Podcast producer Glisten+ (a portmanteau of “great” and “listen”) launched Tuesday with two initial programs, part of a larger slate of scripted fare that it plans to roll out in the coming months.
The first original series include the young adult-geared “Can’t Relax,” about a relaxation app that secretly places murderous messages into the brains of its teen listeners. The supernatural thriller features Olivia Trujillo (“For All Mankind”), Andre Robinson (“Cheaper by the Dozen”) and Patrick Labyorteaux (“NCIS”).
The other show is fantasy adventure “League of Wonder,” which follows a Yorkshire terrier who teams up with a rag-tag group of animal heroes to rescue Dorothy Gale and a pair of magical slippers. The show stars Donovan Patton (“Blue’s Clues), Makgotso M (“The Woman King”), Eric Petersen (“Kevin Can F**k Himself”) and Robbie Jarvis (“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”).

[This story contains spoilers from the season one finale of Apple TV+’s High Desert.]
Patricia Arquette’s Apple TV+ comedy High Desert ended its first-season finale with a literal bang.
The crime-focused series — focusing on Peggy’s (Patricia Arquette) chaotic life as a recovering drug addict trying to find a new path as a private investigator — wrapped up its eight-episode season with a violent conclusion. Peggy and Guru Bob (Rupert Friend) found themselves kidnapped over a missing painting but had their lives miraculously spared after Leo Gattchi (Michael Masini) and Nick Gattchi (Carmine Giovinazzo) somehow killed each other. Plus, Denny (Matt Dillon) managed to avoid the wrath of Heather (Julia Rickert) after her father died from a stray bullet.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Arquette discusses the finale cliff-hanger involving Peggy awaiting the human cannon’s explosion, the star’s conversation with her real-life sister that changed the course of Bernadette Peters’ role as Peggy’s late mom, her hopes...

When my review of the final season of “Kevin Can F Himself” dropped in August I didn’t expect much response. The series has the small devoted following it has gathered in just two seasons, but it’s far from as rabid as other AMC network shows like “Better Call Saul.” But within days my email and social media inboxes were flooded with fans asking one question: Do Allison (Annie Murphy) and Patti (Mary Hollis Inboden) kiss?
This wasn’t asked with prurient interest, but instead with fans curious if the series cemented a romantic, queer relationship between the pair. And it’s certainly understandable considering the trajectory the two have been on since the show started. Back in Season 1, Patti and Allison were classic enemies at odds with each other. They seemingly had little in common, especially since Patti was part of the group of friends Allison’s horrible husband,...

We are closing in on the Kevin Can F**k Himself endgame.
AMC shared an exclusive first look at Kevin Can F**k Himself Season 2 Episode 6, which finds Allison (Annie Murphy) a bit worse for wear.
The clip picks up with her arriving at Patty's (Mary Hollis Inboden) in the aftermath of a car accident.
Patty is immediately blindsided to learn that Allison rushed away from the scene of the accident because she was worried about people asking questions.
Allison has made some strange decisions throughout the series, but now that she's got an injured shoulder, she may start to think these things through.
Patty is always on hand to help Allison. The clip ends before we see Patty helping her friend, but we can assume their bond will continue to form.

Exclusive: Sean Ryan Fox (Henry Danger) and Catherine Daddario (Oak) will lead the cast of the indie high school drama The Midway Point, marking the feature directorial debut of writer-director Lucca Vieira, which has wrapped production in Los Angeles. Others in the ensemble include 2019 Honorary Academy Award winner Wes Studi (The Last of the Mohicans), Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Thora Birch (Ghost World) and Julie Benz (Dexter).
The coming-of-age film said to be in the vein of Bo Burnham’s Eighth Grade follows the introverted and highly creative high school senior Jake (Fox) as he experiences his first love with Alice (Daddario), a brash and outgoing classmate. As the two open up to one another, the seemingly opposite pair find they have more in common than meets the eye. Studi plays Jake’s teacher, with Birch as his mother, and Benz as the school’s guidance counselor who helps him with his social anxieties.

Editor’s Note: Spoilers for the series finale are included.
The Annie Murphy-starring AMC series “Kevin Can F**k Himself” hinges on an interesting gimmick: What if a woman was the wife of a sitcom character, but in her moments alone she was just an average woman desperate to leave a dying, toxic marriage? Season 1 focused heavily on this conceit, with Allison McRoberts (Murphy) desperate to kill her bumbling, one-note sitcom stereotype husband Kevin (Eric Petersen) in order to free herself. But with the Season 1 finale, and the reveal that AMC was canceling the show after Season 2, a shift was felt.
Season 2 of “Kevin” understands, like its main character, there needs to be honesty. Where Allison spent last season contemplating killing herself, now she’s actively planning to kill herself (or at least faking it to start somewhere new). Compared to last season, this season’s Allison doesn’t want...

It's time for Annie Murphy to finish the job. The trailer for the second and final season of Kevin Can F**k Himself, premiering August 22 on AMC, features Allison (Murphy) pivoting to a new plan after she tried—and failed!—to kill husband Kevin (Eric Petersen) in season one. Allison realizes that if she really wants to leave Kevin in the dust, she's going to have to get creative. So, Allison again entrusts the help of neighbor Patty (Mary Hollis Inboden), who urges Allison, "Please don't say or do anything stupid." That's when we see Allison Googling the words "fake your own death" at a public library. We'd say that...

“Central Park,” the hit animated musical comedy series from Apple TV+, will return for its third season on Friday, September 9. Original cast member Kristen Bell is returning to star in Season 3 in the new role of Abby, Paige’s little sister.
In Season 1, Bell voiced Owen (Leslie Odom Jr.) and Paige’s (Kathryn Hahn) mixed raced daughter Molly, but she exited the series in 2020 because she believed it unjust for her to voice a biracial character.
“Casting a mixed race character w/a white actress undermines the specificity of the mixed race & Black American experience,” Bell’s statement read at the time.
From creator, writer and executive producer Loren Bouchard, Josh Gad and Nora Smith, the 13-episode third season of “Central Park” will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with three episodes. It will be followed by one episode weekly every Friday through November 18.

AMC and AMC+ are unveiling the trailer for Kevin Can F**k Himself‘s final season as Allison (Annie Murphy) sets out to finish what she started in the first look. Set to return Monday, August 22 with Season 2, Kevin Can F**k Himself sees Allison’s story pick up where it left off after the failed attempt to kill her self-centered and “lovable” cable-guy husband Kevin (Eric Petersen). Returning to Worcester, Massachusetts, the series pulls back the curtain on the secret life of a type of woman we grew up believing we knew: The prototypical sitcom wife. This is a pretty meta casting — Kevin Can Wait alum Erinn Hayes is set to guest star on the upcoming second and final season of AMC’s Kevin Can F**k Himself. Hayes will appear in an as-yet undisclosed role alongside series stars Annie Murphy, Mary Hollis Inboden, Eric Petersen and Alex Bonifer.
Hayes played James’ wife Donna on the first season of Kevin James’ CBS comedy series Kevin Can Wait. She was let go at the end of the season and replaced by James’ former King of Queens co-star Leah Remini. Hayes’ exit was met with backlash by fans, there was a Season 2 ratings decline for Kevin Can Wait, which was eventually canceled.
There has been speculation that Kevin Can F**k Himself was actually a takeoff on James’ sitcom Kevin Can Wait (the male leads are both named Kevin), although neither AMC nor Kevin Can F**k Himself...

Well, this sounds like perfect casting. Erinn Hayes, who played Kevin James’ wife, Donna, on the CBS comedy Kevin Can Wait, is set to guest star in Season 2 of the AMC series Kevin Can F**k Himself. Character details will be revealed at a later date, so we’ll have to wait to see what we find out before we see her onscreen. Robert Clark/Stalwart Productions/AMC Kevin Can F**k Himself follows Allison McRoberts (Annie Murphy), a prototypical sitcom wife who finally wakes up and revolts against her life. Hayes will be appearing alongside series stars Murphy, Mary Hollis Inboden, Eric Petersen, and Alex Bonifer in Season 2. When Kevin Can F**k Himself was first announced, it was impossible to not think about Kevin Can Wait, considering it had recently been canceled.

“Kevin Can F*** Himself” will end with its upcoming Season 2 at AMC, Variety has confirmed.
The news comes after the show was renewed for a second season in August. The dark comedy series stars “Schitt’s Creek” alum Annie Murphy as Allison McRoberts, a woman we all grew up believing we knew: the prototypical Sitcom Wife. She’s beautiful and can take a joke (though she’s usually the butt of them). And she’s married to a guy who must’ve won some sort of marriage lottery, because she looks the way she does and he’s… funny. The series alternates between traditional sitcom multi-cam footage but then switches up to single-cam as Allison struggles to break out of her unhappy existence.
Along with Murphy, the series also stars Mary Hollis Inboden, Eric Petersen, Alex Bonifer, Brian Howe, and Raymond Lee. It is filmed in and around Boston, Ma.

Annie Murphy has signed with CAA for representation, Variety has learned exclusively.
Murphy was previously represented by Gersh. She continues to be repped by Molly Mandel and Peter Kousakis at Mosaic, as well as Pam Winter at Gga.
Murphy is best known for her critically-acclaimed role on the Pop TV-CBC series “Schitt’s Creek.” She starred in all six seasons of the show in the role of Alexis Rose, the pampered socialite daughter of Johnny and Moira Rose. The series slowly but surely built up its audience over the years, leading to its incredible performance at the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2020. “Schitt’s Creek” swept all the major comedy awards, with Murphy winning the statuette for best supporting actress in a comedy series.

Annie Murphy starrer Kevin Can F**k Himself will be back for a second season. AMC has renewed the series from creator Valerie Armstrong and executive producers Rashida Jones and Will McCormack (Claws). The eight-episode second season is slated to premiere on AMC+ and AMC next year.
The renewal follows a strong first season. It was the most watched series on AMC+ and top acquisition driver for the premium streaming bundle across all major distribution platforms. Kevin was the biggest new series launch in the history of the service and was particularly popular with young, upscale and female-skewing viewers. The Annie Murphy-led “Kevin Can F**k Himself” has been renewed for a second season at AMC, the cable channel said Friday.
Season 1 of the part multi-cam, part single-cam series followed the story of Allison McRoberts (Murphy), a woman we all grew up believing we knew: the prototypical Sitcom Wife, per AMC’s description. She’s beautiful and can take a joke (though she’s usually the butt of them). And she’s married to a guy who must’ve won some sort of marriage lottery, because she looks the way she does and he’s… funny. The series broke television convention via volleying camera setups and allowed the audience to see what happened when the cameras followed Allison out of her husband’s domain and as she finally wakes up to — and revolts against — the injustices in her life.

It’s been 28 years since the start of ABC’s “NYPD Blue,” 22 years since the premiere of HBO’s “The Sopranos” and 13 years since the launch of AMC’s “Breaking Bad.” And if the ratings guides and critical buzz for current shows have taught us anything, it’s that people still love an antihero story. But they are also pleased that the genre has evolved beyond stories of white men doing bad things.

“Kevin Can F*** Himself,” which is concluding its first season on AMC this weekend and already streaming the finale on its streaming service, is a television show about television. As its title makes thuddingly clear, the series is intended to deconstruct a genre of sitcom that reached an apex with CBS’ “Kevin Can Wait,” on which lead Kevin James’ wife (played by Erinn Hayes) was so disposable as a comic element that the production literally disposed of her, killing her off between seasons.
Here, the beleaguered sitcom wife is the star: When this series’ Kevin (Eric Petersen) leaves the room, Allison (Annie Murphy) is able to see her situation clearly, with the laugh track and brilliant lighting that follows her goofus of a husband everywhere he goes absent.
As an idea, this has a great deal of inherent promise: The tools of genre, here, suggest a way to ask real questions about men,...

Eric Petersen is an actor. He’s an actor who has been around the block a few times, and he’s recognizable to many who enjoy his talents. Of course, he is a theater actor who has played some of the most famous roles in the business, so fans recognize his name. They don’t often recognize his face, though. It happens when you play characters like Shrek with so much makeup you become unrecognizable as a person. Eric Petersen might not have the face you recognize when you’re walking down the street – unless you are a diehard fan – but no

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the first two episodes of AMC’s “Kevin Can F**k Himself.”)
The first two episodes of AMC’s genre-bending comedy “Kevin Can F**k Himself” premiered Sunday, dropping viewers into the world of Allison McRoberts (“Schitt’s Creek” alum Annie Murphy), a Massachusetts wife who spends half her life trapped in a sitcom world where her husband Kevin (Eric Petersen) is not just the king of queens, but everything, and the other half in a dingy, dark tale of despair and dreams gone by.
But while Allison slips back and forth between the two vastly different universes, Kevin is only ever seen in the multi-cam portion of the show. AMC’s Kevin Can F**k Himself deserves a round of applause just for its title — an obvious play on CBS’ Kevin Can Wait, a two-season comedy best remembered for just how sloppily it handled Erinn Hayes’ expulsion as Kevin James’ significantly better half. “Kevin Can F Himself” is a clear-cut, incontestable, black-comic evisceration of toxic sitcoms. That much is clear within the first hour, if not the first 10 minutes. But the new show from creator Valerie Armstrong might also be something more — something harder and gnarlier that hasn’t fully revealed itself, yet is creeping around the edges of the first four episodes, waiting to assume the spotlight.
Starring recent Emmy-winner Annie Murphy (“Schitt’s Creek”) as Allison McRoberts, a liquor store clerk stuck in a rough marriage that looks uglier every second, “Kevin Can F Himself” wastes no time justifying its title. Kevin (Eric Petersen) is introduced playing beer pong in the living room, red cups placed perilously above a soon-to-be-stained rug. His neighbor Neil (Alex Bonifer) is his doomed opponent, while Kevin’s father, Pete (Brian Howe), and Neil’s roommate and sister, Patty (Mary Hollis Inboden), serve as wisecracking spectators. When...

Kevin Can F**k Himself is a brand new AMC drama starring Annie Murphy as Allison McRoberts, Eric Petersen as Kevin McRoberts, and Mary Hollis Inboden as Patty.
The series focuses on Allison, who breaks television convention escaping her confines to take the lead of her own life.
TV Fanatic had the chance to chat with the cast and crew ahead of the series premiere, and my first question was about how creator Valerie Armstrong got the idea for the show.
"It was the summer of 2017, and I was pretty angry," she shared with TV Fanatic.
"I was angry a lot and often and in some ways, it was very new, and in some ways, it felt like it had always been sort of deep inside of me."
"I just sort of tapped into it for the first time, but I was just sort of looking at things a little bit differently,...

Four years ago, CBS decided to “retool” its struggling Kevin James-led sitcom “Kevin Can Wait” for its upcoming second season. Lead actress Erinn Hayes, who played Kevin’s wife, would be written off the show and replaced by Leah Remini, officially reuniting the “King of Queens” duo on a weekly basis. The question then became one of what the series would do to write Donna off. Divorce? A long work retreat? Always doing something else, just off screen? Come “Kevin Can Wait’s” second season premiere, the series went with perhaps the worst possible creative choice: It killed her off, with barely a line of dialogue about it, then moved on to some forgettable punchline. If there was any doubt that this type of “Sitcom Wife” was considered expendable and essentially a prop, this moment settled things.
“Kevin Can Wait” was canceled after its second season.

At some point, you’ve probably made fun of one of those cheesy sitcoms about an oafish man with a beautiful, impossibly patient wife. That’s because those kinds of sitcoms have been around for our entire lives, going back practically to the start of television itself. Some of these shows have been great (The Honeymooners), some have been fine (Still Standing), and some have been According to Jim. They are, like cop shows, one of TV’s most renewable resources, enduring perhaps because viewers see more of themselves than...

“I had the idea of a sitcom wife leaving her brightly-lit, laugh track living room with her funny husband and walking through a swinging door to the kitchen,” “Kevin Can F Himself” creator Valerie Armstrong told IndieWire. As the character crosses into the kitchen the audience sees that her once flawless makeup is now caked, her kitchen covered in water stains. Elements that, in a sitcom, are taboo.
For Armstrong, much of the inspiration for the AMC series starring Annie Murphy came in the midst of a rage felt by women for decades. “I was listening to this podcast; it was June of 2017,” she said. “Two women comedians [were] talking about pilot season and how every year they go out for sitcoms and every year they’re told, ‘We need a really funny woman.’ Then they get the sides and it’s all lines like ‘What do you mean?'”
