Tom Lipinski is an American actor, producer, writer, and director known for his numerous recurring roles in mainstream television series. In the course of his multifaceted career, Lipinski has recurred on shows such as Billions, Suits, Blindspot, and Snowpiercer. Before his screen debut in 2009’s Dash, Lipinski explored the world of experimental theater, performing at The Theatre of the Two-Headed Calf in Rhode Island. He also faced some obstacles before his talent gained recognition. If the acting bug didn’t bite him, Tom Lipinski would probably be a medical professional as his father wanted. Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 3
It’s a credit to the creative team on Snowpiercer that they always figure out a way to make train versus train incidents exciting. When Big Alice first showed up, it was a thrill and a surprise. Now, with Snowpiercer and Big Alice involved in a game of cat and mouse, it’s still surprising. There might only be so many places where trains could come into direct confrontation while on the same piece of track, but Snowpiercer usually finds a way, and the results tend to be very entertaining.
It helps that the battle of forces is so disproportionate, and so well established in the first two episodes of the season. Wilford (Sean Bean) has all the men he needs to repel any straight-ahead boarding action; there’s not an even battle like when the Tailies took over the train from Melanie.

Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 1
One of the strongest features of Snowpiercer is the show’s ability to figure out ways to create claustrophobia. Granted, that’s easy on a train; it’s not exactly the sort of environment in which you can spread out and social distance from your neighbors. On the last train, however, that situation is even more dire, especially if you’re in third class or stuck in the tail. The people on board Snowpiercer toil away elbow to elbow with their fellows, making clothes, breaking up ice, cooking and growing food, even entertaining in the club car. There’s not a space to be alone, unless you’re the leader of the anti-Wilford resistance, and that means you’re alone in a room the size and temperature of a meat locker.

Of the many new characters introduced on Snowpiercer Season 2, Wilford's right-hand is the most enigmatic and subtly terrifying advisor, known only as Sykes.
Portrayed by veteran actress Chelsea Harris, Sykes is an unknown quantity, efficiently executing Wilford's plans without ever giving anything away.
And while we haven't seen her in a fight (yet!), there is no doubt in our mind that Sykes has the skills to execute more than just plans.
Thankfully, Harris is as warm and friendly in real life as Sykes is cool and intimidating on screen.
Speaking with TV Fanatic by phone, Harris had only just touched down in Vancouver, BC, Canada, to begin filming Snowpiercer Season 3 and was still looking at a week and a half of quarantine before she could start on set.
It's a complicated transition from Los Angeles due to Covid-19 protocols nowadays, but Harris was positive about how smoothly it went.

There’s always someone to fear on Snowpiercer. Till establishes it well during her cold opening narration. Death seems like it should be a familiar friend for the passengers on board, but when humanity’s population is down into four digits at best, it’s not surprising that every loss hits harder than the impossible to comprehend figure of seven billion. Even when that seven billion contains family and friends, it’s not the same as when one of the train’s most crucial departments gets decimated in a brutal surprise attack perpetrated by Wilford knows who.

Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you haven’t watched Wednesday’s return episode of Blindspot.
Well, that was a doozy.
Blindspot returned for the remainder of the second season on Wednesday night, with an episode that had everything you’d want from the action drama: an explosive death, another internal leak, an ultimatum that may change the team dynamic, and an episode-ending abduction.
Jane (Jaimie Alexander), Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and company finally gained an upper hand against Shepherd (Michelle Hurd) and Sandstorm, after learning that Shepherd implanted a bug in Patterson’s (Ashley Johnson) tooth in order for her to gain significant intel. After spreading misinformation to lure Shepherd’s minions into a trap, Patterson came face to face with her ex and mole, Borden (Ukweli Roach), only to witness Borden sacrifice himself by blowing up the cabin.

*there are spoilers here (see the film first). Director/writer: Chris Sparling. Cast: James Wolk, Caitlin FitzGerald, Tom Lipinski. Mercy is a horror and thriller from Chris Sparling. Notable for writing 2010's Buried, Sparling has created a very intriguing film, here. The film appears as a letting-go of a family member. But, it proves to be more complex, especially when a group of masked characters are introduced. Two groups of characters are motivated by two very different reasons; neither motivation is very honourable, however. Playing out like a mystery initially, events take a darker turn, at the film's mid-point. It is here where a point-of-view is changed, as well. Grace's (Constance Barron) relationship with a cult-like religious sect, also creates some of the film's mystery. Finally, murderers conflict with these money-counters; everyone loses. However, viewers of Mercy will win with this latest Netflix outing. The film's story plays out straight-forwardly,...

It’s practically impossible to talk about what’s happening in Chris Sparling‘s latest thriller, Mercy, without spoiling it. The writer-director knows, and splits his film into three pieces as a result: the first third completely shrouded in mystery, the next a replay from alternative perspectives, and the last the truth of the pursuers’ identities and the lies their victims have been spinning from the start. The only other Sparling film I’ve seen is his most popular one, Buried, which he wrote with Rodrigo Cortés directing, but the similarities in deflection and confusion are obvious. Whereas it focused solely on one character trapped without the ability to fully comprehend what’s happening, Mercy places its viewer in the coffin. We don’t know who’s out there and we definitely cannot trust the family in peril.

Independent cinema is the clear focus at La Film Fest. This doesn’t mean they’re completely clear of the sort of pre-packaged, studio-lite fare that tends to climb awards-season ladders into our multiplexes – this year’s festival featured films starring Chris Messina, Idris Elba, Alfred Molina, Gemma Arterton, Gael Garcia Bernal, Gillian Jacobs, and Topher Grace, plus The Conjuring 2, an outright studio film. And even those films without such attachments are not entirely free from the influence, following familiar beats and a sort of glossy presentation in an attempt to “fit in” with the big boys. The extent to which these films could truly be called “independent” is thus debatable, and lends a sort of discomfort to aligning them with truly adventurous voices. That disparity is most evident in four thrillers that played at the festival, which range from practically begging to be let in to actively refusing any sense of acceptance.

Richard Dreyfuss was able to see some redemption for infamous fraud mastermind Bernie Madoff – but he doesn't give that benefit of the doubt to all his characters.
During his appearance on Good Morning America Wednesday, Dreyfuss was quick to qualify that his eponymous character in the new ABC miniseries is "the second most despicable man [in modern history] because I've already played Dick Cheney."
That zing aside, Dreyfuss gave insights on his process of channeling Madoff – and the surprising empathy he gained for the imprisoned fraudster, now 77, who orchestrated the largest Ponzi scheme ever by an individual and is currently serving a 150-year prison sentence.

Hot off the heels of distributing their first feature film in select theaters and online (that would be Cary Fukunaga's "Beasts of No Nation"), Netflix doesn't plan on slowing down any time soon. The streaming service announced today they have acquired two more films for online releases in 2016. The first of these titles, "Mercy," comes from writer Chris Sparling, who also wrote and worked on projects such as "Buried," "Atm" and Gus Van Sant's "The Sea of Trees." The film is described as a home invasion thriller starring James Wolk and Tom Lipinski in line with Sparling's other chamber thrillers, which usually feature a minimal amount of characters confined to a particular setting. The second deal is for the anticipated noir-tinged comedy "Girlfriend's Day," co-written and starring Bob Odenkirk, who plays an unlucky greeting card writer who must fight to prove his innocence when he's framed for murder....

Paolo Sorrentino is heading to Cannes with his newest film Youth (La giovinezza) and it certainly is getting its fair share of marketing along the way thanks in large part to a May 21 release date in Italy as a second trailer has arrived today. The film has yet to be picked up for domestic release, but I expect all that to change after its Cannes premiere. The film centers on Fred and Mick, two old friends on vacation in an elegant hotel at the foot of the Alps. Fred (Michael Caine), a composer and conductor, is now retired. Mick (Paul Dano), a film director, is still working. They look with curiosity and tenderness on their children's confused lives, Mick's enthusiastic young writers, and the other hotel guests. While Mick scrambles to finish the screenplay for what he imagines will be his last important film, Fred has no intention of resuming his musical career.

You will find Paolo Sorrentino's newest film Youth referred to as many things over the last 12 months or so, prior to this first trailer for the film being released I thought it was going to be called The Early Years, you can also see it referred to as In the Future and, if you're Italian, as La giovinezza, but it appears Youth is how it will be referred to in English and it's the second likely Cannes selection we're getting our first look at today. I've already listed my top ten most anticipated blockbusters of the new year and now I'll take a look at the rest of the field as I've done my best to whittle things down to an even twenty films. So before you get in a huff that your favorite franchises aren't listed, just remember you can view all my anticipated blockbusters right here, I simply didn't know how to write the headline other than to just say these were my most anticipated movies without any further distinction. That said, I think I have a nice rounded list for you here. Obviously several from the major studios, but also a few overseas entries to spice things up. Plenty of Tom Hardy and Jake Gyllenhaal and a couple starring Rachel Weisz along with several of my favorite directors coming with new films for the new year. If you're wondering where films such...

Jason Reitman is unstoppable. In his first three features in the director’s chair, he didn’t take a step out of place. And returning once more to the London Film Festival this month with his fourth, Labor Day, he has truly outdone himself, bringing yet another spectacular drama to the big screen.
After watching it at its UK premiere last night, I literally sat in my chair for a full quarter of an hour or more, until the rest of the cinema was empty, just to fully appreciate and digest what I’d just seen – and that is something I’ve never done before.
The film had its debut at Telluride and then Tiff a few weeks back, launching its first clip from the movie out in Toronto. And whilst we wait for that first trailer to land online, Paramount has released the UK poster, with Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin front and centre.

Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers: This year's top per-theater average by far Written and directed by Harmony Korine, and starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine, Spring Breakers pulled in an estimated $270,000 at three locations (one in Los Angeles, two in New York City) this weekend (March 15-17) as per studio estimates found on the web site Box Office Mojo. The (very) low-budget crime comedy-drama averaged a hihgly impressive $90,000 per site. That's this year's best per-theater average so far by a wide margin. Before we tackle this week's exercise in believability-stretching, can anyone tell me why the "Previously, on The Following..." bit at the beginning of the show is always Exactly the same? Can you imagine if The Walking Dead started every single episode with a square-one reminder that there was a zombie plague that took over the earth? The only other show I can think of that does this at the beginning of every episode is Arrow, which seems to delight in reminding us that once upon a time Stephen Amell was stuck on an island with nothing but a very bad wig to keep him alive. At this point, if you don't know that Joe Carroll killed some chicks and escaped from jail, you should probably be watching something else.
