DC Comics superhero character ‘Hawkgirl’ is played by actress Isabela Merced in the upcoming live-action feature “Superman”:

“The metal is psycho-reactive, responding to its bearer's thoughts and in its base form has a number of electromagnetic/gravitational properties.

Aldis Hodge’s bucket list has gotten much shorter in recent weeks.
For nearly half of his 33-year career, Hodge has been trying to land a superhero role, and it finally came by way of Carter “Hawkman” Hall in Black Adam, the reigning number-one movie in the world. The Dwayne Johnson-led blockbuster also marked the return of Henry Cavill’s Superman, which Hodge discovered shortly before the film’s premiere. But that wasn’t the only surprise as Hodge’s introductory scene was reshot during additional photography, and it included a reunion of sorts.
“So when we first shot the movie, [Viola Davis] wasn’t in it at all; we all had completely different scenes. But when we did reshoots, I saw her name on the script, and I said, ‘Oh shit!’ Hodge tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I worked with Viola when...

To borrow a phrase from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "it's all connected." But this idea isn't exclusively owned by the House of Ideas. You can be the destroyer of this world…or you can be its Savior
Black Adam is finally out, and if you haven’t seen it, do. While the first thing that separates the character from a lot of the other superhero movies in the genre, is that, for starters, he’s not a hero. He’s an antihero in its near purest form. Dwayne Johnson, master of shameless self promotion has been touting the greatness of this film for a while now, and this time, beyond a shadow of a doubt, he’s right. And what Black Adam believes is right comes from a place of ultimate struggle… and sacrifice.

"Black Adam" features the live-action debut of its titular anti-hero, but there are arguably even more exciting characters at play in the film. The Justice Society of America and its band of superheroes form part of the physical (and philosophical) threat to Black Adam's mission to free his home country. Especially Hawkman, played by Aldis Hodge, who has a bone to pick with the murky morals of the anti-hero. However, fighting Dwayne Johnson on the big screen was not the most daring aspect of playing Hawkman for Hodge, shockingly enough.
Not only does he sport a comic-accurate costume, but Hodge encapsulates everything you'd expect from the winged superhero. From his effortless flight to his commanding presence, only a better film around Hawkman is left on the table. Of course, playing the DC Comics superhero had its disadvantages, including having to conquer a very real fear that I think many can relate to.

When "Black Adam" finally hits theaters this week, it won't just introduce audiences to the antihero Teth-Adam (Dwayne Johnson), but to a whole cadre of heroes who could end up playing a major part in the future of the Dceu. The team is called the Justice Society of America, and trailers for the movie have already given us a great first look at their impressive, assorted powers.
Among them is Hawkman, the leader of the Jsa who can be spotted body-slamming Black Adam into a building in clips from the movie. Hawkman, whose real name is Carter Hall, sports a pair of gorgeous and intimidating gold and red wings and a golden helmet with its own wing-like pattern. But the actor that plays him, "One Night in Miami" and "The Invisible Man" star Aldis Hodge, apparently had to make do with imaginary wings while on set.

The character of Hawkman is one that, despite being a staple of DC Comics since 1940, has surprisingly been underutilized in live-action media. Sure, he's appeared on "Smallville" and "Legends of Tomorrow," but compared to other mainstay DC heroes, the archeologist known as Carter Hall hasn't had as many appearances outside of comics and animation.
However, that might change soon, as Hawkman is finally being introduced to the DC Extended Universe in "Black Adam." Portrayed by "One Night in Miami" star Aldis Hodge, this version of the character is one that has been a superhero for a while, even leading the Justice Society of America in its fight for the greater good. With that experience under his belt, it would make sense for Hawkman to fight like he's a seasoned pro. In a recent interview with /Film's Jenna Busch, Hodge discussed his approach to crafting his character's fighting style alongside fight coordinator Chris Brewster.

Dwayne Johnson, going back to his WWE days, always know how to make an entrance, and Saturday morning was no exception as the action star, fully clad as DC superhero Black Adam, was elevated into Comic-Con’s Hall H as the speakers shook the room to its core.
Adorn around attendees’ necks were Black Adam lightning lights which flicked on when he arrived.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow didn’t start off being an off-the-wall ensemble, but as the various actors’ comedic talents lightened the dire circumstances, the producers pivoted and leaned into the absurdity. As a result, it became one of the freshest concepts on the CW, super-heroic action without as much angst (or shadow). When it worked, it was very entertaining but that came sporadically, oftentimes getting silly when they needed more restraint.
Still, the lovable ever-changing band of heroes has endured through seven seasons and unlike many shows, ended on a high note. All thirteen episodes of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Seventh and Final Season can be enjoyed on the Blu-ray box set from Warner Home Entertainment.
When last we left our stalwart misfits, a Waverider popped into the sky and destroyed the Waverider they were using. Now stranded in 1925, they have to adapt and find a way home.

The DC Extended Universe just got a little more extended with the casting of actor Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. A major talent already having a big couple of years between several film and television projects, Hodge is now set to next star opposite Dwayne Johnson in Black Adam, a superhero film connected to 2019’s Shazam.
The news, which was announced late Friday evening, further underlines that the Johnson-led Black Adam will be reaching back into the annals of early comic book lore, with Hawkman, alias Carter Hall, being a character who first appeared in 1940 via Flash Comics #1. Additionally, Hawkman will be a member of the Justice Society of America, a multi-generational superhero organization that existed on the page long before either the Justice League or the Avengers.

“Leverage” star Aldis Hodge is in talks to play the role of Hawkman opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in “Black Adam,” DC and New Line’s highly anticipated superhero movie, according to an individual with knowledge of the project.
Hawkman is the name of several DC Comics heroes, but the best known versions are the original incarnation created by Gardner Fox and Dennis Neville in 1940, and a rebooted version created by Gardner Fox and Joe Kubert in 1961, and later revamped by Timothy Truman.
The 1940 character was the alter-ego of archaeologist Carter Hall, who discovers he’s the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian prince cursed and murdered by an evil priest. The 1961 version reimagined him as Katar Hol, an alien from the planet Thanagar whose costume is the uniform worn by his world’s police force, the “Wingmen.” An individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap “Black Adam” will feature Carter Hall,...

A blast from the DC Comics past is finally getting the big screen treatment, as The Justice Society of America will be featured in New Line’s upcoming “Black Adam,” star Dwayne Johnson said Thursday.
During the press junket Thursday for “Jumanji: The Next Level,” Johnson told Screenrant that the film “will introduce you to that, the world to Jsa.”
Created by editor Sheldon Mayer and writer Gardner Fox in 1940 for All-Star Comics, the Justice Society of America is notable not only as the first superhero team in comic book history but, because it featured characters owned by both National Comics and All-Star Comics publisher All-American Publications, also as the first crossover between rival comic book companies.

Last night’s episode of Supergirl took a leaf out of Marvel’s book and ended with a post-credits tease that set up what’s to come.
As you no doubt know, next Sunday sees the start of the annual Arrowverse crossover, titled “Elseworlds,” which will feature our heroes caught up in another multi-dimensional adventure, and this one looks to be darker – and more exciting – than any we’ve previously seen.
The “Elseworlds” tease we mentioned above opened on a title card revealing that the unfolding scene took place on Earth-90. We pan across a battlefield strewn with the corpses of familiar heroes, anti-heroes and villains. The only one left alive is John Wesley Shipp’s Flash, from the 1990s TV show. He comes face to face with The Monitor (Lamonica Garrett) who holds some kind of powerful book which emits a dangerous-looking energy. As he opens it and unleashes whatever’s inside,...

Season 4 of Legends counts six female series regulars — including new addition Ramona Young (Z Nation) as Mona Wu — versus four fellas. (Filling out the ladies’ ranks are Caity Lotz, Tala Ashe, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Jes Macallan and Courtney Ford, the latter two of which were promoted to series regular over the summer. And let’s not forget that Amy Pemberton voices Gideon.

Back in Gotham City, a bloody mountain has formed where it shouldn’t have. When the League investigate this anomaly,...

As time goes by, we’re slowly but surely gaining more insight into DC’s upcoming event book, Dark Nights: Metal, which is set to reunite the fan favorite creative team of writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo. The latest helping of knowledge comes by way of DC All Access, in which the most recent installment of the web series sees co-host Whitney Moore chatting with Snyder himself.
Over the course of the conversation, the superstar scribe says the usual things such as they’re “taking risks” and “exploring new territory,” but my ears perked when he spoke of an invasion by a “Dark Multiverse” that brings together the Justice League. Quite frankly, this caused me to think that there’s a dark matter multiverse counter to the DC Multiverse we’ve come to be familiar with and then I remembered that, hey, this series is kicking off the...

In addition to the super violent Midnighter and Apollo that’s been keeping us on the edge our seats, another intriguing miniseries DC has had to offer of late is that of Death of Hawkman.
Despite its ominous title, it’s arguable that this book has placed more focus on Adam Strange. That’s somewhat understandable as this was originally solicited as a co-headlining situation and the “Death of” angle may have been added to boost sales. Regardless of that, this has proved to be an amusing, yet compelling buddy tale involving two heroes representing planets that couldn’t hate each other more.

Comic Book Reviews: DC Comics Round Up Week 11-02-2016
After a brief hiatus from reviewing the great books of DC Comics I hop back and see what the current state of various series are. Officially moved from “I kind of care” to “I don’t care at all” are Cyborg, Justice League, Blue Beetle, Doom Patrol, Catwoman: Election Night and probably a few others soon. So the review list gets shorter! I am casually keeping up with these titles so if anyone has questions or thoughts feel free to sound off in the comments below and I’m more than happy to engage in discussion!

Legends Of Tomorrow ended its first season with a big ol’ hint of things to come. With spoilers, here’s what it meant...
This article contains spoilers for Legends Of Tomorrow’s season 1 finale, as well as revealing Zoom from The Flash’s secret identity.
Vandal Savage is dead; murdered at three different points in time. (Even some serious ashes-tampering by Malcolm Merlyn surely couldn’t undo that... could it?) But the story of Rip Hunter and The Waverider crew - now sans Kendra and Carter - is far from finished.
Legends Of Tomorrow will return for a second season as part of The CW’s fall 2016-2017 line up. As such, season 1 ended with a standard-issue tease of things to come. Shortly after Dominic Purcell’s Mick mentioned being hungry for chicken and the gang began wandering away, another Waverider crash landed from the sky in a big puff of smoke.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is the latest superhero action show apart of the CW’s line-up, featuring a team of time traveling misfits from both Arrow and The Flash franchises. Led by the Time Master Rip Hunter, the team features Hawkman & Hawkgirl, Firestorm, The Atom, White Canary, Captain Cold, and Heatwave, as they travel throughout time trying to keep the villain Vandal Savage from ever fulfilling world domination. Before their WonderCon panel on Sunday, one of the executive producers and a few of the actors took questions at a press junket, and Famous Monsters was in attendance.
Marc Guggenheim (Executive Producer)
When asked if we’ll see the team travel to the future Central City to witness the Flashpoint event, he said not this season but hinted at a return to Central City later in the season. The subject of Earth-2 was brought up, with the question then being...

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? The cast includes Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein / Firestorm, Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer / Atom, Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Caity Lotz as Sara Lance / White Canary, Franz Drameh as Jefferson Jackson / Firestorm, Ciara Renée as Chay-Ara / Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl, Falk Hentschel as Khufu / Carter Hall / Hawkma, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory / Heat Wave and Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart / Captain Cold. Quentin Crump recurrs as the villanous Vandal Savage. The CW just recently renewed the...

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has done a great job of managing multiple story arcs along with the issues with time traveling. With “Star City 2046” this was the first time the team travelled into the future along with individually being tested of what they really want out of this trip. The episode throws the team right into the action being confronted by a new Green Arrow and Deathstroke in a Star City that has been completely destroyed. On top of that Sara and Rip find a broken/armless Oliver Queen straight reminiscent of “The Dark Knight Returns”. This time Oliver is done fighting as the Green Arrow since he has seen all of his friends killed. The side-story of Leonard and Mick’s quick rise in the gang world is really starting to show the cracks in their once strong partnership. It was great to see the main focus break...

With our group of Legends still stuck in 1975, things are the worst that they’ve been for the group since their debut three episodes ago.
Not only is Vandal Savage still on the loose, but Carter Hall has been killed at Savage’s hand, Kendra Saunders is on death’s door, and there’s just a little bit of tension between uber-brains Ray Palmer and Martin Stein. The cohesive team who were meant to save all of humanity, this certainly is not.
In this latest outing, Blood Ties, we find several different missions for our fragmented team; Rip Hunter and Sara Lance go directly after Savage; Stein and The Atom put their brains together to try and save Kendra; and Captain Cold, Heat Wave and Jax take a little trip of their own that just so happens to involve stealing a priceless emerald.

The second episode of Legends of Tomorrow ended with the team in their darkest hour. Carter Hall was dead, Vandal Savage was victorious and Kendra Saunders was in serious medical condition. In episode 3, things don't get much better. While the ending was mostly happy, albeit bittersweet, more complications arose in this time traveling adventure. At least the messy problems in plot and narrative that were present in episode 2 were gone. The team suffered some setback in episode 3, but Legends of Tomorrow got itself back on track.

The second episode ever of Legends of Tomorrow ended in a big twist. Hawkman, otherwise known as Carter Hall, also known as Prince Khufu, died once again at the hands of Vandal Savage. It was a surprising death for a character that was heavily featured in the promotional material for the show and was big part of the first season's central mythology. Surprising in this case also means excellent. Killing Hawkman off was the smartest thing that Legends of Tomorrow did in its two part series premiere.

Legends of Tomorrow concluded its two-part pilot last night, and it featured a surprising character death that not only catalyzed the team, but opened the door for some very interesting storytelling. Spoiler warning: This article contains speculation on a major plot point from the Legends of Tomorrow episode "Pilot Part 2". Last night's episode of Legends of Tomorrow showed what happens when the team tries to solve their problems on their own, without functioning as a group. Doctor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) charged into the arms deal and let slip he was from the future. Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) tried to be cleverly break into Vandal Savage's (Casper Crump) property, and invariably set of an alarm. At one point Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) even told Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) — the Time Master — to step back and get out of the way. This kind of team jostling is typical when characters aren't used to working together,...

Entertainment Weekly reports that Arrow actor Stephen Amell will guest star on an episode of DC's Legends Pf Tomorrow. Amell will reprise his role of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, but from the future in the year 2046 where he will reportedly be missing his left arm and be sporting his infamous goatee from the comics. His appearance is said to resemble the way Oliver Queen looked in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.
On the excitement of including the Green Arrow from the future, Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim said, “Every once and a while, we do an episode where the 10-year-old me has to pinch himself,” Guggenheim says.
“We’re not only introducing our version of Connor Hawke to our universe, we’re going to meet the 2046 version of Oliver Queen, and Stephen Amell is going to be reprising his role from Arrow. As an added bonus to comic-book fans,...

“Legends of Tomorrow” brings together a disparate group of heroes and villains to form a reluctant team, but two members already have some complicated history between them. Carter Hall (Falk Hentschel) and Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renee) are destined to be together – and destined to die at the hands of their greatest foe, Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). As first introduced in the “Arrow”-“The Flash” crossovers, Carter and Kendra have had plenty of practice at dying and being reincarnated, but it’s going to take more than a few episodes to dig deep into their hundreds of years of history.

The CW continues to expand its comics adaptation slate with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, a spinoff of both Arrow and The Flash (the latter of which is a spinoff of the former) that takes a hodgepodge of the supporting characters from each show and throws them together in an eight-person team tasked with saving the world. If you haven’t seen a minute of Arrow or The Flash, you’re probably already high-tailing it away from that last sentence, but that’s okay. Legends of Tomorrow is many crazy, odd, awesome things – most of them all in the same scene – but one thing it’s proudly not is accessible.

A new synopsis has been released for the upcoming series premiere of Legends of Tomorrow, and it gives us a much better idea of what to expect from the highly anticipated Arrow/The Flash spinoff.
For starters, it reveals just how far back in time Rip Hunter has travelled, and we now know for sure that he’s from the same era as Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash. Could Legends of Tomorrow explain how he makes his return? That’s certainly possible, but for now, here are all the latest details on the series:
In the year 2166, the immortal villain Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) is on the verge of his final victory – total chaos and the utter destruction of humanity. As the world crumbles, the Time Master Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) takes matters into his own hands; he travels 150 years into the past to assemble a carefully selected team of heroes and rogues to stop him.

Last year, the Flash and Arrow crossover episodes gave two very different superheroes a taste of the other's world. Oliver saw sunshine and sipped coffee in Central City. Barry witnessed the darkness and gravity of Star(ling) City. Those crossovers were successful because of the commitment to each show's unique tone. This year, the crossovers add the CW's upcoming DC's Legends of Tomorrow to the mix. But more isn't always merrier."Legends of Yesterday" is such a hodgepodge of plots, characters, and themes that all three shows blend together into one generic superhero series. Nothing feels particularly memorable, except of course, for that moment. Before diving into this week's episode, let's rundown the Legends of Tomorrow backstory from last night's Flash: Central City barrista Kendra Saunders discovers that she is Hawkgirl, who not only has wings but is continuously reincarnated with her eternal love, Hawkman (a.k.a. Carter Hall). In each lifetime,...
