The Karate Kid franchise has maintained its legacy over the years, and the original film is a cult classic among fans. The success of the first film led to three sequels The Karate Kid Part II, The Karate Kid Part III, and The Next Karate Kid. While the sequels did not receive as well as the original, the 2020 remake of the original starring Jackie Chan was loved by fans.
Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita in 1984’s The Karate Kid

Exclusive: In what might be the last big one in a flurry of pre-holiday material auctions, 20th Studios has bought the Kevin McMullin short story Bomb, an action thriller with franchise potential and a killer role for a young actor. Ridley Scott has attached to direct, with his Scott Free producing. McMullin will write the script.
This was a very competitive landscape with 10 bidders, including Apple, Netflix, Sony and Warner Brothers. Deal closed at low seven figures for the short story and the writing deal. Ultimately 20th prevailed when Scott attached to direct, and due to Scott Free’s relationship with McMullin.
Scott Free’s Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss are producing. Scott is coming off the hit Napoleon and is currently at work finishing Gladiator 2. This would come a ways down the line, since it has to be scripted and developed.

Only eight years have gone by since the release of director Anthony Diblasi’s well-received horror feature Last Shift – but the filmmaker has already decided to return to the concept for an “expanded reimagining” that recently wrapped production. Jessica Sula (Split) stars in the currently untitled reimagining, which is coming to us from Welcome Villain Films. This is the company’s first feature.
The Last Shift reimagining centers on
a rookie police officer (Sula) who willingly takes the last shift at a newly decommissioned police station in an attempt to uncover the mysterious connection between her father’s death and a vicious cult. Throughout the night, she finds herself barraged by terrifying supernatural events while unveiling the truth behind her family’s twisted past. Earlier this year, brand new production and distribution company Welcome Villain Films launched with “an expanded reimagining” of 2014’s Last Shift in the works. Today, Last Shift announced its lead and a tease of what to expect.
Split actress Jessica Sula (“Scream: The TV Series”) will star in director Anthony Diblasi’s reimagining of his 2014 chiller.
Sula will play “a rookie police officer (Sula) who willingly takes the last shift at a newly decommissioned police station. She hopes to uncover the mysterious connection between her father’s death and a vicious cult, but throughout the night she’s thwarted by terrifying supernatural events that connect to her family’s twisted past.”
The untitled reboot has wrapped production, with post-production expected to finish this fall for a planned 2023 release.
Diblasi co-wrote the upcoming film with Scott Poiley, and it sounds like it will be a much bigger, bloodier affair.

Asia McClain says there’s a very simple reason Adnan Syed couldn’t have killed his former high school girlfriend, Hae Lee, 20 years ago: “I know it’s physically impossible for people to be in two places at one time.”
Syed, the subject of Sarah Koenig’s hit podcast “Serial” and Amy Berg’s HBO docuseries “The Case Against Adnan Syed,” was convicted of killing Lee, his ex-girlfriend, in 1999. But McClain, who was never called to testify during the first trial, said she had a 20-minute conversation with Syed in their high school’s library at the same time prosecutors say Lee was murdered.
They said Syed had killed Lee because she had begun dating someone else, and he was angry and jealous.

Since the podcast “Serial” debuted in 2014, true-crime aficionados and fans of Adnan Syed’s case have debated whether he is guilty or innocent of murdering his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee — and with his conviction reinstated on Friday and the new docuseries “The Case of Adnan Syed” hitting HBO on Sunday, his public advocate and friend Rabia Chaudry is laying out her theory on what really happened.
“I don’t have all the evidence, but from what I have and from what we know, I think Hae left the school intending to meet somebody she knew and she ended up being hurt and killed,” Chaudry said. “There were no signs of struggle, so I think she was knocked out before she was strangled. Her body was not moved to the park for about 10 to 12 hours, if not later, so for 10 hours, she was somewhere else.

Maryland’s Court of Appeals has reinstated “Serial” podcast subject Adnan Syed’s conviction and will not grant him a new trial. The ruling comes two days before HBO will debut its new docuseries titled “The Case Against Adnan Syed.”
According to the ruling obtained by TheWrap, the Maryland Court of Appeals stated that Syed received “deficient performance” by his defense attorney, Cristina Gutierrez, but that the evidence still pointed towards Syed’s guilt.
The ruling stated that there was not “a significant or substantial possibility that the jury would have reached a different verdict had his trial counsel presented the alibi witness.” The court reinstated the conviction by a 4-3 vote.

The Serial podcast made Adnan Syed famous —but now the formerly convicted killer is getting his own HBO documentary. Adnan, who is currently awaiting a retrial for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, will be featured in the four-hour special which will look at the events leading up to Hae's disapperance up until the present as Syed prepares for his new trial. Directed by Amy Berg, The Case Against Adnan Syed will examine the muder — just like the Serial podcast did in 2015 — and feature commentary from almost everyone involved in the original investigation. People became emotionally invested in Adnan Syed's case in 2014, when it was featured on Season 1 of the Serial podcast. He was a young man sentenced to life in prison for killing his high school girlfriend Hae Min Lee, but the podcast raised serious doubts for listeners as to whether or not he actually committed this heinous crime. Now, he might get the chance to prove his innocence once and for all in a new trial. Adnan has been in prison for 18 years, and many people feel unfairly so. He has requested a new trial, and on March 29 he got one step closer to that becoming a reality. The Maryland Court of Special Appeals upheld a lower court's order for a new trial on all of Adnan's charges. His lawyers think that he could soon be a free man. "If we go to trial, we will win that trial," Adnan's lawyer Justin Brown told CNN.

I have a radical fan-made film for you to watch today called Team BroForce, which is based on a video game franchise that I had never heard of until I saw this video was sent to us. I’ve never played the game, but this comedic short is awesomely entertaining and action-packed.
A world where the Bros of Broforce are called into action to defeat the enemies of America and its corporations, and to liberate lands not fortunate enough to be America...
We follow Rambro, BA Broracus, Bro in Black and MacBrover as they decimate terrorists in the name of 'Merica!
The video comes to us from producer and assistant director Justin Brown of Forgehouse Films, and the film was directed by Jason Forge. Enjoy!
