- Actor
Giovanni Bommarito was born in Pontiac Michigan and raised by his
single mother and grandmother in the Avondale school system under the
name John Shelton and John Jewell. Giovanni found his father K.
Bommarito at the age of 25. As a poor kid from the Detroit area he
worked many jobs until he stumbled onto his beloved career choices of
surfing, sports/athletic instruction/coach, music, culinary art,
stadium and Broadway touring, journalism, and finally the film
industry. With over 50 films deep and a pocketful of literature you can
still find Giovanni spreading his passion for life, love, and music
worldwide through interactions, board sports, books, music and film.
Giovanni has lived in many countries through easy and 3rd world events
as well as being imprisoned for a crime he did not commit having to
fight for his rights from the "inside". Today most of his projects
start from the historic birthplace of jazz in the Treme, or an
inspiring sailboat in Lake Pontchartrain both located in New Orleans
working their way worldwide. In a short thirty some years Giovanni
Bommarito has worked with some of the greatest musicians, technicians,
actors, artist, scientist, and cinema photographers of our time while
fallowing an old motto "A smart person learns from his mistakes. A
genius learns from other peoples mistakes." Yet living in his own
writings with his long repeated quote "Trust is the foundation of love
and friendship. Communication is the foundation of love." While true
love is still his favorite topic, Giovanni was raised with strong
family values as well as brought up in the old school show business
ways and codes. With non-profits and beyond Giovanni has worked hard to
preserve the traditions, sports, arts and protocols that made Giovanni
and those closest to him, the people they are today. New works by
Giovanni Bommarito will be delta blues recordings with a rock-a-billy
twist, and writings in an inspirational book called "How to be the poor
kid and still live "the dream" currently in the editing process in
2013.
