Strongman will focus on the man inside of Vader's suit, bodybuilder David Prowse.
David Prowse’s connection to the Star Wars universe is impressive. Most impressive. As the man that physically embodied Darth Vader inside of that iconic black getup, Prowse was a part of a team including James Earl Jones, Sebastian Shaw, and Bob Anderson that brought one of cinema’s most famous villains to life in the original Star Wars trilogy.
Yet, Prowse’s “eccentric” behavior led to him being banned by George Lucas himself from attending official Star Wars conventions. Despite the controversy, Prowse will find himself as the subject of the upcoming biopic, Strongman.
Strongman was written by Nicholas Jacobson-Larson and Dalton Leeb (The Well) and earned a spot on this year’s Black List, a Hollywood-curated list that chronicles the best unproduced screenplays of the year.

That was fine.
I'm probably being a little tougher on outfoX than I need to be, but many of my issues with this week's episode stem from the scheduling here in the Us. The last episode was the high point for the series so far, succeeding on multiple levels. Then Fox killed the show's momentum with a week off, and followed up the off week with an episode that didn't do much other than barrel towards the season finale.
The last episode succeeded in merging the plot propulsion and character development. We got a tonne out of the conversation between Reed and his father,...

In the age of peak TV, we’ve gotten to see many series which are constructed to be satisfying after just one season of storytelling. But it’s important to remember that this is a relatively new phenomenon, that all too often, potentially great shows will get cancelled before getting the chance to reach their full potential.
Read More:8 Cancelled TV Shows That Got A ‘Twin Peaks’-Style Revival
The list below focuses on scripted series, reaching back over two decades to cover some of television history’s most disappointing ends. The aim is to remember some of network and cable’s most audacious experiments, for better and for worse.
25. “Almost Human” (2013-2014)
In many ways, “Almost Human” was deeply flawed to a degree that made its cancellation understandable — it struggled to balance too many plot threads with an over-reliance on recycled world-building, ultimately failing to coalesce despite some ambitious...

Who he is: Bishop
His power: Much like Sebastian Shaw, Bishop can absorb different types of energy and redirect it in destructive blasts, which can also be shot out of his large gun.
His story: While X-Men: Days Of Future Past doesn’t spend much time explaining who he is, Bishop is the savior of the X-Men. Every time Sentinels attack the X-Men, Bishop is sent back in time to warn the team before its members are massacred. This happens over and over again until the X-Men decide to take a different strategy and send Wolverine back in time, giving Bishop the opportunity to fight and die alongside his mutant brethren before one last timeline refresh. Little else is known about Bishop, but the “M” scar over his eye suggests that he was a prisoner in one of the Sentinels’ mutant camps. With the timeline changes at the end of...

Who he is: Darwin, a.k.a. Armando Muñoz
His power: Darwin’s body instantly adapts to survive whatever circumstance he finds himself in.
His story: In his final moments, Darwin probably wishes he never picked up Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr in his cab. The taxi driver only gets to enjoy the perks of being an X-Man for a short time, with one night of partying before his early demise. Despite his ability to adapt to environmental factors (he grows gills when underwater, forms a hard protective shell when attacked), he’s unable to survive the forced absorption of Havok’s energy blast, which gets transferred into Armando’s body by the villainous Sebastian Shaw. Darwin reaches out to his teammate as his body tries to contain the force by becoming metal, then stone, but ultimately there’s nothing to be done to prevent the explosion.

Unfortunately, Alex’s hot-headed nature is partially responsible for the death of fellow new X-Man Darwin, who is killed when Sebastian Shaw absorbs Havok’s energy blast and transfers it inside Darwin to blow him up. Shooting on the pilot of Matt Nix’s upcoming X-Men TV series is currently taking place, though outside of some major casting additions and the fact Bryan Singer is directing the episode, we know very little about The Gifted. In fact, that may not even be the official title.
Previous casting calls and interviews have confirmed that we’ll see the robotic Sentinels in the drama – which will revolve around a family coming to terms with having mutant children and their eventual meeting with a group of underground heroes – and it’s also thought that the show will be closely tied to the movies. If that’s the case, it could explain this latest tidbit of information, which is that Legacy Casting is looking for “SS Guards.”

This will be a controversial opinion, but hear it out: Hayden Christensen should return as Anakin Skywalker for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
At least, that's the argument writer and critic Chris Hartwell lays out in a new video essay, which chronicles how the return could actually enhance the current trilogy — even for those most opposed to the prequels. After all, it's now canon that yes, Christensen and not original Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi actor Sebastian Shaw, is the definitive Anakin Force ghost thanks to some tinkering from George Lucas.

We finally know who will be squaring off against Wolverine in Logan, the upcoming superhero film that marks Hugh Jackman's last time playing the beloved X-Men character. Back in April, we learned that Narcos star Boyd Holbrook had been cast as a villain described as "a relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise," but we weren't sure exactly which character he'd be playing. Now the secret is out, thanks to the film's newly-official Instagram account called wponx:
Pierce

That's "Pierce" as in "Donald Pierce," a character THR does a great job of summing up:
In the comics, Pierce is a cyborg who has ties to The Hellfire Club, a shadowy group of wealthy and powerful individuals who seek to gain power and influence across the world. They were portrayed in 2011's X-Men: First Class,...

With the third Wolverine movie having recently been revealed as being simply titled Logan, one would only surmise that Hugh Jackman’s swan song as the iconic mutant will be deeply personal and get to the heart of the character. But, as with any superhero movie, one of the biggest questions on peoples’ minds is in regard to which villain(s) he will battle.
Over the past few days, several mysterious teaser photos have been shared via social media, the latest showing Boyd Holbrook with the caption “Pierce.” Now, this is most likely Donald Pierce who has some colorful history with the X-Men, to say the least. His involvement with the cyborg gang known at The Reavers – who were already heavily rumored to be appearing in the film – does nothing but allow more pieces of the puzzle to fall into place.
It’s also worth noting that Pierce has history with the Hellfire Club,...

He’s the shadowy villain in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but is there more to Snoke? Ryan looks at some of the fan theories...
Nb: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and copious speculation about Episode VIII and beyond.
Both physically and metaphorically, Supreme Leader Snoke loomed large over Star Wars: The Force Awakens. His gravelly voice - as provided by Andy Serkis - was the first thing we heard in the sequel's teaser trailer ("There has been an awakening. Have you felt it...?"). In the movie itself, Snoke was the shadowy puppet master, the overlord of the First Order who seduced Kylo Ren to the Dark Side. Appearing as a hologram (and performed by Andy Serkis), Snoke towered over everyone else in the movie, a pale-skinned, seemingly ancient spectre who barely moved from his throne.

What if there was an alternate timeline where Anakin ended up killing Obi-Wan in their battle on Mustafar? Better yet, what if he never fell to the Sith at all? Reddit user /u/issac_2 got curious and decided to see what that alternate Anakin would look like!
To do this, he took the faces of Hayden Christensen (Episode II and III Anakin) and Sebastian Shaw (Rotj Anakin) and created a middle-aged Jedi Knight version of the character. The result is pretty astounding!
Jedi Anakin: Hayden Christensen/Sebastian Shaw morph
Great work! Now can we see a Vader-less Sith Anakin?!

Marvel Comics
The fact that the X-Men franchise focuses on a team of heroes – including the immortal Wolverine and the mind-reading genius Professor X – means that these movies always need several strong villainous characters to match. At the very least, each film needs to be a tough-to-beat big bad (for the brainy X-Men to worry about) and a collection of formidable henchmen (to fight everyone else).
As the franchise has been going for 16 years, a lot of the most famous villains from the X-Men comics have already made it to the big screen. Audiences have seen multiple Magnetos and William Strykers by this stage, as well as memorable takes on Bolivar Trask, The Sentinels, Sebastian Shaw and The Hellfire Club.
So, in order to keep the franchise going for another 16 years, Bryan Singer and his 20th Century Fox cohorts will have to delve deeper into comic book lore.

In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the script by Jj Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Arndt instils a similar sense of scale to George Lucas’ original Star Wars film (the one that later became known as A New Hope). Much like our first trip to that galaxy far, far away, The Force Awakens seems to be one select snippet of a much larger story - one that spreads far beyond that which we actually get to see on the screen.

Nothing kicks the rumour mill into gear quite like Star Wars. As anticipation builds ahead of the The Force Awakens's December release, every piece of Force Awakens gossip pinballs around the web faster than the Millennium Falcon doing the Kessel Run.
But which possess the Force and which are pure Bantha poop? Here are nine huge (and potentially spoilerific) Star Wars rumours to chew over.
1. Rey and Kylo Ren are linked more closely than you think
The Star Wars movies have always explored blood ties and family, so is the notion that Kylo Ren and Rey are separated siblings?
Offspring of Luke? Son and daughter of Han and Leia? Obviously we can't say for sure, but the latest poster has fans speculating about the positioning of Rey's staff parallel to Kylo Ren's lightsaber. The previous Comic-Con poster for The Force Awakens places Rey between the light (Finn) and dark side...

The Marvel TV family just keeps growing. First there was “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “Agent Carter” on ABC. Then Netflix got in on the action with several shows revolving around street-level superheroes. And now Fox is teaming up with Marvel to produce “Hellfire” (Working title) about the infamous Hellfire Club. From the official announcement: Set in the late 1960s, the series -- which will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Marvel Television, with 20th Century Fox handling the physical production -- follows a young Special Agent who learns that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires – known as “The Hellfire Club” – to take over the world. This adds an interesting wrinkle to the ongoing power struggle between Marvel and 20th Century Fox. As the latter still holds the film and television rights to the X-Men, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been mutant-free.

Rumors, fan suggestions, and missed opportunities have linked Bryan Cranston to quite a few comic book movie roles, from X-Men: First Class's Sebastian Shaw to Batman v Superman's Lex Luthor. And though it would seem that the Breaking Bad star doesn't have much interest in joining the ever-expanding superhero bandwagon, the actor recently declared otherwise... to a certain extent. "You know what I'd like to do? I'd like to do some big superhero villain in some Marvel classic," Bryan Cranston told Metro at the London Film Festival premiere of his new movie Trumbo. However, the Godzilla actor then implies that he's not interested in playing a long-established bad guy. "Create one from scratch… I don’t know what I would do but it would be nasty," he added. With so many Marvel movies in the works, there are numerous roles that Cranston could tackle. There's Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2, Thor: Ragnarok,...

George Lucas's digital tinkering with the Star Wars trilogy resulted in Hayden Christensen taking original Return of the Jedi actor Sebastian Shaw's place as the ghostly Anakin, and according to Making Star Wars he'll be the permanent (albeit heavily scarred) face of Luke's dad throughout the new films.

Some of the most memorable characters in movie history are antagonists. Here are our picks for the franchises that have make the biggest impression based on their villains alone.
A great antagonist in a film can make the effort of the protagonist seem more important. The hero’s plight becomes elevated to have meaning beyond just simple entertainment. It is those struggles that define some of the best movies ever made, and give the audience something to really cheer about.
It’s challenging enough to make one good antagonist, but what happens when you need to make a sequel? What happens if your antagonist has died but your protagonist needs more adventures to keep them busy or complete their story? Maintaining quality villains in a movie franchise is not easy to do. Some movie franchises have had better success at maintaining great antagonists, to the point of often being more...

For those of you that my have been off-planet yesterday, J.J. Abrams and the folks at LucasFilm/Disney unveiled the second teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens yesterday, at the opening ceremony of Celebration in Anaheim. The reveal was nothing less than insane. Sitting at my dining room table watching the live feed of the panel, I have never in my life felt so connected to other fans. This was a global event. I had friends texting me, instant messaging me, calling me, you name it—all while we were watching some of the coolest and most goosebump-inducing announcements in the history of Star Wars lore. I had friends in attendance at the panel, and even though I couldn’t make it, I felt like I was there. Not unlike how Yoda, Obi-Wan, and the newly redeemed Anakin (played by Sebastian Shaw, not that other less-than-Special Edition...

James Earl Jones will not be returning for the Star Wars sequels.
The actor - who famously voiced Darth Vader in the original trilogy - has ruled out any involvement in Disney's new movies.
"I've got no illusions that I will or even hankerings to be in them, but I'm very proud to have been part of the original," he told Variety.
Jones voiced the Sith Lord in the three films, with Dave Prose portraying him on screen.
Sebastian Shaw played the unmasked Vader and the ghost of Anakin Skywalker in Return of the Jedi.
Jones's castmates Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker are returning for Jj Abrams's Star Wars: Episode VII.
The actor will appear in You Can't Take It with You on Broadway this autumn.
Star Wars Episode VII will open in cinemas on December 18, 2015.

With X-Men: Days of Future Past opening this week, it’s time to look back at the films that kicked off the first big superhero franchise. There are countless top ten lists that could be made from the myriad of X-Men images, characters, and set pieces that have come to define the superhero genre and reshape what we know about a comic book that has endured for decades. This list tries best to objectively quantify ten great scenes from five of the six theatrically released films, ordering them in terms of iconography and emotionality, but also according to the fundamentals of what makes a film scene work and why this behemoth franchise is so enduring. Spoilers herein.

The X-Men movies are important. They make a lot of money and they helped create Superhero-Era Hollywood and they incepted a certain kind of lucrative career arc in the heads of a generation of young actors. (Do the franchise, take the money, spend a year on greenscreens and the press circuit pretending you understand anything that’s happening, try for the Oscar, repeat.)
And the X-Men movies are important to me. I grew up loving superhero comic books and I grew up loving movies. These two fascinations were not mutually exclusive; but now, more and more, they feel diametrically opposed.

It’s a generally accepted assessment that the X-Men franchise is a successful one – aside from one blip and a couple of not so great spin-offs – which is precisely why X-Men: Days Of Future Past is easily one of the most hotly anticipated movies heading into the summer. But nobody ever said the franchise wasn’t without its flaws.
Ignoring for a minute the fact that the X-Men time continuum is all over the place and the casting of Vinnie Jones, it’s not really those mistakes that really matter. Instead, it’s the errors that should get people fired – the continuity issues and bloopers, plot holes and mess-ups and idiotic logical inconsistencies that invariably go unpunished in even the biggest movies every year. These are the things that pull you out of the film world, and demand you ask questions that shouldn’t ever be asked of a...

Given that WhatCulture.com has recently discussed a number of future movies featuring Marvel characters (such as The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and Thor 3), the imminent release of X-Men: Days of Future Past makes it seem like the ideal time to look at a future X-Men movie release.
In December of 2013, X-Men director Bryan Singer announced via his Twitter account that X-Men: Apocalypse will be released in 2016. The movie will see the iconic X-Men villain Apocalypse as the lead antagonist, finally appeasing those fans who have demanded such a monstrous foe be depicted in a big screen adaptation.
Magneto has served as a near constant thorn in the X-Men’s collective side throughout the series so far, with guys like Sebastian Shaw and Deadpool (if we can really call him that) occasionally popping up to vary things somewhat, but a colossal villain like Apocalypse making an appearance is long overdue.

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men. X-Men: First Class was directed by Matthew Vaughn ("Kick-Ass"), from a screenplay written by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz, Jane Goldman, and Matthew Vaughn. The cast included: James McAvoy as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr/Magneto, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert,...

Filming is about to commence on Star Wars: Episode VII, Jj Abrams's hotly-anticipated sequel that picks up the story 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi.
With almost 40 years of history - encompassing films, TV, comic books, video games and novels - there's a wealth of interesting facts and information about the vast universe hatched by George Lucas.
Here are ten fast facts we've discovered from a galaxy far, far away…
1. Inspired by the swashbuckling Flash Gordon adventures that began in the '30s, a young George Lucas initially wanted to bring that serial to the big screen, but found the rights to the character difficult to untangle. From there he began to fashion his own space epic - a project that would eventually become the Star Wars we know and love.

Nine films in, the movies released by Marvel Studios comprise an elaborate narrative tapestry, with connections running between films, the short DVD-extra One-Shots, and the rapidly expanding universe of TV projects. The films are purposefully designed to appeal to newcomers. I’m guessing that the vast majority of people who love Iron Man have never read an Iron Man comic book. (Side note: Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man is much cooler than pretty much any comic book version of Iron Man.) But speaking as someone who grew up devouring comic books, part of what makes the Marvel Studios films...

Production has officially wrapped on Bryan Singer's new epic X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Filmed in Montreal, Canada, with 3D cameras, the movie is due out in May 2014 and brings together cast from the past setting of X-Men: First Class (including Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and Lucas Till) with cast from the original trilogy (including Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Daniel Cudmore).
As principal photography ended on Saturday, the director tweeted a picture from the set showing (below, from left) writer Simon Kinberg, Bryan Singer, Hugh Jackman and producer Hutch Parker.
Another still from the production (featured at the top of this article) has also surfaced, showing a 1973 scene with Nicholas Hoult as a very human Beast (the change from the blue furry version seen in First Class will no doubt be explained in the story) alongside Wolverine and McAvoy's Xavier.

After his excellent performance as the villainous Sebastian Shaw in 2011's X-Men: First Class, Kevin Bacon will be returning to the comic book movie genre in this summer's R.I.P.D., which is based on the Dark Horse graphic novel of the same name. Speaking with Collider while promoting The Following, the actor talks briefly about his villain in the Universal-distributed supernatural comedy, saying that the role is much lighter than his character in the Fox TV series. "I was just looping R.I.P.D. Even if it was on a looping stage, it was just so fun to step into some other shoes for awhile. ... He’s a villain, but it’s much lighter. It’s funny. He’s a goofball. He turns into a zombie. He’s not a serial killer." With a July 19th release date set, expect the marketing campaign for R.I.P.D. to begin soon, so stay tuned to Cbm...

However, he hasn't heard whether the Iceman will cometh.
"Honestly, at this point I have no idea," Ashmore said. "What's exciting is Bryan Singer's back, which is amazing. He was amazing to work with. I would love to come back and play Bobby again. I played the part three times, I got to grow up playing that part, which is incredible. It's so rare. If it happens,...

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" and its new take on the "Riddles in the Dark" scene raise an interesting question many fans have not considered when it comes to the prequel trilogy. Could Ian Holm go the way of Sebastian Shaw in "Return of the Jedi"?
Let us explain for a second. "Riddles in the Dark" is just the first example of a redundancy between "The Hobbit" trilogy and "The Lord of the Rings," and with the potential for more doubling-up on specific scenes, would Peter Jackson ever consider re-editing his original trilogy to create consistency?
MTV News' Josh Horowitz caught up with Jackson to find out.
Thankfully for fans of "The Lord of the Rings," it doesn't sound like Jackson wants to pull a Lucas any time soon.
"That's a bit of a dilemma, because Ian Holm is so integrating in with 'The Fellowship of the Ring,'" Jackson said.

Heads up merry Marvel mutant maniacs! The fine folks at the Shout Factory in conjunction with Marvel Knights Animation have just released The Astonishing X-Men Collection Motion Comic on Blu-Ray. This two disc set includes the Eisner award-winning four story arcs from writer Joss Whedon (Marvel’S The Avengers) and artist John Cassaday (who has drawn up some great new cover box art for this set). All just in time for Black Friday shopping, or to include on your very own list to Santa.
So, what’s a motion comic (you may ask)? Well, this is unlike the many straight to home video, comics-inspired animated features that have been produced. It’s not something loosely based on the comics story with teams of artists and animators reworking the characters and action. A motion comic takes the original artwork and makes the images move using state of the art computer technology.
