch' has revealed she would be interested in appearing in a solo feature, adapting Marvel Comics' "House of M" title:
"I would love to," said Olsen about appearing in a stand-alone 'Scarlet Witch' feature. "...and I would love it to be 'House Of M'...
"...which is a comic book series of 'The Vision' and 'Scarlet Witch' having a make-believe family.
"Then they have to tell her that she was make-believing the entire time...
"...and she has a very traumatic experience and screams, and kills all the mutants ...
"...but that’s an 'X-Men' story so we’d have to adjust the ending..."
"House of M" (2005), the eight-issue comic book limited series was written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Olivier Coipel...
...in which 'mutant' superhero 'Scarlet Witch' believes she has a family but actually has suffered a mental breakdown.

Welcome to another edition of Catching Up with the Classics where I talk about a comic book series or story that I have failed to read up to this point. This time I am taking at Walt Simonson’s run on Thor, specifically The Mighty Thor #337 – #355
My Background:
In this section, I review my experience with the material beforehand so you know where I am coming from as a reader. I’ll cover experience with the character, creators, as well as my understanding of the praise for the book before reading….
This is one of the first additions to this series where I have read some of this run before catching up with it fully. Due to some great finds in some dollar bins, I have read a couple random issues of this run. It was long before I knew who Walt Simonson was or the high regard for his work.
