This week’s theme: as much as I adore and endorse indie comics and their creators, sometimes I just want a spandexed dude punching monsters in the face.
In ‘Stark’ contrast to the other Marvel Now! book relaunched this week (see our review of Iron Man #1), Deadpool #1 has… zombies. Not just any zombies, but presidential zombies, drawn by an artist known specifically for his zombies (Tony Moore, of Walking Dead fame). The issue almost purports to be about politics on the first page before descending into sheep-slaughtering Satanic rituals and—once more, for good measure—zombies. In short: it’s Deadpool. You either love it or you don’t.
While Deadpool is gutting Godzilla-creatures and zombies in New York, Spider-Man is busy fighting off fire-breathing veliceraptors in the Savage Land. But wait! He is saved from certain death by Devil Dinosaur, aka a giant red T-rex, and his ape-like Neanderthal sidekick,...

2010 Eisner Awards, Brian Bendis On 'Kick-Ass,' And Making Money In Comics In Today's Twitter Report
The 2010 Eisner Award nominations proved no less controversial than years past in the blogosphere and Twittersphere alike. While Geoff Johns revealed how he plans to celebrate his "Blackest Night" nod, both Tony Moore and Gail Simone named two titles they believe got overlooked.
Brian Michael Bendis, meanwhile, did not overlook "Kick-Ass" and had some rave reviews for Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl. Check out what you can look forward to after the jump where I have also condensed an extended point-counterpoint between Neal Adams and Mike Choi over how much money comic book artists should expect to make.
That last one's worth a trip to the Twitter mother-ship for full context, but the links posted are below in the Twitter Report for April 9th, 2010.
@Brianmbendis hit girl delivers completely. the old people in the audience were gasping. its nice to hear people gasp.

One week ago, if you would have asked me who the number one "Marmaduke" fan in comics is, I would never have guessed that Tony Moore was the answer. However, the caps lock on his keyboard could barely contain his reaction to news of the movie.
Meanwhile, it was a great day for artwork in the Twitter Report feed. Rob Liefeld posted a Batman sketch, an artist you should know named Yildiray Cinar posted a eye-popping Cloak and Dagger piece, and Rick Remender posted some concept work for a "Fear Agent" video game. Check 'em all out out after the jump along with an assessment of Buzz Aldrin's work on "Dancing With the Stars" and wisdom from Brian Michael Bendis that should be read before seeing "Clash of the Titans."
It's all in the Twitter Report for March 31st, 2010.
