A story of toxic masculinity in regional Australia has undoubted relevance in the #MeToo era, but the journey of Julius Telmer’s Greenfield is one that well predates the movement.
Shot eight years ago in the Wa wheatbelt town of Merredin, the drama/thriller stars Ethan Tomas stars as James, a young man returning to the titular town to win back his former girlfriend, Kelly.
Tensions soon explode when Kelly’s brother Michael tells James a volatile secret, which then goes on to cast a dark shadow over the small town when it is eventually revealed.
The film is produced by Daniel Tenni, Mikkel Skov, and Robert Livings and stars Liam Graham, and Marthe Snorresdotter Rovik.
Greenfield had its theatrical premiere at The Backlot Perth this week via Halo Films, with the hybrid venue also doubling as a post-production studio for the project via relationships with Wa’s Soundbyte studio and Sandbox Productions.

Theatrical distribution has been given a vote of confidence by Western Australia’s Halo Films, which continues to provide a path towards cinematic screenings for productions within the state.
Launched last September, the boutique distributor is designed to support Wa filmmakers by releasing films and documentaries that don’t have an existing distribution deal or theatrical release in place.
Managing director Ian Hale also operates the Back Lot Perth – a purpose-built private screening room that became home to Halo’s inaugural release, Steven J. Mihaljevich’s The Xrossing, last year and will screen Julius Telmer’s Greenfield next month.
The venue has also doubled as a post-production studio that has helped put the finishing touches on both films via relationships with Wa’s Soundbyte studio and Sandbox Productions.
Having spent nearly three decades in the industry, during which he has worked at Paramount Pictures, Transmission Films, Universal, and Dreamworks, Hale...

It's been 5 years since Mats Stenberg's Norwegian thriller 'Cold Prey 2' (Aka 'Fritt vilt II') came about and what's more surprising is the fact that it still hasn't landed on DVD in the Us. Of course this would be a pointless piece if we weren't bringing you news that all that is about to change. Shout! Factory will be responsible for finally unleashing this little kick ass sequel onto DVD stateside from 23rd April. The follow-up to the Roar Uthaug helmed horror from 2006, 'Cold Prey 2' picks up where the chilling action left off. Ingrid Bolso Berdal (below) stars alongside Marthe Snorresdotter Rovik, Kim Wifladt, Fridtjov Saheim, Johanna Morck and Mats Eldoen. Check the DVD artwork below....

I gave Cold Prey 2 (aka Fritt Vilt II) a quiet nod in my 10 Examples Of a Pulse In The Modern Slasher article after fully acknowledging it's predecessor in my primary list. But last night I opted to give Cold Prey 2 another go-round. So last night, Heineken free and of sound mind I popped CP2 in the DVD player and prepped for a nice refresher.
Well, nice refresher isn't even a sufficient description. It's more like a slap in the face followed by a guttural voice echoing throughout my living room 'where were you the first time you watched this flick? No stranger to Heineken that night eh?!'
The picture is absolutely brilliant! Jannicke (Ingrid Bolse Berdal) is found freezing - pick axe in hand - in the Norwegian mountains. She's taken to a local hospital where she tells authorities of the horrific incidents that occurred (in Cold Prey), and...
