The Utah teen who authorities say was shot in the back of the head, robbed and left for dead in a dry canal bed two months ago — allegedly at the hands of two older boys — has been released from the hospital.
“I told my dad that I am tougher than a bullet,” Deserae Turner said at a news conference on Thursday in Salt Lake City, according to Ksl-tv. “It is still with me today.”

Did you miss the superb Sega Mega Drive/Genesis book the first time around? Then here's your chance to get yourself a copy...
Ah, so many great games. Streets Of Rage. Shadow Warrior. Castle Of Illusion. That one with the blue hedgehog in it. Yes, there were lots of reasons to love Sega's Mega Drive (or Genesis, if you're over there in America), from those swoopy controllers to the likeably chunky cartridges. And if you have fond memories of the 16-bit era and what was arguably Sega's golden age of console gaming, then you may have heard of Sega Mega Drive/Genesis: Collected Works.

Two weeks ago, Lynne Spalding, 57, had been losing weight and appeared weak. So on Sept. 19, the mother of two was admitted into the San Francisco General Hospital about 10 blocks from her home. Spalding was treated for an infection, given medication and checked by nurses regularly. Then, two days later, her bed was empty. She had simply disappeared. "One would think a hospital bed is one of the safest places you could be," Spalding family spokesman David Perry tells People. "Lynne is an upbeat, lively person and her family's at a complete loss over her disappearance." Perry says the hospital so...

Last night Sony took the wraps off of the PlayStation 4, but the two hour long event didn't answer many questions gamers have been asking over the last few weeks. While issues like whether or not used games would be allowed, the rumored always online-connection, and backwards compatibility weren't covered explicitly during the event, interviews conducted afterwards has shed light on these matters. Come on in to check them out.
It's nice to finally see that the PS4 is real and no longer lurking the realm of shadows and rumors. Even so, we didn't get all the answers we wanted, nor even a look at the actual system itself. After the event ended, many gamers found themselves asking a great deal of questions they hoped would have been answered. Fortunately interviews conducted with Sony execs afterwords shed light on these issues, and if you were wondering, we've got them all rounded...

New York (AP) — Sony showed off what the PlayStation 4 can do, but not what it will look like.
The Japanese electronics giant talked about its upcoming game console for the first time and said it will go on sale this holiday season.
But Sony didn't reveal the device itself. Presenters played games that were projected on screens in a converted opera house, but the PlayStations themselves were hidden backstage throughout Wednesday evening's two-hour event.
"I don't know that the box is going to be something that's going to have a dramatic impact on people's feelings about the game. It will be a color and a size fairly comparable to previous consoles," said Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, the U.S.-based arm of the PlayStation business.
"There's a big story to tell here, and it's going to take between now and the holiday season to get all the details out there,...

Sony spends $380 billion on game streaming. So how long until we see Kratos on the PC?
Details about the deal and wild speculation on my part about what this could mean for Sony getting into cloud gaming after the jump.
The deal puts Sony in charge of Gaikai, the online game streaming service (site), which was the brainchild of Interplay and Atari exec David Perry. Started back in 2008, the service has been making overtures about seeking a buyer for months, according to a Gamasutra report.
Instead of using a set top device or any kind of plugin or application, Gaikai is more of a browser-based streaming service. Similar to OnLive, which offers both a hardware and software solution, Gaikai's big pitch is that you can play their library of games from publishers like Thq and EA on the go.
So when can we expect to start seeing Sony games out in the cloud?...

Confirming rumors that date back to the weeks leading up to E3 2012, Sony announced today that they intend acquire 100% of the equity in the cloud gaming company Gaikai Inc. for approximately $380 million before the end of August 2012.
The deal, which still awaits regulatory approval, would have Sony take full control over Gaikai’s video game streaming technology and network of datacenters. Sony did not reveal exactly what they are planning to do with the acquired assets, however, prior rumors suggested that they could use it to stream “next-gen” games to the PS3 or as a way of providing backwards compatibility to their current and future systems.
“By combining Gaikai’s resources including its technological strength and engineering talent with Sce’s extensive game platform knowledge and experience, Sce will provide users with unparalleled cloud entertainment experiences,” said Andrew House, President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment “Sce will deliver...

A true game changer
It’s hard some days to think about where games are going, but it’s harder to think how they will be delivered to you. The only option used to be going down to the local department store or specialty retailer to buy that game you wanted so much, oh my how things have changed.
We can buy games on our phones, our computers, our tablets, and even right through our consoles, try to imagine that concept 10 years ago, it’s hard to.
Digital has been the trend, it’s convenient to most, and some might even say they could never go back to physical media. Well by now most of you should know my stance on physical media and for those who don’t, I love it, but that’s beside the point.
While Digital may be convenient, it still needs to be managed. You want your pictures,...

Want to play "World of Warcraft" through any browser on the go, even on your iPad? Well, a new service from the folks at Gaikai.com aims to make that possible. The company's CEO, video game industry veteran David Perry, claims to have seen such technology in action and posted a photo as evidence. If Gaikai does he what he claims, PC gamers may have wonderful world of travel gaming waiting in the not so distant future.
"'World of Warcraft' is possible on iPad," Perry wrote on Twitter yesterday. He posted a shot of this spectacle on DPerry.com and added an extended tease, expressing his excitement.
"Was walking through the office, saw this, thought you'd like to see," he noted. "Soon I'll be able to play 'Wow' with my Cornflakes!"
He and his company hope the service will make other games streamable as well.
