On Tuesday, lawmakers in Louisiana voted 64-29 to reclassify drugs used in abortion as controlled dangerous substances. It’s a move staunchly protested by hundreds of physicians in the state, who fear passing this bill will interfere with patient care given how commonly one of the pills, misoprostol, is used to save lives in pregnancy care.
“Misoprostol is such a literal life-saver,” New Orleans Ob-gyn Dr. Nicole Freehill tells Rolling Stone. “It’s disappointing this bill is moving forward, but I am still hopeful the Senate and/or the governor...

The Rolling Stones invited Irma Thomas onstage to perform “Time is on My Side” together during their headlining set at New Orleans Jazz Fest on Thursday night.
Originally written by Jerry Ragavoy in 1963 and first recorded by trombonist Kai Winding, “Time is on My Side” was subsequently covered by Irma Thomas and then The Rolling Stones in 1964. It became a hit for both parties, and an early one at that for The Rolling Stones, who were just beginning to build a significant following. Their rendition at Jazz Fest last night was the first time they’d performed the track since 1998.

During the show on Thursday night, Mick Jagger told the crowd, “In 1964, which is a very long time ago, we heard this great song on the radio by this amazing singer. We recorded it and it became our first kind of hit in America.

Exactly 60 years after they both recorded Jerry Ragovoy’s “Time Is on My Side,” the Rolling Stones and Irma Thomas finally had the chance to perform the song together Thursday evening at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. It was the first time the Stones had played the tune since 1998, and only the second time since 1982.

Evan Williams uses his talents to bring to life Elliot Augustine on Hallmark's The Way Home. That's a challenge that requires him to feel on the outside looking in, as Elliot has longed for belonging since his youth.
For Elliot, The Way Home Season 2 has moved beyond the initial drama of time travel as he tries to understand his place in the world and within his adopted Landry family without losing what makes being an Augustine so special in its own right.
We had the chance to chat with Williams and pick his brain a little to see what insight he could offer about Elliot's struggles and his longing for love.
How would you compare the Elliot we know so far in Season 2 with the Elliot we met in Season 1?
Good question. I think that Elliot is like an onion. We've just been peeling away those layers. I think...

Pacts be damned!
The pacts Alice made with Elliot in 2001 and the one Kat made with him in 2024 were topics on The Way Home Season 2 Episode 4, as the past and the present continued to converge in multiple ways.
Elliot, past and present, still wrestled with knowing too much about one or the other, but in the present, that appears to be over. Thank goodness. The past, though, will remain rough for him.
Brady's return to Port Landry was effective in light of Alice's return to 2001. He's never been painted as a bad guy, but we've also not fully understood him, either.
Brady's desire to help Del reflects his promise to her when he asked for Kat's hand in marriage. He didn't want only to be Kat's protector but to be the man of the family in the wake of so much loss.
I'm still not sure how often, if ever,...

Has Kat finally found what she’s been looking for? In the Jan. 28 episode of Hallmark Channel’s The Way Home, she seemed to get confirmation that her long-missing brother Jacob was alive in 1814. Wow -- goosebumps much?
There's more than one way to travel through time. Kat's journeys through the pond are quite literal, but Elliot's is more accessible and well-known to most of us.
There is much to unpack from The Way Home Season 2 Episode 3, so let's jump into the article and let the spoilers fly!
Before we travel through time with Elliot and Kat, let's touch on Del and the farm. Del's a treasure trove of secrets. Perhaps it's because she and Kat are just finding their footing again that Del's holding onto her troubles and not allowing anyone in to share the burden.
The thing is, you can't do that with a curious teenage girl underfoot, and Del discovered that the hard way when Alice couldn't hold in what she knew for one more second.
Alice: Grandma, you don’t have to pretend that everything’s Ok for me.

Time travel is a tricky thing. In The Way Home’s first season, Kat, Alice, and Elliot thought they had figured out some of the pond’s rules, including that you couldn’t change the past and that it would always send you where you needed to go. But it turns out the pond still has plenty of secrets, as we’re beginning to discover in season 2 of the Hallmark Channel series. In episode 2, “Hanging By a Moment,” Kat and Alice go on separate journeys, while Del and Elliot face their own challenges in the present.

We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again — the pond wants what the pond wants.
What the pond didn’t want on The Way Home Season 2 Episode 2 was for Alice to travel with Kat.
Kat’s travels are dangerous. Maybe the pond knows not to send a child where they won’t know how to steer clear of danger.
Now that we are more sure than ever that Jacob was lost in the pond, that makes less sense. But something keeps Kat’s and Alice’s journeys separate, and the pond itself is as good of an explanation as any.
Who knows what would have happened if Alice went back to 1814 with Kat. Kat barely survived. And if that’s where Jacob is lost, there’s a good chance Alice’s fate would be similar.
Kat Landry discovered a lot in 1814. She made a friend in Susana,...

A Hallmark production, The Way Home is a family drama/time travel thriller revolving around three generations of the Landry women, Del, Kat, and Alice. After a tragic incident took place in the Landry family, a distance was created between Del and her daughter Kat, causing Kat to move away from Canada and settle down with her family in Minnesota. But one day, when Kat received a letter from Del asking them to come back, she hurried back to Canada with her daughter, Alice. Kat, taking Alice with her, set out on a journey to discover a valuable piece of information from their past. A magical pond on the Landrys’ property turned out to be a portal to different time periods and the Landry women used that portal to travel back in time to unravel the mysteries surrounding their family.

Actors Chyler Leigh and Evan Williams discussed their hopes for season two of their time travel drama, The Way Home, in an exclusive new uInterview.
The Way Home follows three generations of Landry women who embark on a journey to find their way back to each other after life-changing events force them apart. The show jumps back and forth between time periods, going back as early as the 1800s.
“The audience is going to absolutely lose their minds over the 1800s, the production value is so great. It’s like Outlander but it’s Hallmark so there’s a lot of heart there,” Williams said. His character, Elliot Augustine, is a close friend of the Landry family.
“Thematically, the adult Elliot is explored through young Elliot in 1999, 2000 and 2001,” Williams explained. “We get to see more of why he is the way he is and what makes him tick, which I...

The premiere, though, was actually devoid of said traveling, providing more of a jumping-off point for the next phase to begin.
It’s clear the pond is not done with this family, and no matter how hard they work to stay away, only nature itself can prevent them from taking a dip.
“The Space Between” reminds us of how it all works.
First of all, weather is a factor, as Kat and Alice soon found out. You can’t jump into the pond without knowing if you’ll be trapped under the ice forever.
There are dangers involved with time travel, even through a local family pond.

At this point in the story, at least, the pond acts as a linear portal through time. To jump in the pond...

The Way Home Season 2 is coming to Hallmark Channel. New episodes of the time travel family drama begin airing on Jan. 21 and will hopefully deliver answers to our biggest questions about what happened to Jacob and what’s next for the Landry women. Need a refresher on where things stood with Kat, Alice, and Del at the end of last season? Here’s what you need to remember before watching The Way Home Season 2.
What is ‘The Way Home’ about?
The Way Home Season 1 introduced viewers to the Landry family. Kat Landry (Chyler Leigh), who has recently lost her job as a reporter and separated from her husband, moves from Minneapolis to her hometown of Port Haven, with her teenage daughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) in tow. Kat has an uneasy reunion with her mom, Del (Andie MacDowell), from whom she’s been estranged for years. Their relationship fractured decades earlier,...

Voters in Louisiana elected a new governor last week. For 56 of the state’s residents, the stakes of that contest were especially high: The elevation of Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, a rabid defender of the death penalty, dramatically increases the odds they will soon be executed.
Earlier this year, the dozens of inmates on Louisiana’s death row had a glimmer of hope: In April, Gov. John Bel Edwards, a Democrat, used his last state of the state address to call on the legislature to abolish executions. He declared them exorbitantly expensive,...

The Palm Beverly Hills has closed. Long the shorthand for industry power dining, it was for years run by Bruce Bozzi, the fourth generation in the family steakhouse business. A complicated court battle led to a 2020 sale to the hospitality firm Landry’s, whose brands include Del Frisco’s, Mastro’s and Morton’s. Below, Bozzi — husband of CAA co-chair Bryan Lourd and buzzy podcaster — sums up the storied, singular, nearly half-century run of the restaurant, which opened in West Hollywood in 1975 (where it was known for the many celebrity caricatures on the walls) and moved to Beverly Hills in 2014.

This isn’t about favourite actors. Those guys surf along on a wave of goodwill and personal adoration that means you’ll pretty much watch them in anything, regardless of quality. If Wes Bentley‘s your fav, for instance, you’ll have sought out Dolan’s Cadillac and Hirokin: The Last Samurai because you love the man, but you’ll be no better off for it.
This is about a different kind of actor – not your indulged favourite, but the one who’s earned your respect. When this actor’s name appears in a cast list, you sit up and pay attention because over the years, they’ve proved that they have the taste, integrity and talent to make their IMDb credits page if not a flawless, then certainly an interesting place to be. The collaborations they’re a part of and the projects they pick are worth seeking out.

"Cruel Summer" Season 2 Is Full of Twists and Turns: "[Fans Will] Be Really Surprised by the Ending"
Nothing is quite as it seems in season two of "Cruel Summer." Freeform's breakout anthology series officially returns this summer with a new mystery and a fresh cast led by "Little Fires Everywhere" star Lexi Underwood, Disney's Sadie Stanley, and "Locke & Key"'s Griffin Gluck. Set in a small Pacific Northwest town, the second installment centers on a complicated love triangle between friends Megan Landry (Stanley), Isabella Larue (Underwood), and Luke Chambers (Gluck) and a mysterious incident that changes their lives forever.
"I don't want to spoil anything, but the mystery is going to be very hard to move on from," Stanley tells Popsugar. "The events that happen are life-changing. The stakes are really high this season." Though it follows a completely new storyline, similar to the first season, the second chapter is told through three different timelines surrounding Y2K, which is part of what drew Stanley...

Mental illness can strike anywhere.
That message was well handled on FBI Season 5 Episode 16.
Using Tiffany's family to illustrate this message was a wise choice. After all, she appears to be the only team member who has much of a personal life.
Yes, the show is called FBI, not FBI Families.
But would a little more about the agents' personal lives really hurt the narrative that much? Dick Wolf's other franchises manage a work-life balance, don't they?
Tiffany always has been shown to have a heart, the perennial good cop in interrogations. Getting a memorial plaque for her mother's favorite bench was a great example of that.
That was why it seemed odd that she was blowing off Erika's very appropriate concerns about Bryan. Some of that was her feeling that Erika was overly dramatic by nature, but some of it was that she didn't want to believe that...

Did you really think Kat would be able to say no to more time in the past?
Ok, so the end of The Way Home Season 1 Episode 7 only shows her before the pond in a moment of hesitation, but there is too much weighing on her from the past to walk away.
And now that they have shared their secret, Kat and Alice can work together if the need to do so arises.
It's been fairly easy to see how Jacob's disappearance tore apart the Landry family and even easier to understand why Kat blamed herself for losing him.
But seeing her crack at the New Year's Eve party was tough, and Kat admitting it in 2023 was tougher. She's never found peace in the wake of Jacob's loss.

There's nothing like a bit of time travel to muddy the present.

Even Elliot, who is on the secret but not traveling himself, is navigating rough waters with the women who have been a part of his life for decades.
Brady's return to Port Haven was perfectly timed.
Kat and Alice both needed to reconcile their feelings from the past with the present.
For Alice, visiting the past introduced her to a man she didn't know. Young Brady didn't live up to the man she knew as her father. It made her question everything.
Upon his arrival, Alice treated her dad as if she was meeting him for the first time. She was disrespectful and spoke out of turn,...

So far, we’re only two episodes into Hallmark Channel’s new series The Way Home, but the show has already set up a number of intriguing mysteries for viewers to mull over. The biggest has to do with what happened to Jacob. We know that Kat’s younger brother isn’t around in the present day, and his absence is still an open wound for the Landry women. The circumstances surrounding Jacob’s disappearance are murky, but one theory could explain why he vanished in 1999 – and how he might find his way back into Del, Kat, and Alice’s lives.

We're only two episodes into Hallmark's new family drama with a fantasy element, The Way Home, but we're already eager for more.
We had the chance to catch up with Evan Williams, who plays the adult version of Elliot Augustine, a long-time family friend of the Landry family.
Elliot is a part of the family's fabric and acts as Alice's tether as she navigates the past and present of his and her family's lives.
What are you most enjoying about playing Elliot Augustine?
That's a good one. I think Elliot is a really multifaceted character, which always fires my imagination.
What's really cool about this character is I get to play one dynamic with Alice, which is sort of the mentor, like the older generation in confiding wisdom and direction, and at the same time, a different dynamic with Kat, who is Alice's mother, which is, hopefully, more of a romantic,...

If you were concerned that Hallmark might be moving away from the series business after recent cancellations, The Way Home Season 1 Episode 1 should have allayed those fears.
In one fell swoop, it expands and elevates the magic of Good Witch and the sense of family from Chesapeake Shores.
What more could we ask from a new series than to incorporate what we have enjoyed from past projects while introducing us to an entirely new world?
The first thing of note is the cast, particularly the women at the heart of the Landry family.
Andie MacDowell is a well-respected actor known for a barrage of successful films, who previously starred in an early Hallmark drama series, Cedar Cove, and stars as matriarch Del Landry.
Chyler Leigh, who stars as Kat Landry, has also worked with Hallmark previously but is best known for her roles as Lexie Grey on Grey's Anatomy and Alex Danvers on Supergirl.
