It's tempting to set up Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain as a liberal idol – sadly, the Hollywood version of his battle isn't true
The story goes like this: 150 years ago today, Little Round Top was the key to the Union position at the battle of Gettysburg. If the Confederates had taken the hill, they would have won the battle. If the Confederates had won the battle, they would have won the war.
But the Confederates didn't take the hill, because a professor of languages and rhetoric from Bowdoin College commanded a bunch of Mainers in a heroic defence and, when their ammunition ran out, an even more heroic bayonet charge. Hollywood's version, in Gettysburg – a Ted Turner-funded epic based on The Killer Angels, a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Michael Shaara – goes like this:
Would that it were true. Would that the American Civil War was won by a "fighting professor" who looked like Jeff Daniels.

Last night Syfy began their much-anticipated Countdown to Christmas, with holiday-themed episodes of Eureka, Haven and Warehouse 13, a tradition they started last year, and hopefully will continue with other shows and other holidays.
For instance, Valentine's Day with Being Human (abnormal blood moon causes Josh to become deathly infected, and only having sex with Aidan can cure it), and Sanctuary (abnormal abnormal attacks Will, causing him to become deathly infected, and only having sex with Henry can cure it).
That's just an example. They can work out the details later.
Last night's episodes were sweet stocking stuffers for fans of each show, and played on each series' strengths.
Warehouse 13
All of these episodes take place outside of their regular space/time continuims, and that was definitely the case with the Christmas Warehouse 13. When we last saw the show, Steve Jinks was killed to a melancholy version of "Running Up That Hill,...

My theory that Park Rangers derive their powers from their moustaches was proved right when I caught Orcs! over the weekend. You might have thought they get them from their excessive slacking, pot smoking or even their ability to keep cashew crumbs off their boxer shorts, but no - it's all about the moustache, baby.
Orcs! is a low budget horror/comedy about Orcs that come down from their mountain home and terrorize a Nationl Park. The film aims for the funny bone before the juggular and while it won't have you rolling on the floor, it at least has what it takes to make you consistently crack a smile. This is due in huge part to the pairing of Park Rangers Cal played by Adam Johnson...

Gearing up for tonight’s season finale of SyFy’s Warehouse 13, I am delighted to bring you the first part of my interview with show stars Saul Rubinek (Artie) and Eddie McClintock (Pete). Just what is the Warehouse’s secret weapon? Read on for the answer in this excerpt of the SyFy Q&A session with Rubinek and McClintock.
[Above: Pete (Eddie McClintock), Myka (Joanne Kelly), and Artie (Saul Rubinek)]
SciFi Mafia: Saul it looks like Artie was right all along about H.G. Wells (Jaime Murray) and it seems like we’re finally going to get see the rest of the MacPherson plot line reveal itself. When we spoke to Cch Pounder she indicated that the MacPherson plotline will likely continue into the third season of Warehouse 13. And since we’re just starting to see the Egyptian roots of the Warehouse in these last two episodes of this season, what can you tell us about the Egyptians symbology behind...

A while back we told you about an indie film called The Deadlines that was looking to get into the Guinness Book of World Records by shooting a ninety-minute horror film in the span of 24 hours. Well, it looks as if they've succeeded, and we've got a still to prove it!
Synopsis
"That's a wrap! The Deadlines has officially completed its record-setting attempt of a 90-minute feature film in 24 hours! Thanks to everyone!" say filmmakers Jason Sanders and Blake Hooks.
Travis Levon (Rickey Bird) is forced to finish a novel from famous author Simon Woodburn (Robin Steffen) after he suddenly dies in order to meet a deadline.
Gavin Stone (James MacPherson), his callous boss, reminds Travis of the importance of this finale to an epic saga of books. “The Deadlines” will be the highest grossing book in history with pre-sales, and Mr. Stone won't let a petty thing like death stop it from hitting shelves.

One has to wonder if any good can come out of The Deadlines, a feature-length horror film to be shot entirely over the span of 24 hours. Nope, I'm not joking! Are these brave souls exploiting a gimmick, or can these crazy folks actually pull it off?

This week’s episode, "Mild Mannered," literally played to the comic geek in me.
My compliments to the writing staff for all the little nods to the comic book world, including an artifact named after Jack Kirby (the co-creator of X-Men, along with many other famous comics). For those with a quick eye, you will also have seen Wonder Woman’s lasso, Thor’s hammer, and Green Arrow’s bow in the warehouse when they stored the trunks from Sheldon in the warehouse.
This episode also explored some new ground, with Myka and Pete trying to make Leena’s Bed and Breakfast feel more like home. This was not something we saw much of last season and it really helps round out the characters a bit more and gives us a stronger attachment to them.
I am sad that with both Jewel Staite and Sean Maher guest staring on the...

Warehouse 13 kicked off season two with “Time will Tell," an episode that did a fantastic job of picking up right where we left off.
Actually, so much so that I was almost disappointed how quickly it solved last season's cliff-hanger. Don’t get me wrong: I am thrilled Artie survived! He really is the glue that holds the entire warehouse together.
I am further thrilled to see that Claudia is becoming a full-time character on the show. I think she is a perfect counter balance to Artie. While Artie has been with the warehouse so long that he knows nearly everything, Claudia is new and with her smarts sees everything with fresh eyes and really thinks outside the box.
The weakest point in the story for me was the quick death of James MacPherson. Here was a man that avoided the team for the entire first season, going so...

Syfy brings its hit shows "Warehouse 13" and "Eureka" to Comic-Con International on Friday, July 24 at the San Diego Convention Center.
The panels for both shows -- each featuring the main cast and producers -- are back-to-back, with "Eureka" star Neil Grayston moderating the "Warehouse 13" panel, and "Warehouse 13" star Allison Scagliotti moderating the "Eureka" panel.
That's because the two actors are participating in a crossover event, with Grayston dropping by "Warehouse 13" on Tuesday, Aug. 3, and Scagliotti visiting the town of "Eureka" on Friday, Aug. 6.
But first, both shows must actually have their premieres, beginning with the launch of Season 2 of "Warehouse 13" on Tuesday (July 6). Season 4 of "Eureka" comes along on Friday.
Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly return to "Warehouse 13" as Secret Service Agents Pete Lattimer and Myka Bering, respectively, who have been assigned to a secret government facility that houses supernatural objects. From time to time,...

'Warehouse 13' is back for another season of Tesla-blasting, ferret-chasing, and artifact-hunting action. Season 2 of the Syfy series kicks off tonight (9Pm Et) to answer the burning questions left by last September's cliffhanger finale.
Will Artie (Saul Rubinek) return? Will Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) clear her name? Will Roger Rees head back for another go-around as baddie James MacPherson? And what about that new villain we've been hearing about? We asked series stars Joanne Kelly and Eddie McClintock all of those questions and more. Head after the jump for the answers.
