Another year, another rousing pop festival from the North East radio giants, as the Newcastle Metro Arena played host to some of the biggest names in the industry for the annual Metro Radio Live gig.
As with last year’s event, the bill mixed performances from extremely high profile stars – like Olly Murs, Labrinth and McFly, with currently trending acts like Little Mix and DJ Fresh and relative new-comers like Angel, Connor Maynard, Amelia Lily and Misha B. It was a crowd friendly set-up, rounded out by the likes of Leona Lewis, Lawson, Scouting For Girls and Stooshe, and the mix of talent was undoubtedly why the gig sold out.
Each was given between ten and fifteen minutes, with a fairly heavy emphasis on the show-casing of new songs, as well as some classics mixed in for good measure, and the occasionally deafening response from the crowd,...

'Emmerdale' bosses want the show to have an annual music festival. A special event featuring Scouting For Girls and The Proclaimers was aired as part of the ITV soap's 40th anniversary this week, and producers are now keen to work on one every year in what could be an 'Emmerdale' equivalent of Glastonbury festival. Jason Merrells, who plays Home Farm boss Declan Macey in the soap, said: ''It's kind of 'Emmerdale's answer to Glastonbury. There was a danger that that would be a ridiculous assumption, but when we arrived on set it looked amazing. ''It felt like a big festival. All the...

Scouting for Girls believe that The X Factor has "had its day". Frontman Roy Stride praised The Voice UK, explaining that there is more to being a musician than the glamour shown on The X Factor. "We've written songs for One Direction and Alexandra Burke but we reckon The X Factor has had its day. There's some good talent on the TV but it just doesn't create real artists," he told the Daily Star. "It's basically an audition, the same as West End musicals, just with more glitz and glamour. The best music comes from people singing music which means something to them. "You have to buy into an (more)...

British rockers Scouting For Girls have a special James Bond clause written into their record contract that allows their drummer to drop out of the band should he land the coveted role of the secret agent.
The trio signed with Epic Uk, a division of Sony Bmg, in February 2007 - but before signing on the dotted line, percussionist Pete Ellard made sure he would be cleared of his band commitments should he be cast in the superspy franchise.
Frontman Roy Stride explains, "It's actually written into our record contract with Sony that Pete will be released from the deal if he gets offered the part of 007.
"He insisted on adding the Bond clause, but we all agreed that we wouldn't sign unless Sony adhered to it. They could no believe it. They started laughing when we told them and said to Pete that it was crazy as he would never be the next action star, but Pete was adamant it should be added."...
