It is very apparent that The Expendables 2 is circling a film shoot in China. Earlier this week there was word that Donnie Yen was offered a role in the action sequel and that it was looking for an unnamed Chinese distributor to co-produce on the condition that there is a local actor cast in the film to boost the box office. So rather than fly the actor out and give him housing, The Expendables could possibly shoot a majority of the scenes in China.
Director Simon West will start shooting for the sequel in Bulgaria in September.
Lionsgate has already set a U.S. release date of Aug. 17 for “Expendables 2.” Lionsgate used the same mid-August frame last year to launch the ensemble actioner, which grossed $102 million Stateside and another $170 million outside the United States.

The gimmick match is a staple of the wrestling business. When two guys can’t seem to settle a feud through regular matches that simply end in pinfall or submission, a gimmick match comes into play. At the basic end of the spectrum, these gimmicks include cage matches, “I Quit” matches and so on. But sometimes things get much, much…wackier. Arguably the king of the gimmick match is The Undertaker, whose “Deadman” persona has led to some of the most vicious and downright strange match stipulations in World Wrestling Entertainment history. Someone at WWE Home Video recognized this and was smart enough to release, for the first time, a three-disc collection titled The Undertaker’s Deadliest Matches. These include bouts like The Undertaker vs. Ultimate Warrior in a Body Bag Match, vs. Stone Cold Steven Austin in a Buried Alive Match and vs. Kane in an Inferno Match. That...

Yes, we got to see all of the Expendables in action in the film.s trailer, but what about seeing them all together at once? Check out this brand new banner from Lionsgate featuring the whole motley crew side-by-side. There.s Steven Austin, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis. Damn, that.s a lot of muscle. I would have given Li a stepstool, but otherwise, this banner is perfect. It.s mesmerizing enough to spot all of these names listed on one film.s roster, but to see the actual people standing together is almost overpowering. Even for a non-action enthusiast, it.s hard to not want more of The Expendables. Between the teaser poster, the stills, the trailer and now this banner, it.s looking more and more likely that the summer of 2010 will conclude with one heck...

Lionsgate made two release date announcements today via Twitter. I resisted the fad for months and now I’m getting news from tweets. Sigh.
(Shameless plug: follow my headlines and other shenanigans here.)
Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables has been shifted back four months. Instead of the April 23, 2010 date, it will smash summer theaters on August 20, 2010. Given the early interest for the action hero ensemble, this sounds like a better date for it. The weekend is currently unoccupied and is exactly a year after Tarantino’s similar Inglourious Basterds did extremely well at the box office.
The cast includes Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture, Eric Roberts, “Stone Cold” Steven Austin, and Dolph Lundgren.
After a bidding war, the studio also acquired distribution rights for Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass, a story about a teenage boy who wants to be a costumed hero. The...
