In the past few years, DC Comics have partnered with General Mills to offer exclusive comics packaged inside some of the most popular cereal boxes on the market. Well, the time has once again come for us to hunt down more books featuring the Justice League at our local grocer.
Before we get to the limited edition comics themselves, let’s discuss what separates this year’s offerings from those previous: The fact that known creators are putting heroic spins on cereal mascots. Don’t expect drastic overhauls as people still need to recognize the fictitious spokesmen, but I’d still say they’re certainly memorable.
Here’s what you can expect to find greeting you as you stroll down the breakfast aisle: Honey Nut Cheerios’ BuzzBee as Batman, drawn by Dave Johnson; Multi Grain Cheerios featuring Wonder Woman,...

DC Comics has released four great variant covers that feature art inspired by the movie posters for Warner Bros. films. This is all part of a bigger plan from the comic publisher in which every month they will have a theme for variant covers that will be created and released. The month of March in 2015 will focus on the movies of WB, and the four covers you see here are the first of many to come. They were based on the movies 300, Harry Potter, The Fugitive, and Super Fly.

DC Comics will be releasing a wave of one-shot steampunk variant covers for many of their current New 52 titles in February, featuring some impressive art from artists such as Dave Johnson, Klaus Janson, Howard Chaykin and more. At first we we’re hoping that DC was cooking up a line-wide Elseworlds-style event (eg, Gotham by Gaslight), but that doesn’t appear to be the case after all. We’re now hoping this may be a test from the publisher to see how many fans would like to see more of these characters placed in a Victorian-era setting. There certainly seems to be a growing number of steampunk-inspired cosplayers at comic book conventions across the country – perhaps the publisher has taken notice.
You can check out the full list of all the titles getting the steampunk treatment along with previews of the covers below.

It’s that time again… okay, it’s a little past that normal time, thanks to the Mix March Madness wrapup, but here are the preview materials for DC Comics releases for July 2012.
What’s on tap this month? More of the Before Watchmen books, with the debut of Ozymandias from Len Wein and Jae Lee, the conclusion of the Court of Owls storyline and crossover in all the Bat-books, and the debut of the done-in-one book, National Comics, featuring the New 52 Debut (coming right at you) of Eternity.
And in the white elephant of desire category, there’s the $300 statue showing the climactic scene from The Dark Knight Returns.
Once more, into the breach? Banzai!
As always, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

We hold in our hands the covers for DC Comics this February. As a child of four can plainly see, these comics have been hermetically sealed in a Cgc 9.9 slab, and they’ve been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar under a giant stack of returned copies of Holy Terror since noon today.
What do we have worth noting? The new look of Darkseid, and we’re far enough into the new 52 books that it’s time for Batman to start crossing over in all of them. Plus Mara Jade, the red-haired assassin who fell in love with her blond-haired man she was sent to kill– oh, I’m sorry, that’s from Star Wars. This is Mera in a jade outfit. Our mistake.
Shall we? Surely!
As usual, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.
