Steve Carell is ready for a vacation after lending his dulcet tones to Illumination’s Despicable Me 4 and John Krasinski’s upcoming family comedy If. Thankfully, Netflix has a plane ticket with Carell’s name on it, so long as he’s willing to join the cast of The Four Seasons, a forthcoming comedy series led by Tina Fey.
The Four Seasons, a retread of the 1981 Universal movie of the same name, is a co-creation between Fey, her 30 Rock co-star Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield. Details about Carell’s character remain a mystery, though the cast list for Alan Alda’s 1981 comedy could provide some clues. In 1981’s The Four Seasons, three couples vacation together every season. After one couple divorces, feelings of betrayal and more spawn criticisms of one another, but the things that keep them together are stronger than those that might tear them apart. For the 10-year anniversary of the Tina Fey comedy that solidified her as a comedy force outside of Saturday Night Live, she returns to write and reprise her role in the musical remake of Mean Girls. Paramount has released the new trailer, and from the looks of things — in high school, the more things change, the more they stay the same. This new incarnation features a cast that includes Angourie Rice as Cady Heron, Auli’i Cravalho as Janis ‘Imi’ike, Reneé Rapp as Regina George, Jaquel Spivey as Damian Hubbard, Avantika as Karen Shetty, Bebe Wood as Gretchen Wieners, Christopher Briney as Aaron Samuels, Jenna Fischer as Ms. Heron, Busy Philipps as Mrs. George, Ashley Park as Madame Park, Jon Hamm as Coach Carr, Tina Fey as Ms. Norbury and Tim Meadows also returns as Mr. Duvall.

The first trailer for the movie adaptation of the “Mean Girls” musical has officially arrived, so get in loser, we’re going back to Northshore.
Much like the teaser that ran ahead of the “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” concert film, the footage not only introduces the new Plastics, Cady, Janis and more, but also contains plenty of moments from the original movie — and even an easter egg for the stage production.
We first meet Angourie Rice’s Cady, who is of course struggling in her new school. But, as we know, she quickly befriends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), who protect her from Regina George (Renee Rapp) — who apparently causes lights to flicker when she enters.
We also get a look at the performance of “Jingle Bell Rock” — though apparently, much more, uh, explicit, this time — along with Tina Fey’s Ms. Norbury and Tim Meadows’ Mr.

The time has come for a new hero for a new world — or so it’s teased in the trailer for Netflix’s new series Mulligan.
Netflix has debuted the first trailer for the new adult animated comedy. The series, from co-creators Robert Carlock and Sam Means and executive producer Tina Fey, centers on a band of survivors who have to start society over from scratch after Earth is attacked by aliens.
“It’s an opportunity to learn from humanity’s past mistakes and get things right this time. Or make the same mistakes all over again. Probably the second one,” Netflix teases of the series.
In the trailer, it is teased that there are now 1,132 people left on Earth and Matty Mulligan (Nat Faxon) is appointed the new president to help turn things around.
“I should’ve stayed awake in school more,” Mulligan says as he sits in the Oval Office,...

“Girls5eva” has found a new home in Netflix for Season 3 after the musical comedy series previously streamed on Peacock. Netflix has also acquired co-exclusive global streaming rights to the first two seasons.
From Emmy-winning creator-showrunner Meredith Scardino and executive producers Tina Fey, Jeff Richmond and Robert Carlock (Bevel Gears), the popular series stars Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps and Paula Pell as a one-hit wonder girl group from the turn of the millennium who reunite to give their music dreams another go. They may be grown women balancing spouses, kids, jobs, debt, aging parents and shoulder pain, but can‘t they also be Girls5eva?

“Girls5eva” has been renewed for Season 3, but the comedy series will be moving to Netflix from Peacock for its next outing.
Variety has learned that Netflix will be the exclusive streaming home for Season 3, while sharing Seasons 1 and 2 with Peacock. The show, which follows the surviving members of a one-hit wonder girls group from the 1990s as they reunite in the present, aired its second season finale on Peacock beginning in June.
The move marks a homecoming of sorts for “Girls5eva” creator Meredith Scardino and executive producers Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, and Jeff Richmond. Netflix previously aired the series “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” which was co-created by Fey and Carlock, with Scardino serving as a writer and eventually co-executive producer and Richmond serving as composer and executive producer.
“We are so happy to bring ‘Girls5eva’ to Netflix,” said Tracey Pakosta, Netflix’s vice president of comedy series. “Just like the show,...

The band has a new home: Girls5eva is moving to Netflix from rival streamer Peacock for its third season.
The move is a shock as it’s one of the first original series to move between rival streaming services but Deadline hears that the Tina Fey-produced series was actually canceled at Peacock before Netflix swooped in to save it.
Although the comedy series, which stars Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps and Paula Pell, has been well received critically and was arguably the closest thing to an awards contender that the streamer had, Girls5eva wasn’t one of its most-watched shows and didn’t bring in the same audiences that the likes of dramas Bel Air and Dr. Death did.
We hear that the streamer was forced to make the tough decision to prioritize other shows and cancel it after its second season finished in June.
