Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the series finale of “Nashville.”
The storyline with Alannah (Rainee Blake) and Brad Maitland (Jeffrey Nordling) in the final season of “Nashville” is one showmakers could have told at any point in the series, creator Callie Khouri told TheWrap in a recent interview ahead of Thursday’s series finale.
The plotline is very similar to the stories told by Harvey Weinstein accusers: Brad, who runs Shiny New Records, signs Alannah and then expects her to do him “favors” in return for things like booking her as the opening act for The Lumineers. When Alannah clarifies that she’s not romantically or sexually interested in Brad, her opening act mysteriously falls through.
“That’s not a new story in music, just at all,” Khouri said. “That’s a story we could have told at any point during the season, but wasn’t exactly a direct...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the series finale of “Nashville,” which aired July 26 on Cmt.
The curtain has closed on musical melodrama “Nashville” — this time for good.
It was a wild, six-year ride for the series that originally premiered on ABC in 2012 but was canceled by the broadcaster four years later. Cabler Cmt picked up the series just weeks later in 2016, staking a claim in scripted television. Over the years, the show saw births, deaths and scalds on-screen and showrunner changes and the exit of one of its stars (Connie Britton) behind-the-scenes. Of course the series finale had to go out in an equally big way, says executive producer Marshall Herskovitz, to match up to the “outrageous” saga it always was.
And what better way to do that than to see Britton, whose country music sensation character Rayna James died in the penultimate season,...

(Warning: Spoilers ahead for “Nashville” Season 5 and 6).
Is that who we think it is?
At the end of the final trailer for the last eight episodes of “Nashville,” Deacon (Charles Esten) asks “Is this real?” to a shadowy figure we can only assume is Connie Britton’s character Rayna Jaymes. We’ve got the same question as Deacon, considering Rayna died due to surgery complications after a car accident in Season 5.
It’s unclear how the show would bring back superstar Rayna, who left a lasting impact on superstar Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) — who, by the way, finds out in the trailer she’s pregnant. She’s also being held hostage by a cult in South America, so that’s no big deal. (Just kidding. That’s a huge deal. How will she get back to tell her daughter she’s a big sister?!)
