The laid-back, plot challenged non-violent western gets a boost in this folksy comedy about two aging cowboys with less sense than the horses they tame. Glenn Ford and Henry Fonda star together for the first time, leaving behind their older images… they’re too tender-hearted for their own good. If the sex comedy wasn’t quite so dated, Burt Kennedy’s picture might be a classic.

Less procedure and more kiss kiss, bang bang. That’s the big difference between Seasons 1 and 2 of ABC’s romantic romp The Catch from Shondaland. When we last left off, Peter Krause’s con man Benjamin Jones professed his true love to the P.I. fiance that he duped, Mireille Enos’ Alice Vaughan — and he was a man of his word, turning himself into the feds so that she wouldn’t get arrested. The sizzle reel that played today at TCA showed Benjamin being sprung from prison and…...

Didn't anyone else feel like going on a treasure hunt while watching Rosewood Season 2 Episode 4?
"Boatopsy & Booty" was filled with a lot of pirate references and ended with an interesting twist, which Rosewood is always good for doing.
For starters, Hornstock's daughter Sophie was visiting the department to shadow her dad. Sophie's currently in the police academy and wanted to get the feel of being in the police force.
Wait, you didn't tell her about the whole demotion thing?

Hornstock still feels ashamed about being demoted from Captain to Detective. He wanted to put on this facade for Sophie so she wouldn't be disappointed in her father.
Ironically, Slade went on with the charade for a little bit, to help Hornstock save face. I'm surprised Slade wanted to help Hornstock put on a front with Sophie.

T.R. Knight is going home.
Well, sort of.
The former Grey's Anatomy actor will be snuggling back into the Shondaland fold when he takes a recurring role on The Catch Season 2.
The Catch is executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers and showrunner Allan Heinberg,
The Catch revolves around Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos), a strong-willed forensics accountant and the man who did her wrong, Benjamin Jones (Peter Krause).
Of course, there is no word on who Knight will be playing on the series, but we've become accustomed to that with Shondaland productions.
With news of Knight returning home, it's hard to really care what part he's playing, right?
“Shonda, Betsy and I are beyond excited to have T.R. back in the Shondaland family — and on “The Catch” in a role the was created and written especially for him,” said Heinberg.
“This has been a thrilling secret to keep!,” Rhimes said in a statement.

When The Catch joins ABC's Tgit line-up tonight, the latest slick produce from the ShondaLand production line will certainly bare more than a few similarities to those that came before it. After all, if it ain't broke, why fix it? We say this with love, of course. We are absolute Shonda Rhimes disciples, gleefully surrendering our Thursday nights to her production company's creations. But we can recognize a few tried-and-true tropes when we see them. And the latest series, a sexy cat-and-mouse caper starring Mireille Enos and Peter Krause, is chock full of 'em. The Catch centers on Enos' Alice Vaughn, a private investigator in Los Angeles at the top of her game, and Krause's Benjamin Jones, her...

Hot off the heels of Parenthood, Peter Krause is right back in the thick of things, this time with Mireille Enos, who is herself taking on rather a different role from her time on The Killing.
Selling itself as being “From the producers of Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder,” because they want you to think Shonda Rhimes, without actually saying it, The Catch hopes to capitalize on the Thursday night schedule, but is nevertheless a very different creature… largely just by virtue of being a pretty good show.
The show’s trailer gives you a fair idea of what you have coming your way, and more or less “spoils” the pilot, but it doesn’t give you much to go on when it comes to the week-by-week continuation of the story, and that may be one of the show’s best moves.

Shonda Rhimes’ glitzy Shondaland production company is slowly taking over ABC, and the network probably couldn’t be happier. After deciding to wedge three of its killer appointment television juggernauts into one night and slap on a hashtag, the producer has yet to allow a new series admission into its twisted theme park (besides a “special preview” for The Family, but that hardly counts). As it stands, Shondaland is currently guarded over by the mile-high drop of Scandal, a somewhat amusing, always disorienting house of mirrors in How To Get Away With Murder, and the repetitive merry-go-round everyone’s getting a little sick of, also known as Grey’s Anatomy.
Taking over for that aforementioned house of mirrors in its down-season is The Catch, a show that Rhimes herself didn’t create (which is apt, she also didn’t create Htgawm; Peter Nowalk...

But there's another AFI, The Australian Film Institute, that has been around for a long time and is in no such danger of being a one-off. This year, they're all about the amazing family crime drama Animal Kingdom which they awarded with a record breaking 18 nominations. Sure, the film is in danger of being way overhyped for people who are coming to it late (which is just about everyone given the sorry state of international distribution for dramas of virtually any kind) but for those who can slough off the "omg" raves, I guarantee you'll think it at least an insinuating and well executed crime drama.

Product placement traditionally has been shunned in Europe. Auteurs fear the taint of association with such crass commercialism, and on the small screen in-program advertising had been banned outright in most territories.
That changed in April with new EU regulations allowing product placement on European television. Producers and channels across the continent are now looking to cash in.
The reaction has been immediate. On the German game show "Beat Your Host," entertainer Stefan Raab kicked a soccer ball-sized M&M at his opponent. Alfa Romeo slipped one of its cars not-so-discreetly into an episode of TF1's "Les Touques," and Clear Channel placed virtual, changeable giant banners on the France 3 hit soap "Plus Belle la Vie."
Some of Europe's biggest firms, from Finnish cell-phone giant Nokia and Swedish furniture group Ikea to German carmaker BMW, now are slipping products into local sitcoms, series and shows.

Cologne, Germany -- For once, European television is keeping up with the times.
Apple's iPad has been on sale in Europe less than two months now and only in selected territories but Euro networks are showing geek-like glee embracing the new tablet technology, launching i-capable apps and mobile services.
Two continental giants -- Rtl in Germany and France's Canal Plus -- this week launched apps providing live streaming of their top-rated network broadcasts. In Britain, the BBC said fully 10% of all requests made by portable devices for its popular iPlayer catch-up service last month came from iPad users. In the Netherlands, where iPads go on sale for the first time Friday, commercial network Sbs and pubweb Nos already have Apple-ready services a-waiting. Even struggling commercial net Five is jumping on the iPad wagon, announcing plans to launch a catch-up TV app this fall to coincide with the relaunch of its on-demand service Demand Five.

16.8 million Spaniards -- 91% of the TV audience -- caught the highlight of the match, when Andres Iniesta rocketed in the winning goal in extra time giving Spain its first-ever World Cup win. On average 15.6 million people in Spain, 86% of the audience, watched on the three channels broadcasting the match, an all-time average record, according to ratings agency Barlovento Comunicacion.
91% of Dutch viewers tuned into public broadcaster Nos to watch as their Orange-mantled team failed in their third World Cup final. An average of 8.5 million Dutch caught the match, with millions more watching in pubs and public squares across the country.

Berlin -- Spain's one-nil win over Germany in Wednesday's World Cup semi-final drew record ratings in both territories and the broadcast was a solid performer across Europe.
An average 14.4 million Spaniards -- a jaw-dropping 81% of the viewing public -- tuned in to watch their squad advance to Sunday's final match against Holland, according to figures from TV ratings firm Barlovento Communicacion.
Audience numbers peaked in the closing minutes of the game, with 17.2 million viewers -- an 88.1% market share -- glued to their sets. Spain booked its spot in the final with a goal in the 73rd minute headed in by Carles Puyol.
Of the three Spanish channels broadcasting the contest, free-to-air Telecinco attracted 13.2 million people for a share of 77.3%, while pay channels Canal + and Canal + Liga, racked up audiences of 295,000 (1.7%) and 423,000 (2.5%), respectively.
German fans had little reason to cheer but public broadcaster Ard had to be smiling about the 31.1 million viewers who tuned in,...

Cologne, Germany -- European broadcasters carrying the soccer World Cup continue to rack up near-record ratings as the tournament heads into its final week.
The three European squads still in the running -- Germany, Spain and the Netherlands -- proved a sure bet for local networks in their quarterfinal matches.
Germany's Zdf scored an all-time-record 89.2% market share with its broadcast of the German team's 4-0 drubbing of Argentina on Saturday. 26 million viewers tuned in for the afternoon match, a figure that does not include fans who saw the game on pay TV outlet Sky Deutschland (which does not publish rating results) and the millions more who crowed outdoor viewing sites across the country. A Zdf survey taken at the beginning of the world cup found some 12 million Germans watch World Cup games outside their homes.
But ratings in neighboring Holland put Zdf's performance to shame. 11.2 million Dutch viewers (in a...
